More info on Bahamut: Bahamut – The Final Fantasy Wiki has more Final Fantasy information than Cid could research (http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Bahamut)
The fact he’s actually evil in the game (well, at the very least, brutally unsympathetic), along with the fact that he makes full 18 player alliances bow in defeat before him shows he is to be respected.
Plus he has access to all the variant attacks of his earlier FF counterparts (ala Gigaflare and Teraflare), and can summon lesser dragons to fight alongside him as well. He thoroughly deserves the title of ‘wyrmking’. 😉
It’s just a pity at this time he isn’t actually summonable by players in game, but still.
I’ve always loved FF8’s version, I love the badass organic dragon Bahamut, more so than the metallic, sci-fi looking ones of more recent. It was between FF8 and Bahamut Zero (although Zero has a ridiculous amount of wings!)
For me, it’s a toss-up for me between FFVIII’s version and Neo-Bahamut.
Seriously, give him a black and red repaint in your head and see if you don’t agree with me.
……………………….. Is it me………… or does this seem backwards? For the last however many FF games that came out people have complained that they’re not really FF games but just have FF tacked on to the title…….. Now I mention a game from the same company that plays like an FF and it’s not really a FF game? Seems hypocritical…..
In FF9, he’s Kuja’s hatchet man, showing up whenever Kuja feels like some people just plain have to be killed in as final a fashion as possible. The battle for Alexandria and the duel between Bahamut and Alexander is IMO, the best sequence in that game.
But in the end, I went for FF12. Even though Bahamut is not actually alive in that game and is ‘just’ a machine, I still get chills when I see it in those final cutscenes. It looks like a dragon, rearing up to breathe fire, and its the best ‘Death Star’ style thing that I’ve seen since well… the Death Star itself.
And the fact that they recreate the Bahamut/Alexander battle from FF9 is just awesome. When Alexander rams Bahumut and saves Rabanastre, I felt like applauding. And that’s practically unheard of, because I’m so jaded, you could fetch a good price for me down at the local Jeweller’s shop.
So… ‘Other’ it is.
Seriously, give him a black and red repaint in your head and see if you don’t agree with me.
I kinda see where you’re coming from but look at those damn claws! 😀
