Hi there!

I would like to extract all the outstanding FMVs from FF 7-9 on my PC so I can watch them without actually playing the game.
Now, I downloaded PSX Multi Converter and when I start it everything works fine: The *.STR files on the disc are detected and I can convert them into AVI format on my Harddisc.
However, when I try to watch the files (using W. Media Player) the screen stays black and I can only here the sound.

I guess it must be a problem with the video codec but I can’t figure out why (because all the codecs ARE installed) and how to make it work.
Even more confusing: The same thing happens when I hit the ‘no compressor’ (uncompressed AVI format) option, so on the other hand, it might be the application that does not work right.(???)

Also, if anyone knows another/better application which allows me to extract FMVs I would be glad to hear it.

Would be nice if you could help me out on this one!
Many Thanks!

i have psx multi converter…

…and i didn’t have any problems at all. i didn’t use windows media player though. i used both power dvd and windows movie maker to watch it, because my windows media player isn’t working well.

i bet you have problems with your windows media player. i think. try using power dvd.

Yeah, Windows Media Player is completely screwed. My own version (Version 9) refuses to play WMV files (ironically enough), and screws up running DviX files half the time, although MPEG files still run properly.

In your case however rayden, your problem sounds like an issue with Media Player (probably caused by a codec fault), so compressing the file into MPEG would probably help (use a free MPEG compressor program – do a Google search as there are a number of free ones available).

Oh sweet! I just got PSX MC v.2.53 and it finally worked out – now I can extract all the FMVs and burn them on DVD – Hell yeah! 🙂

Thanks your help! 😎
