Gold Saucer Chocobo Race track is one, Wutai isn't I'm afraid (although there are plenty of statues there, they seem to be of Buddha rather than the Moai curiously).

For the second one, you're getting colder, not warmer. ;)

Okay it's been a month without any further takers so I'm going to wind this question up and open it up to whoever wants to post (sorry for the double post but it was the only way to revive it).

Incidentally, it was Great Glacier where the second Moai was located - it's hidden in the background on a cliff-face (it even shows up on the Great Glacier map if you look closely).

Anyway, free question.

Ah, nice find Enkidoh, without cheating I didn't know :)

What's the name of the weapon shop in Sector 6? A clue is that it's on the roof of the shop itself.

I'm assuming you mean the one in the Wall Market? If that's the case it says "GUN"

I'll give it to you, it's called "MACHINE GUN", the word "machine" is smaller than the word gun so I can see why you might have missed it.

Alright, who is the only Chocobo Racing jockey/chocobo who can break the stat barrier?

Enkidoh
08-28-2011, 03:05 PM
That's easy. That would have to be TEHIOH - Joe's infamous Black Chocobo, who, no matter how good your chocobo is, his one will always be better in terms of stats.

Hence, racing against him is no easy task (still definitely possible, but no walk in the park). ;)

Maybe this was asked in the past, but I don't feel like looking through 30 pages....

Each characters' ultimate weapon has a special ability that can be triggered depending on what goes on during the battle (& even before the battle).

What is the Princess Guard's (Aeris) special ability, and how must it be activated?

Enkidoh
09-07-2011, 01:07 PM
That's really easy. :)

It powers up whenever Aeris uses a healing spell on an injured party member (in keeping with Aeris's White Mage-like persona). It's even more powerful when Aeris revives KO party members (ironically enough).

I'm not sure though if it also counts her Limit Breaks in the same way.

Enkidoh
10-23-2011, 10:38 AM
For some reason I keep thinking that it's some piddly little amount like 1 gil or something equally stupid, most likely because I think Square would probably do something like that deliberately to discourage players selling such rare and powerful materia, even when it's mastered.

But I'm probably wrong. :p

Nope and nope I'm afraid.

They're last encountered after the Underwater Reactor, but not as late as the return to Midgar. (incidentally, there are enemies like the Attack Squads which you can encounter in the Shinra Building at the end of disc 2, but they're not the same - those soldiers are called Grenade Combatants). ;)

Thanks. Answer in 777th post could not be wrong ;)

Ok using opportunity I will ask question regarding this bonus.

When one character reaches 7777 HP he/she will automatically attack 64 times doing 7777 dmg with every hit (except Ruby). If a 3 characters reach 7777 HP at the same time, how many times will they automatically attack? ;)

Enkidoh
10-28-2011, 05:41 PM
I have no idea, as I've never actually had that happen for all three characters at once, so I'm going to say the same length of time (it's around ten minutes that the effect lasts, discovered by using Tifa with the Lucky 7's effect gained as a result of a fluke in stats - it's a long story).

So I'd say about the same - 64 hits. But that's a wild stab in the dark here. :p

Szczepan
10-29-2011, 02:41 PM
Yes! You got it right, Enkidoh! :D

When 3 characters start the battle with 7777HP they won't attack 192 times or anything like that;) The only difference is that they will all attack one after another, but at 64th hit the bonus ends.

Your go Enkidoh :)

Enkidoh
10-29-2011, 06:21 PM
Okay, that was a fluke. :p

Whereabouts in the game, and at what time, is a NPC stated as being in 'Limit Break' status, and who is this NPC?

in Gaia's Cliff, you receive an Elixir but the screen says 'Received last elixir!'

Enkidoh
11-05-2011, 08:36 PM
If I remember rightly, an earlier question revealed another item like this - the ethers received in Fort Condor after doing a certain number of battles which is listed as 'Received: Tincuture!'. As well, I seem to remember in Gold Saucer's Battle Square, upon purchasing an Enemy Lure materia from the machine, the message displayed says: "Received: Enemy Lure!" - making it seem like you've received an item and not a materia.

Other than that, I have no idea what else it could be.

Meltigemini
11-10-2011, 10:29 PM
The Last Elixir and Tincture examples are both right, hadn't actually thought of the Enemy Lure one but I'll accept that one too.

These are others I had thought of, I know they are only slight differences but differences all the same:

The Luck Plus materia in the Temple of the Ancients shows on screen as "Lucky Plus"
The Typhon summon shows as "Typoon" (I thought it was supposed to be "Typhoon" for so long...)
The final summon is "Knights of the Round" when you pick it up but "Knights of Round" in the menu - this is probably more just an issue of space but it is still a difference :P

I'm sure I had thought of others when I first asked the question :P anyway, question open to 7alentine or Enkidoh.

Anyone else? (It's pretty easy if you think about it, and know a little about FFVII's storyline).

Withope
12-30-2011, 09:24 AM
I really do not remember the Mythril Mines being closed down (unless they were referring to it being closed down prior to the games timeframe)...

But here is a dumb guess... Is it because Sephiroth is slaying Midgar Zoloms for shits and giggles outside the entrance? =o

Szczepan
12-30-2011, 03:22 PM
Economical crisis after Wutai War and prices of Mythril dropping rapidly, leading to excavation of Mythril being unprofitable anymore and shutting the mines LOL;) Or just Midgar Zolom eating the miners:D

Enkidoh
01-05-2012, 07:19 PM
Szczepan, your second sentence is close, but not exactly correct. Want to try again? :)

And for those wondering, speaking to the miners in the bar in Kalm mention why the mines were closed down (before the game's beginning) and why they're now unemployed. ;)

Withope
01-14-2012, 11:15 AM
Anyone? I surely do not know.

Enkidoh
01-14-2012, 02:26 PM
Okay, seeing as there doesn't seem to be any more takers, I may as well wind it up.

The reason for the closure of the Mythril Mines as stated by the miners in Kalm's pub is the mines became infested with monsters which frightened the miners, presumably from the Mako Reactor at Fort Condor which is nearby. I'm surprised no one knew this, as I assumed it was an easy answer. :p

Anyway, Szczepan had the closest answer, so next question can be his if he wants.

Szczepan
01-14-2012, 06:02 PM
Ok, didn't remember that exactly:/ Anyway, next question.

Describe what happens if you fail to protect Fort Condor at CD2 and what can be done after that, so it won't be a complete loss.

Szczepan
01-20-2012, 12:30 AM
Nobody has ever tried failing once out of curiosity what happens? :(

Enkidoh
01-20-2012, 02:50 AM
Fail to protect, as in, the enemy commander reaches the command bunker and you have to fight the Grand Horn? Or you fail the mini-game completely? I can't remember what happens exactly if it's the later - I assume they take the Huge Materia and kill the Condor, but I can't remember exactly.

Szczepan
01-20-2012, 01:32 PM
Failing completely in a sense of failing in minigame and in the battle with Grand Horn;)

Enkidoh
01-22-2012, 02:21 PM
I presume then that Cloud is knocked out and then reawakens downstairs in the Inn (and loses the Huge Materia). If I remember rightly, the commander will say that even though the Huge Materia was already taken the Shinra haven't ceased their hostilities and will renew their attack, meaning you can fight the battle again one final time (but still lose the Huge Materia). I can't remember if you can still get the Phoenix summon materia after this though.

Other than that, I have no idea.

Szczepan
02-02-2012, 01:10 PM
When I tried that once long time ago, I remember that it ended with catastrophy - party had to evacuate and Fort Condor destroyed and no longer available as a location. You could only enter to the part where there was supposed to be line to climb to the fort, but there was no more line to climb. There was no more condor on top of it too. But you could still dig up Phoenix materia in Bone Village.

Free question to anybody who wants it.

What are the three options that Reno gives to Don Corneo when he asks, "Why do you think we went to all the trouble of teaming up with
those guys to get you...?" in Wutai?

Enkidoh
02-02-2012, 02:46 PM
That's easy:

1. "Because we're ready to die."
2. "Because we're sure we'll win."
3. "Because we're clueless."

Cornero always chose number 2 for me for some reason, but I'm not sure if that's random or by default. :p

When collecting Tifa's ultimate weapon the Premium Heart from Wall Market in disc 2 or 3, there is a hidden extra dialogue scene that can occur as a part of it if the right circumstances are met. What is the method for viewing this extra scene and what happens during the scene in question?

Enkidoh
03-04-2012, 11:17 AM
Okay, it's been a month without any takers so I'm going to open it up as a free question to whoever wants it.

(The answer to my question was if Cid is in your party as well as Tifa when inspecting the Wall Market item shop machine in disc 2 or 3, an extra scene will occur where Cid fixes the machine, allowing Tifa to gain the Premium Heart from it. If Cid isn't in the party though Tifa just gains the Premium Heart automatically).

Red XIII is the one that comes with All already equipped

But, alright, here we go.. this is a 4 part question :

II. Who informs of this location?
III. How & why does this person fit into FF7?
IV. Who is this information originally told to?

Enkidoh

That's really easy:

The 'Knowlespole' is the old Cetran name for the Icicle Area on the Northern Continent - specifically Icicle Village, the Great Glacier, Gaea's Cliff and the Northern Crater. Ilfana informs Professor Gast in his video records about this (viewable by accessing the video monitor in his house in Icicle Village), with Ilfana naturally being Aeris's biological mother and the last full-blooded Cetra.

It's okay Phoe, I've noticed there seems to be a bug with VBulletin where clicking 'last' to view the most recent page on really large threads, does not always actually take you to the last page, but another page in the thread, so I assumed that was what happened to you. I'm sorry if I came across too harsh there - stupid text not being able to convey real feelings. :p

As for Johnny's question, I think the scene referred to is at the end of disc 2, where Cloud and Tifa are camped alone together on the beach with the Highwind behind them. The part where Tifa is standing really close to the camera in particular - you can see her face clearly and she clearly is shown with a mouth there.

Of course this only is relevant to the PSX version - the PC version gave all characters mouths (although, freakishly, NPCs' mouths are stuck open! :p). I have no idea if this same treatment was given to the version on the Playstation Network though.

The Force Stealer sword for Cloud. It's his most powerful weapon at that point in the game, but the HP Plus materia you can get instead for getting a slightly lower score is perhaps a better prize. ;)

The Loveless signs in the slums all say 97 on them, I'm pretty sure.

Enkidoh
07-29-2012, 12:08 PM
Although Johnny was right in a manner of speaking (it's not in Jenova's chamber per se, but rather '1997' is engraved on the helmet Jenova is wearing inside her tank - amongst other things), because it's only noticeable in the FMV sequence in the flashback scene, it doesn't really count for this question. So therefore, Szczepan got it right - the Mako reactor cores in Midgar all say '1997' on them. Funnily enough, the girls' makeup room in the Honeybee Inn says '1979' on it, not 97. :p

Anyway Szczepan it's your go. :)

07-30-2012, 05:30 PM
Well, apparently Wutai's Japanese name ('Utai') is the name of a mountain range in China I believe. Additionally, there is another in-direct reference to a real-world place in Wall Market - the restaurant there sells Korean BBQ Plates, despite there not evidentally being any place named 'Korea' in FFVII's Planet. But I don't think Szcz was after that one.

Keeping in the Train Graveyard, there is a weapon you can get in this area that isn't purchasable until at least Junon.

Four points:
1. What enemy has it?
2. How do you get it off him?
3. What's the name of the weapon?
4. Who is it for?

Enkidoh
09-11-2012, 06:30 PM
That's easy -

The monster is an Eligor (a rare monster that resembles half an undead-looking horse fused with a carriage with a rider), the weapon is stolen from it (requires the Steal materia found earlier in the Sewers under Wall Market to be equipped to someone and the 'Steal' command used in battle), and the weapon in question is a Striking Staff, which is Aeris's best weapon for a good deal of the game (it's her most powerful weapon in terms of physical damage, at least until you get to Gongaga).

I always made sure to steal that before leaving the Graveyard, as it is really such a useful weapon for Aeris. :)

ok hmmm...kind of an eaasy one and it might of been asked before. what must be done in order to obtain the curse ring before fighting ultima weapon?

Enkidoh
10-02-2012, 08:40 AM
You're right, it's really easy. ;)

Firstly you have to inspect the locked door at the back of the weapon shop in Mideel, before it's destroyed by Ultima Weapon (this can be done with either Tifa or Cid as the main character), then head outside and walk (not run) along the catwalk behind the praying woman in black near the Accessory Shop. If you walk carefully in this area you should hear a tinkle sound.

Press the 'O' button on this spot to find a 'A Beat Up Useless Old Key' (despite having a 'Received Key Item' message, it doesn't actually appear in the key items list - this is in fact just a variable required), then return to the door in the weapon shop. Use the key when prompted and your character will end up breaking it! You'll then be caught by the shop owner, so answer him truthfully to be told the 'truth' about the door (it's actually fake), and he'll give you the Curse Ring. ;)

I knew about this little quest when I first played FFVII back in 1997 due to having a 'secrets' guide from Electronic Gaming Monthly magazine which mentioned it, amongst other things. :D

Apparently he was first sent there to organize Rufus's welcoming parade, and remains there more or less for the rest of the game (he was later ordered to stay there to assist with the movement of the Sister Ray cannon to Midgar, and by the end was told 'not to bother coming back'.).

He is seen in one small scene at Costa del Sol though in disc 1, after Cloud and the party first arrive there on the cargo ship - when Rufus's helicopter lands the Shinra manager is seen being blown into the water by the helicopter :p).

Oops, sorry, I've been busy the last few days. :p

(Also I'm gonna sticky this thread finally so that it won't disappear if it's not posted in for a while. ;)).

In the basement of the Shinra Mansion in Nibelheim, there is a rarely encountered monster which references (both in design and name) a famous real-life pair of conjoined ('Siamese') twins. What is this monster's name? Bonus points if you can also give me it's stats. ;)

Actually, from all the information I've read, Emerald Weapon has around 800 000 HP. Ruby Weapon is the one with 1 million HP. And Emerald's timer is only 20 minutes, not 30. ;)

They're still mind-numbing to fight though either way, although that's their whole reason for existence - to challenge players who have accomplished everything else in the game.

Anyway, here's a question that's sure to stump most players:

What is the only time and place in the game where you can gain the item Vagyrisk Claw, and what enemy drops it?

Cosmo Canyon? Not sure of the time right enough lol

Cosmo Canyon? Not sure of the time right enough lol

that's not the current question...dood.

Hmm, the enemie twins were called Yin and Yang. Stats... no idea.

BTW: it seems mindblowing how I "only" played the game.
You guys seemed to have eaten the game for breakfast, lunch, dinner and snack to know it so well.

Next Question (if my answer was correct): Whoever wants can post a question, I don't feel like it.

Question: why did chelsea not show up for her date with rude?

Enkidoh
02-03-2013, 02:31 AM
Yeah, Pasc you got it correct - it was Ying and Yang (who were a pair of famous conjoined twins in real life and who apparently hated each other :P).

AuraAshley: welcome to the forum! Unfortunately, this quiz is only for the original FFVII and not the compilation titles - as your question relates to Before Crisis I believe which isn't available outside Japan and which very few people would have played as a result (myself included), I don't think you'll get an answer for it. If you want to post another question, feel free to. :)

question: name one way in which you can beat sephiroth in 3 hits

which form?

Enkidoh
02-09-2013, 07:39 PM
Well, his Bizzaro Sephiroth form can be defeated in one turn by simply casting Knights of the Round once. No need to bother dividing your party up and taking turns to wear him down. One summon of KotR and bamn... bye bye bug Sephy. :p

I do know his Safer Sephiroth form takes considerably more effort though (one summon of KotR isn't enough for that form), so I'm going to take a wild guess here and just say one person summoning Knights of the Round with W-Summon, and then one other person miming it.

FF7genie
02-12-2013, 01:56 AM
or his human form, and that leaves him with 1 hp in wich case u would attack you're self twice then him? kind of a dumb question...sorry haha
?

Holzoff is the name of the guy who helps you at the base of Gaea's Cliff, he tells you a story about him and a friend going up the cliff. What's the name of this friend?

Okay here goes...not too hard:

What is Marlene's mothers name?

Darth Revan
05-21-2013, 03:34 AM
Eleanor I think... I know she was adopted by Barrett, as she was his friend's Dyne's daugter...

Initech
05-21-2013, 12:37 PM
Correct, it's your question. By the way I wasn't sure if I should go for the whole Marlene's mother or Dyne's wife angle with the question and you hit both.

When you go into the Honey Bee Inn for the first time you go to Wall Market and look in the Lover's Room, in the far right what is there? (Only found this one on a recent playthrough)

How many ways can you do wind damage in this game?
EDIT: Seeing the activity, I'll give this a pass. The answer was 6 ways, 1 item, 2 spells and 3 Elemental materia junctions.

anybody's. i don't have one now myself.

Yeah, free question to whoever wants it - my rule of thumb for these trivia threads is, if the person asking the question hasn't returned in a month of asking to confirm or deny it, it's opened up as a free question to the next poster, that way it stops the thread from going stale.

For anyone interested I do a series on my youtube channel called final fantasy stuff :), I've been a big fan since I was about 8 or 9 after I watched my brother play ffviii, and since then I've been collecting for the series non stop. If you have a spare moment, please take a look :)

Alright as no one has still thrown a question out there, I'll give it a whirl lol. Don't expect anything overly taxing though.

There are two ways to get a Force Stealer weapon, how?

MrMuta
10-12-2013, 10:57 AM
1. Receive at as prize from Rufus if you do perform well in the training drill.

2. Buy it in Junon on disc 2/3...although not as sure about that one.

1) is right, but 2) isn't, but I'll give it to you as you're half right. You can buy it from North Corel, on any of the discs.

How many summon materia are missable, and name them.

JohnnyMercyside
10-16-2013, 07:37 PM
Most of them are missable. I think, namely, these are the ones that are:

Choco/Mog, Ramuh, Titan, Odin, Leviathan, Kjata, Alexander, Phoenix, Neo Bahamut, Hades, Typhoon, Bahamut ZERO and Knights of the Round

aces4839
10-16-2013, 07:54 PM
Knights of the Round isn't missable.

JohnnyMercyside
10-16-2013, 08:05 PM
What's your definition of missable? Mine is that you don't have to get it in the game at all. And Knights of the Round is one of the hardest to get, making it pretty much 100% missable. Unless my interpretation is wrong.

aces4839
10-17-2013, 02:46 AM
missable meanin u cant get it after a certain point where u can get it. for Knights of the Round, all you need is a Gold Chocobo which u can get at any time.

JohnnyMercyside
10-17-2013, 06:37 PM
Well, using that definition, I think it's Shiva, Ifrit, Ramuh, Leviathan, Bahamut, Phoenix and Neo Bahamut?
