Tales Series Music Thread

Many of the other big series have their own threads (Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, Mega Man, etc.), so I figured it was time to make a Tales one.

I plan on uploading several of the soundtracks over the next few days, but I could really use some help. If anyone has any of these, please upload it in the highest quality possible and I’ll update my post here when I get a chance to include your link if you want it used. Ideally, I’d like to have a lossless and an mp3 version of each. I only have access to a couple of the CDs to rip as lossless, so any help on that front would be great.

Just as a tip to keep links active, if you use something like Megaupload, name the file as something inconspicuous, like an abbreviation or something. The links shouldn’t be taken down that way.

Yeah, use Megaupload. Just make sure that you don’t name the file with the actual name or include "OST" or "soundtrack" in it. What I do is name my rar files and their descriptions as abbreviations, so Tales of Symphonia is ToS.rar and the description is ToS.

Oh, I have physical copies of the Tales of Phantasia Original Soundtrack Complete Version (http://vgmdb.net/album/1075) and the Tales of Eternia Remaster Audio (http://vgmdb.net/album/1073), however, the Phantasia OST has some incorrect timings for the songs when I ripped it…I don’t know if a rerip of the actual discs will do anything to correct that.

If the timing is off for Tales of Phantasia then chances are it’s a game rip, unless the times are off by a second.

Er, I actually own the soundtracks I listed. As in physical CDs. I should edit my previous post to reflect that, heh…

I’m reripping the Eternia one, because for some strange reason the tracks were WMA…

I check VGMdb.net almost daily, and there’s listings for official Versus and RM2 OSTs, but no information besides that.

Also, it appears my upload of the Tales of Eternia Remaster Audio broke. I’ll try reupping it tomorrow on Megaupload while I’m at an anime convention (The hotel won’t miss the bandwidth. ;3), as well as the Tales of Phantasia Original Soundtrack Complete Version, since I reripped it and it fixed the timing problems that I had originally.

I’ll also review the list to see if there’s any other soundtracks I can upload (Such as the Legendia voice of character quest soundtracks. Disc 2 of volume 2 is purely music not on the OST).

I think a .cso file is a game rip, kind of like a rom for PSPs (like .iso files). Not sure.

About the kiseki, is there a need to reencode it to MP3 320kbps? ^ ^; I tested, the audio is actually mono 22050Hz (even though it’s originally stereo 44.1khz in the video), even if I convert it to FLAC (lossless) it it’s only around ~275kbps, VBR MP3 at max quality (V0) only hit 65kbps.

Amazon.co.jp usually charges a 2000yen shipping charge (about $20), despite that they can ship it EMS for only 1500yen (about $15). Than you have to consider the 5% tax on all sales made within Japan; not sure if it’s higher if you buy it from overseas (like the tax where you live, doesn’t seem to be, but I never paid too much attention).

And I don’t always like going through a middle man… as it seems expensive enough without one. You don’t really get much of a discount that way; if lucky you might save a few bucks buying the second hand one, when there’s still a normal brand new one purchasable through the site. Before they rose their prices, it wasn’t so bad… it was like only 500yen (about $5) more. So I bought a lot more second hand back than; now it doesn’t make much of a difference.

The cheapest I paid for a single back in the day… was something like $12 after shipping and taxes. That was the best deal I ever made; considering the only people who sold the single brand new… wanted $40 before taxes and shipping.

And I only plan to get the Last Summer album; the singles seem pricey.

Besides, the only thing missing off those singles now is the Karaoke’s. I know.. the Sora ni Kakeru Hashi ~Unplugged Version~ is very low; you can "normalize" it in either Audacity or Cool Edit if you have it. It’s sadly only 128 CBR; the other songs on that single were a bit better I believe, but that’s the best version I could find… which is nice, considering I found it at all; I was considering buying the single because I was having no luck finding the song earlier.

So… if lucky; I’ll maybe have it as soon as this coming Friday… so we’ll have to wait till than.

anyone know where i can find the track list of the Tales Of Vs. Soundtrack?

Hey um, upon downloading the Tales of VS. soundtrack, I got like… these random songs from the Tales series (Abyss, Legendia, Destiny, etc) that are from the ACTUAL game and have nothing to do with VS at all. Is it just me…? o.O

They tend to use a variety of their music in more than one game, saves money… and plus something less new they have to try to compose. I really feel sorry for Motoi Sakuraba… he’s probably running out of ideas by now (seeing as he’s been the major composer for most of the games). But what is new stuff… is still very good!

Sadly we don’t know where the real OST is… and seeing as most VGM databases don’t list it’s catalog number… I have no way of trying to hunt it down. Or Radiant Mythology 2 OST… both are already out, but I have no leads on them. And I’ve tried even looking up their calligraphy before with little to no luck.

Yeah, as for Radiant Mythology 2, all the places I find that claim it have it just come up with dead links. Caligraphy, you say…?

Tales of VS is random, that’s why. Like Tales of Fandom, Tales of Radiant Mythology, Tales of Mobile and others’ classified under Tales of Series. It’s because they are based on a mixture of the games… Tales of VS is like Super Smash Brothers Melee for Tales.

It’s a giant battle royal between all the past characters, and perhaps a few new ones not already playable before… I don’t know for certain. But it looks awesome.

The quality is great. I’ve wanted a rip of this version forever.

Notice: Disc 2 of the Tales of Destiny PS2 Remake Original Soundtrack has tracks missing. THe real disc has 33 tracks but in the archives are just 22 so 11 missing!!

Would it be possible to obtain the OST or rip of Tales of Destiny II (PS1)? All i’ve found is the ToD2 rip of the PS2 game which i believe never made it to the states and if it did, i completely missed it. I own ToD2 on my PS1 and have searched high and low for the OST or even a rip, but no luck, all i end up with is the PS2 version which apperantly is an entirely different game.

Actually Tales of Destiny II is known as Tales of Eternia in Japan, but its the same game. I believe there are a few links on the first page for ToE 😀

More than likely, unless someone in Japan rips it and ups it today. Otherwise, at least a few days before anyone in the states receives their copies that they ordered. Depending who they ordered it through, it could take anywhere from 3-7 days (amazon.jp.co) from as much as 1-3 months (CD Japan as they use the slowest shipping method available).

Was it a rip? If so than I’m not the one who provided the link… as the Game did get an official OST 4 discs [SSCX-10074~7] which is what I have on my computer. ^^;

I’m going by the time frame from when the Bayonetta OST released to when I obtained it, which was two days after its release.

But FFFFFFFFFFFFFFF I want both of the GAMES to come out stateside. I need a good PSP same-universe crossover fighting game. And I rather enjoy the first Radiant Mythology (Though the music could have been better).

I have Tales of VS. Original Soundtrack on pre-order, it will probably get uploaded before i get it, though. If not, i’ll upload it.

Speaking of which, whatever happened to this? What’s the delivery expectancy on it? Usually amazon.co.jp gives 3-5 day expectancy once shipped; add a possible 2 days before even shipped. But hoping that an English release of BoA’s single will give Namco-Bandai one more incentive for a state-side release: the fact they don’t have to hire someone to make a new NA opening (’cause it’s already available! 😀 )

If only…I want to know what Namco’s doing about Tales of VS. They filed a trademark for it in the US, and nothing’s been done with it for two months. They have until March to take action…

Maybe they’ll wait until Graces is released in Japan.

Not exactly, the composer of Legendia, Go Shiina, only did the songs of Tales Of Legendia, some of Tales Of the World Radiant Mythology 2 and arranged some for Tales Of VS.
The main composer of the tales series is Motoi Sakuraba. His style is very different from Shiina, but I love it too.

I’m with Jessie on that, I really don’t want to upload a lossless… 320vbr is pretty good as it is. And flac takes up a LOAD of room on my computer; which btw is the only place I could even listen to any of those lossless anyways… and seeing as I spend most my time on the road and happen to already have an MP3 player for my car… I prefer that format.

Uh…the first link is Last Battle ~will~, where the second link is Last Battle ~Decision~. They’re both on disc 4 of the Tales of Symphonia soundtrack (Tracks 18 and 19 respectively).

If you mean the part where Last Battle ~Decision~ echoes, that’s just an effect. It’s not part of the song.

Those "Tales 10th anniversary soundtrack", are they rearranged tracks like the albums "Battle arrange tracks’, "Piano arrange tracks" or the ToD:DC Premium box soundtrack?

It seems to match up with the special DVD release version of the song on "Orange Gumi"; which someone somewhere was nice enough to rip from the DVD.

So… you could say it’s a Rearranged version. The other songs probably follow suit too… I was hoping the owner of the CD would step up to tell us more about it… but guess this will have to do.

BTW, does anyone know when the Tales of Graces official soundtrack is coming out?

Yeah, I have been as well. It’s a pretty good OST. I’d recommend it to anybody who needs something new to listen to in the meantime.

I’ve heard a few of the battle tracks, and they sounded pretty damn awesome. And that’s pretty much what I get OSTs for.

If you get an error while extracting some tracks, just repair the archive. I’ve added a recovery recorded, so it should extract fine after repairing.

Open the rar archive instead of extracting it and then go to tools, select repair archive from the list, then select where you want the repaired archive to be saved (you don’t really have to do this) and press ok . It’ll take a little while to repair, depending on the filesize, but it’ll say when it’s done. Once the recovery is finished it’ll give you another rar archive with the same name as the original rar archive, but with fixed at the beginning. Extract this archive and the music should all extract fine.

Sadly it doesn’t seem it was released on either of her two singles for that song… but there is a full instrumental… yes, it’s actually instrumental. As the Version of the CD I have had the Karaoke; and the other version had the instrumental. *has listened and compared both*

Tales Series Music Thread
Many of the other big series have their own threads (Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, Mega Man, etc.), so I figured it was time to make a Tales one.

I plan on uploading several of the soundtracks over the next few days, but I could really use some help. If anyone has any of these, please upload it in the highest quality possible and I’ll update my post here when I get a chance to include your link if you want it used. Ideally, I’d like to have a lossless and an mp3 version of each. I only have access to a couple of the CDs to rip as lossless, so any help on that front would be great.

Just as a tip to keep links active, if you use something like Megaupload, name the file as something inconspicuous, like an abbreviation or something. The links shouldn’t be taken down that way.

Guess I can’t help on that one since the rip seems to be down – but I wonder if those multiple themes are really called like this – I mean, Bare it’s Fangs is in Tales of Destiny 2’s OST included with the name "Timeline" (I’m almost sure, that track was in ND3 too when you fought Stahn or Kyle (not sure) in the Arena) and one of the Take Up the Cross is surely the remix "Ability Test" which is in Tales of Eternia when you fight Cless and Arche in the Arena (similar fight is in ND3’s Arena, but not sure about the opponent’s there, it was surely Cless and Mint or so, the track plays there too).

Maybe you should take a deeper look into these 🙂

Nyeh, like I said, I only have the emulated minigsf files which are sorted differently. And about that Theme of Battle ~Future~ – beware, that the version of "Dead or Alive" in ND3 is actually "Dead or Alive ~Past~" from Destiny 2 also (significant faster than the usual "Dead or Alive").

Anyway, I can’t wait for a new up, I don’t mind missing tags 🙂

It is, it’s one of the latest missions you get, when your main characters split up – one team goes visiting Yggdrassil in ToP’s Thor (if I remember it right, it was the mission with those annoying barriers) while the other team seem to go to ToD’s Dycroft (which plays "Dead or Alive ~Past~") and pay Barbatos a little visit 🙂

Frankly, the highlight of NariDan X’s music – for me at least – was more the remade Tales of Phantasia tracks, some of which are really, really good this time around, compared to the clusterfuck that was the Playstation version’s soundfonts.

It’s a good idea but unfortunately.. I don’t really have the money for even one of them right now XD” I almost hit the "buy" Button for the first CD when I looked up the price for Graces f (which I’ll pre-order in a few days) but…. Blame Tales of Graces f T_T And Yuri!!
