Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons FANCS20 2015 [238 minutes approx.]



Fanderson three disc set of enhanced and remastered music from Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons. It contains music written for, or used in, all but three episodes ("The Heart of New York" and "Treble Cross" contain no original music and the recordings for "Traitor" are lost).

Using mainly percussion, brass and wind instruments, the music sounds sparse and stripped back in contrast to the full orchestral sound of Thunderbirds. With the exception of the four-note Mysteron theme, Gray usually restricted his use of synthesisers to space sequences. There are three versions of 'I've Got Something To Shout About'. There is an instrumental version, the second which was a commercial release was indeed sung by Gary Miller. But the best version is the third sung by Ray Barratt who voiced Duke Dexter in the actual episode.

I don't know if it's appropriate to post this album on this thread, so I'll just ask instead

It's not made by Barry Gray, but it's an actual album related to Terrahawks

In Japan, the Japanese-dubbed version of Terrahawks had an anime OP/ED and 10 exclusive songs made for that version, which include 8 vocal tracks and 2 BGM tracks. It's only been released on LP so far and can be quite hard to find

As mentioned in the previous post, the Japanese-dubbed version of this show was given 2 new things that the original dub didn't have: an anime
OP/ED and several new songs that were made exclusively for the dub, which include 8 vocal songs and 2 BGM tracks. The soundtrack,
which has yet to be released on CD, was incredibly hard to find at first but several copies have actually popped up for sale a while ago
(all of which are now gone, except for a $55 copy that's on Discogs right now).

I couldn't see the Thunderbirds Are Go/Thunderbird 6 isolated soundtracks anywhere here, so I've ripped them and compiled an album of the music cues from each film. Doing this revealed some missing material that had been on the albums, which in turn led me to compare the different versions of the CDs, and before long I had a double-disc collection for each movie - so I hope you won't mind my uploading them here as supplementary 'releases'. (I see there was a Thunderbirds Are Go fan-made album upped here some years ago but all the links to that seem to be inactive now...)

Based on the La-La Land 2014 CD releases of each score (previously uploaded here), these editions add extra material from the commercial releases by Century 21, EMI, Fanderson, Silva Screen, MGM and, most importantly, the blu-ray isolated soundtracks from Twilight Time. Full notes are included detailing the origin of each track, along with artwork in the style of vintage LPs.

Was generally disappointed with the set. I was hoping for a complete remix in WIDE stereo. Only the Main and End Titles were remixed this way. Everything else sounds pretty much the same, fairly narrow stereo mixes except The Taybor which, in both cases, is slightly wider. The full Destination Moonbase Alpha End Title music is a welcome addition but is a little wobbly.
Worth having, in the end, but still could have been better.

I am still in two minds about Wandsworth's score as Barry Gray was so much a feature of Anderson productions , but this is still a fantastic upload to a fantastic tv show that made a disasterous reboot with its second series.

LucyS came through with all the other releases and Joe 90 is the one that I have been waiting fof for a long time, must be nearly 2 years since it was first annouced.

If you used JDownloader to download/extract the files, you will get an extraction error message (it uses an older version of WinRAR).
Use WinRAR v5.50 (the most recent version) to extract the files. I have downloaded/extracted the speccy geek files with no problem. :)

I've used WinRAR 3.93 for many years, but this is the first time I've had this issue on any RAR files, maybe the files were compressed with a newer / less-compatible format than most people use? I'll try 7zip as that doesn't want another €29 for the upgrade. [Edit: That worked]
