I actually had a weird thought when I was playing the game. I was sure that, in the demo, Chris held his gun as if he was right handed, yet in the game it seems left handed.

I might have just imagined it. But whatever.

I have been playing it since I downloaded it an hour ago. So far my best score is 53,170, on Slayers in Ancient Ruins.

It's fun, but I'm a little pissed off. I phoned my brother up and told him to log into my account so he could download it. He then started telling me he was exited because he had been reading his guide and it had some cool stuff about Slayers/Survivors. This is annoying because it shows that Capcom have basically ripped us as consumers off for �3.99. It was already done when they released the game. Strategy guides (at least the one my brother says he has) have information about the DLC that was released almost a month after the game. Why did they not just put it in with the game?!

Yes, I know that they need to make money. But i think it's silly to charge for something that could easily have been put into the game. LBP is different because people are still working on new ideas and stuff to make the game different. This was already a finished product.

This, and other examples like it(Microsoft paying Bethesda to not make a PS3 port of the expansion for Fallout 3 being one. Though I can't really complain, Microsoft did fund the expansion. But Bethesda could have just payed for it themselves and then got money from both 360 and PS3 owners), are reasons why I worry that sooner or later people who don't have Internet/money to buy DLC will start to suffer because the games will just not be anywhere near as good unless you pay for the extras.

Versus is great fun though!

Nope. It's just like mercenaries from RE4 (if you ever played it). You can find guns and ammo around the arena and from enemy drops. I particularly loved finding a Rocket launcher when I was playing with my brother and killing him before he even saw I had it! That was in survivors mode.

...Like I've got room to talk.*grin* I got maxed out weapons(insofar as they CAN be upgraded) by exploiting a loophole in the game, instead of bulling on through, upgrading piecemeal as you had to in RE4, so...yeah. I got no right.*laughs*

No worries about the laser. I got confused for a second because I was wondering how in the world that I managed to die and I didn't recall moving the mirror in the incorrect direction. I figured it was an accident though. :-)

We should play the Execution Grounds and the Boat level in Co-Op just for kicks sometime though. :-)

Execution Grounds is where you can get Lead Asprin, easy. I just happened to be there playing through Veteran last night and tried the trick and got it.

For those who have reached Chapter 5-1 or beyond:

Is it me or are the Lickers in this game annoying as hell? They almost refuse to go down, and shooting a shotgun at a semi-distance hardly makes them flinch. This particularly sucks when they're in a horde.

Forget the freakin' Grenade Launcher. Takes like 6 Grenade Rounds to take them out. Of course, I haven't tried how effective the other grenade ammo types work on them.

Acid rounds do the job. Try to get them into a group and then let rip with 2 or 3. Alternatively, upgrade the M3 to the best that you can, 2 shots with a fully upgraded one and they go down. Though it's harder to hit more than one at a time with the M3.

Yeah, acid rounds all the way. Dunno if you've played RE2, but it was that way there too. 'Nade rounds should be saved for standard Majini, electric rounds work against a very nasty enemy called a Reaper(trust me, you'll know it when you see it!), and fire, flash and nitrogen rounds should be used as the situation requires(crowd control, basically).

So, I had my first go on "Versus". I came across a douchebag who thought he was hot stuff. I guess he had his bluetooth or mic on because I could hear him talk. He was being a prick and shooting at me and the other people, so I decided to fight back. I think he had Midnight Wesker and since I don't have any other characters unlocked, I had BSAA Chris.

Totally p'wned him twice during the run. He called me "faggot" for killing him twice. LOL!

I think it's stupid you can kill each other during the modes where you're trying to kill as many enemies as possible.

Anyway... I guess I have to play more Mercenaries to unlock the other characters.

Ah, I see. I think I only have like 42,000 total so far since I spent a good portion of it for unlimited ammo for Handcannon and the Rifle. And squandered a few thousand on the Figurines.

Making a run through the game in "Amateur" mode now.

My quest for money-hunting has ended. I already purchased all weapons and upgrades for them. At this point, collecting 1 of each treasure will suffice for me. :-)

I earned mine on Chapter 4-1 (the chapter where you first enter the Cave and Ruins). In the Chapter, you get separated where Sheva crosses the bridge and you don't and have to battle some Wetland Majini on a lower level while she covers from the top area. Weaken a Majini with a couple of Handgun bullets and then lay the Rotten Egg into him.

I've never had a problem with her healing at inappropriate times. However, I've had problems with her burning through her ammo like it's going out of style.

I guess it's because I like to hold onto herbs / faid sprays and ammo and only use them when I absolutely must, she still has that "Wow I'm an African aristocratic Lara Croft" look about her and I only give her the pistol and a storage space for spare ammunition with the weapons equipped to me.

She does waste health items the second either one of you are missing ANY health.

Just take away her weapons, weaken a manjini with your regular handgun and toss that egg. I took her weapons so I could get Be the Knife :D

Thanks guys. Managed to pull it off, as well as get the "Be the Knife" achievement(took me FOREVER to get the timing).

Best thing to do with Sheva(believe it or not) is give her the MP5 and nothing else. The Piercing attribute fits her style of play, since she always aims for the torso, and it's especially nice when you come across shield Majini. If you're running low on MG ammo, she performs admirably with a Stun Rod.

Also, I dunno if anyone's noticed, but be VERY careful if you have her collect herbs. She loves to be stupid and mix two greens, instead of waiting for a red herb. I have not, however, experienced her being stupid with healing...at one point, I was down to a third of my health, and she still wasn't healing me.

I've never seen her mix herbs of her own initiative. Wow o_O

Yeah, she's done that many times with my green herbs. It usually doesn't bother me because most stages are littered with herbs. :-)

Patricia Ja Lee, the Pink Ranger from Power Rangers in Space, did the voice of Jill. I adored that show so much when I was 16/17. She was one of my favorites. Nice to see she is still enhancing her career.

I have seen this while using the knife there. However, if you shoot the crate/barrel from a distance and have it jump out, you are guarantee to get an egg when you shoot it on the ground.

Weirdness. Whenever I shoot the snakes, I would always get eggs(be it on RE5 or RE4), but these two instances I happened to be on the ball and knifed them before they jumped, I got squat.

I still seriously wonder if this is a glitch, or if Capcom is just thumbing it's nose at us...*shrug*

Finally got "Ride the Lightning" achievement(kill a Majini with electricity). I know, slowpoke.jpg, but I never remember to do it during Chapter 1-1's mob rush, and in Chapter 2-1, I have more important things to worry about. Still trying to time a shot into an oil canister to get "Stop, Drop, and Roll"(set 3 Majini on fire with an oil canister).

Just do that right after you stop the truck in 2-1. I think it's 2-1, the one after 1-2.

Actually, those are the wrong ones to use for that achievement. The earliest I've seen what I think to be the RIGHT objects to use are in the ship's hold(Chapter 6-1)...when I shot some of those things, they spread fire like an incendiary grenade.

This is more of a technical question, but it is related to Resident Evil 5.

For those who have a PS3 (I don't know how it does it on XBox), whenever you're in the PS3 menu and you select the game disc, the background changes to Chris and Sheva holding their guns.

Does anyone know how to extract that image from the game disc or if it's even possible? I really dig that image would love to use it as a background for my PS3.

Hmm... I was under the impression that the max combo was killing of forty consecutive enemies between both players... but then again, when I read the requirements for the trophy, I sort of figured that might have been the realistic way to do it. Ugh... that's going to be a pain. We can give it a go whenever you want.

Oh, that one! I got that one confused with the "It Takes Two to Tango" trophy from Versus mode.

Somehow, I got the Max Combo thing by accident with the computer at the beginning of Chapter 2-1 with a Majini. Sheva was appropriately positioned to hit him in the back after hooked him, and then I did something to complete the combo.

Well, just finished up Veteran mode last night... so it's time to give the Professional mode a shot.

Still debating whether to do it the "fair" way though, meaning should I use my infinite ammo weapons, or go through the game only using the weapons that are available as I progress through each stage. Of course, I'm not using the original, original guns because I don't want to have to upgrade everything again...

Edit: Dang... I keep double posting at random times... how annoying...

Managed to beat the game in 2 days. Still liked RE4 better.

Now you keep working to unlock everything. You know the drill.

It was easier to unlock everything in RE4. I was trying to upgrade my weapons to the fullest before having to return it.

Managed to get the PSG-1, LH Magnum, and the first handgun with infinite ammo though :D. But even then, still liked RE4 better. I don't really know why. There's something about that one that I just didn't get with this one. At least, not yet. I'll just try and beat the games I have that still need to be beaten before picking this one up again.

Man, I'm pissed. Was playing Team Survivors and I sucked royally tonight. We did well in the first two rounds, but then got beat 6 times in a row... Two of them we would have won if my partner hadn't tried to go for the kill in the last 20 seconds...

So I managed to get 1 million+ in a span of maybe a few hours. Managed to upgrade all my weapons to the max and had a few hundred thousand left over. I guess I didn't realize it, but I played with the on-line Co-op and it's way better than playing by yourself.

I'm currently running through the game to get my infinite rocket launcher. almost at the end with a little under 3 hours (just beat the Excella Uroboros).

Didn't help me at all. Got hit once with both vests on and I died. So I removed them and replaced them with either shotgun shells (don't have Hydra with unlimited ammo yet) or First Aid Sprays.

Unlimited Hydra is SCHWEEET. My shotty of choice. I use it on the facehuggers.

I wish it was the most powerful shotgun (the M3 is) but it seems to be quicker than the others and that's why I use it.

Yeah, it's quick and the spread is delightful. Hydra, ftw.

I have like 300 something first aid sprays. I don't have anything else to spend money on, so I buy them all the time.

On chapter 4-2 now after starting back playing it last week. Once i changed the controls to the type Neg told me about, i was able to play it easily.

Type D. Tank controls made awesome with a simple change of camera perspective. Hi5, Catty.

Nah, I've completed the game on all levels already, but I've had an itch to play again. I want to play with a human player to spice things up a bit.

I've played it, and I liked it (it was SOOOO much fun the El Gigante in the foot XD) but I have to admit... I like RE4 better. Maybe it was Leon, maybe it was the funny cutscenes, maybe it was the chanting cult dudes, or the Wolverine guy, I dunno know. Something was just... better with RE4. And I missed the Merchant :P

I still loved RE5 though, even if Wesker is the most annoying boss EVER... but they could have added some new Regenerators or something. It was nice to not have to protect Ashley all the time though >.<

That's weird cause it doesn't bother me at all. When I played as both characters.

I should try out all the characters I've unlocked for Mercs, but B.S.A.A. Chris just works so well. Sure, I could have a handcannon or some rocket launchers, but starting with a F.A. Spray is really alluring. Plus, Ithica shotty takes care of bidness.

I've never felt underpowered like I did in 4's, with Leon. I also don't feel overpowered, as with Krauser.

last time I played I was Jill (<3), I don't remember. Care to play a round when I get home Neg?

I'm sorry for the double post but that other one is at least a day old. Just realised something quite amusing about reloading. Been playing for weeks and weeks and I never knew there was an actual command to reload. (LT + A on the 360). No one ever told me this. I have been using the Mercenaries 'quick reload' method all this time (albeit a little slower).

Well I found that funny anyway.

The girlfriend has a 360, and I often play at hers. I don't have a machine at home and wont until next month, so here in lies the big question. Do I get the 360 and pay the damn subs to play online with her, or go for the PS3 and not pay for online gaming at all? (If that is actually the case - do you pay nothing?)

I don't have any friends online. I haven't had enough time to actually play with 360 members for long enough to consider the few I have added on my girlfriends profile as friends. PS3 might be the way forward here. Being a student too I don't really want to be shelling out x amount of cash every month/quarter for a renewed Gold membership.

Might just have to not tell the missus I got a PS3? Or create some elaborate lie. It was I that convinced her to get her 360 in the first place, but then her first choice was a fucking Wii. PS3 was out of her price bracket.

I play on the PSN, I like the game but at the same time disappointed with it... They took a few movesets that I was used to, but I can understand considering that this is SNK's re-birth. Also, I didn't like Street Fighters IV that much, and I am pretty much a KoF fanboy. I do love me some KoF.

Also, about RE5 they are basically the same game, I've played on both systems, but I just can't get used to Xbox controllers... and I need to feel comfortable playing a game so for me it was the PS3 version.

I have outgrown the small baby-fingered playstation controller. Although I found the fat original Xbox controller the most comfortable one I've used, the 360 is a close second.

I had a lot of connection issues in the beginning. When I changed my router settings to use OpenDNS, all PS3 connectivity problems went away.
