I watched this again just last week to see if it had aged well and it was still reasonably good imo, a bit badly paced (like all of T's movies) but hardly the worst thing ever made.

I just think it's been built up a bit too much because it's a Quentin Tarantino film, so it just must be epic and bad ass which it can be at times, but most of the film was a guy whining, crying and dying on a floor.

Well, Reservoir Dogs wasn't the best and I think everyone can admit to Jackie Brown being a letdown (and possibly Death Proof) but Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill, and Inglourious Basterds were all epic and bad ass without a doubt.

I can point you quite a few other directors with their best movies being worse than the worst movie of Tarantino, if there actually is one.

He may be talking about this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0gEDUDmZkyc) Black Sheep. Though I'm not sure why he would say either one since both are pretty good and I own the Farley Black Sheep. And you're right, not as good as Tommy Boy, but still very funny imo. Now, Hollywood Ninja, that was crap in a bag. And I don't quite get Cabin Fever either, I thought it was decent.

I despised the first Hulk movie that came out in....2003 I think it was. Total Nonsense.

Spiderman 3 was one of the biggest disappointments of my life. Especially coming off the high that was Spiderman 2.

The Dust Factory. Anyone even heard of that one? It's a terrible movie. Don't even look it up.

Santa Claus Defeats the Aliens - the official definition of cinematic suck.

Never seen it? Well, this basically sums it up: picture Mars Attacks filmed in the 60's against a Christmas backdrop with the CG replaced with cardboard sets and costumes (I'm not kidding) and shorn of the big name Hollywood stars in favour of a bunch of acting academy rejects.

Absolutely horrible. And officially (according the Golden Raspberry Awards) the 'second worst film of all time'. If you ever have the misfortune of coming across it (I won't degrade the film medium any further by addressing this as such), avoid! AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!

For me, my most-hated film is "Precious." A horrible indulgent misery-porn film so completely convinced of its own importance that it completely forgets to actually be good. It's poorly constructed, stylistically inconsistent, and just generally awful. It piles problem upon problem until it ultimately breaks believability. (It's not enough that Precious has a son with Down Syndrome after being raped by her drug-addict father, but they actually name the Down-Syndrome-incest-rape-child "Mongo" because it's short for "Mongoloid." By the end of the film, when she discovers that she has AIDS - another problem that they just pile onto her without it ever actually playing any role in the film beyond "one last misery to give to her" - it's almost inevitable because it is almost literally the only thing left that they haven't done to her yet.) And it's so smug in its portrayal of "what really happens," even though it's not. Certainly, there are people who are horribly abused in this world, and it's wrong. But for someone to have lived through the constant barrage of abuse shown in the film? If someone had undergone that kind of constant daily attack and by some miracle made it out alive, you would not get a Precious out the other end, so funny and kind and sweet; you would get someone hardened and bitter and angry. (I say this as someone who has met and talked with kids who have been removed from abusive homes, as well as child offenders.) It's a film that presents an extreme excessive view of abuse, but centered around a character who is so nice and likable in order to allow the film to have an utterly unrealistic happy ending so that all us liberal white people can walk out heartwarmed and hopeful. It's an awful film, and words cannot describe

The other film I really hate is "Funny Games," in both versions. Technically a really impressive film (Haneke is a great director, and the film does have some of the best filmmaking I've ever seen), but it's all in pursuit of a film that is just horrible to watch, where Haneke is actively trying to assault the audience, and in so doing he fundamentally misunderstands the way an audience's sympathies lie in certain types of films.

But at least "Funny Games" is underpinned by exceptional filmmaking. I may hate what the film says, but it says it really well. (Seriously, for the film to have that kind of harrowing effect on the audience while having almost no on-screen violence is a testament to Haneke's skill as a filmmaker.) "Precious" is just a badly-made film. I'm bewildered by the plaudits it received last year, and I just look forward to ten years time, when people revisit the film and find themselves asking "what were we thinking?"

Zoran

Wow...I totally forgot about this thread. Shame on me...

the forbidden kingdom was based on virtua fighter? i didn't know that.

No, but it makes a blatant reference to Virtua Fighter 2 that is embarrassingly inaccurate. I just used that for an example of the numerous stupid attempts at characterizing the main protagonist as a fan of martial arts/Asian culture. Another would be the idea of this asswipe buying a bootleg of the US-produced Enter The Dragon...

In short, EVERYTHING wrong with that movie stems from the forced and needless inclusion of a white protagonist to introduce the audience to a Chinese story.

the hilariousness of NOTM, imo, stems from the fact that they accurately parody the teen movie genre. you're right about the shock value gags though.

There's still the fact that the so-called spoof is just another teen movie. Therefore...failure.

and i see what you mean about the xmen movies. it annoyed me how wolverine-centric the movies were, especially since he is not that awesome of a character (inb4neg). regarding cyclops, he never really did have much to his character in the comics, at least not until recently (at least imo)

Then I should tell you that you're COMPLETELY wrong about Cyclops. The guy has a lot of depth (reluctant leader, orphan, father/son relationship with Xavier, etc.) that the movies in no way explore, and there's plenty about Wolverine that they get wrong on top of being boring as hell...

and before i go on a fanboy rant, i must ask you to clarify this: "Of course, the truth is that the film never had much a chance to be good considering what it was following..." are you saying that xmen as a whole was not a good source material or that xmen 3 is a terrible movie because the arc it was based on was terrible.

Neither. I'm saying that the presentation of the X-Men films made it impossible to make a decent interpretation of the Phoenix Saga with or without the talentless hack Brett Ratner at the helm.

Anyhoo, with that out of the way, it's time to add a few more stinkers to the list...

Eragon (We've seen this done better. It's called Star Wars...)
Resident Evil: Extinction (I can say that having seen it...)
Resident Evil: Afterlife (What is Umbrella trying to accomplish anyway...?)
Ultraviolet
Avatar (Yeah, I fuggin' said it...)
The Covenant
The Last Airbender (Terribly written, terribly performed, and unconsciously racist)
Clash of the Titans '10 (Sam Worthington is like a black-hole of charisma)
Fatal Deviation
An American Carol
The Twilight Saga as a whole (I didn't explain before, but here goes: The entire story is an anti-adventure. Think about it...)
King of Fighters (it's like Mortal Kombat...only stupid)
Cloverfield (The only thing that was memorable about it is the method of filming)

Of course there's more, but that'll do for now...

I recently watched Silent Night Deadly Night for the first time! While I don't think it's the worst film I've ever seen - wasn't long before I worked out it was a B movie! But because I found the weak/bad parts so hilarious I'm seriously tempted to purchase a copy of it on dvd over the Xmas holiday. Some bad movies really are worth the purchase! Though not sure I'm going to bother with the sequels lol! For a good B movie Christmas laugh I'd recommend both this one and Jack Frost/Jack Frost 2 (Michael Cooney versions).

"Tremors" should be a waste of time? I love the movies all of theme. I even thought about buying the TV serie.

But I have som realy bad movies:

"Neverending Story 3" and "Tales from the Neverending Story":
If you love the book, you hate this films. I startet "Tales from..." but I finished watching after 1 hour of the 6 hours and I will never ever watch it again. I just have sold the DVD's. Part 3 of the cinema film is also a no-go. Part two was watchable but I wouldn't recommend it. But part one of the franchise (1984 by Wolfgang Petersen) is a great movie - even it has a lot of differents to the book, this is a classic.

A newer movie that could be the "worst movie ever" ist Titanic 2. It's not a sequel to James Camerons Titanic. It is just about a replica of the Titanic (with the very creative name "Titanic 2"). And oh wonder, what happens to Titanic 2? It hit's an iseberg and sinks. With a lot of tsunamis, bad actors, bad computer animations. There was only one reason for me to watch this film: I am a Titanic fan.

Tremors was never a movie meant to be taken seriously. It was a movie to get a chuckle out of... all four are that way. Tremors is a horror movie, in the same vein that Evil Dead III: The Army of Darkness is, and that's a great movie as well.

I remember that movie... made in 1980 when everyone thought it was still in one piece. Of course, in 1985, Dr. Robert Ballard and Jean-Louis Michel found the wreck and the discovery of the RMS Titanic in two pieces. Even as cheesy as it was... still a movie one could watch and have a chuckle at.

I've seen a couple Bollywood movies... i'm too fuckin tired to go into detail (I had a rant right after watching it that was pretty fucking funny in retrospect) but the worst movie i've ever seen is called My Name is Khan. The way they portray Aspergers Syndrome in that movie makes me cringe.

At least Transformers 2 had fanservice (actually i haven't seen it). My Name is Khan.... low standards going in and frankly I was actually expecting an American movie on the lessons of tolerance and shit. What I got was a half-assed -- no, not even half-assed -- like 1%assed Bollywood way of doing it. It was a cringe-worthy movie to watch in theaters but funny to complain about.

Oh yeah and the guy they picked to play Obama was pretty fuckin dark.... at least that's the way the screen made him look.

'The Plague' by Clive Barker. It earns a solid 5/10 from me.

I'm not even spoiler tagging this. You don't need to care what the story is; it's nothing you'll care about once you get about twenty minutes into the movie, and besides, the whole premise (all you need to know) is on the packaging anyway. Watch it and judge for yourself. This is my opinion, though I will forewarn you my opinion is also shared across many avenues of moviegoers and critics alike. Not even Twilight has reviews as bad as ones I've seen for this. . . .

Seriously, when I see Clive Barker attached to a film, I anticipate something of quality. While this has some pretty decent moments and a few exceptional characters, it's just not that great. I recall seeing this on TV many years back, in about '07, starting at about two-thirds of the way into the movie. With little idea what the hell was going on, I sat down, somewhat intrigued by what appeared to be an interesting zombie-like movie I'd never seen before. I think I started watching right after the officer offers the broken leg dude some 'body of Christ' to eat. . . . Seriously, WTF?! Stupid line is stupid -_- Unfortunately, the bulk of the film leading up to this is anything but suspenseful. Much of it honestly feels like something geared toward Twilight fans–I'm not even kidding. The zombies feel like something straight out of Buffy the Vampire Slayer (with no frickin' explanation as to why the hell they're like that, among countless other things never explained–oh, sorry, except with religious undertones >.<) and the two nineteen year-olds would've been better cast in Twilight (freakin' thirteen year-old emos in nineteen year-old bodies anyhow -_-). (p.s. Do you think I've mentioned Twilight enough? Seriously, when you have a GF who drags you to every single freaking one of those movies, you learn a new kind of loathing for them >.<) Though I will say, the intro to the movie (this movie, not Twilight) right up until the now-adult kids all wake up is done pretty well, even if the reason for all of it is never explained; I don't even think Barker knew where the pluck he was going with this thing. Seeing the guy's son all grown up, pale and sickly was, admittedly, chilling. But the suspense ends there. I think the zombie teens might've actually been a little scarier had we not seen so much of them. At the end, when they all gather around the house Jean wakes up in, there's a slightly different air about them; they don't all behave like emo punks trying to score some loot from everybody they see.

Ultimately, the way I remembered this movie winds up being better than how it actually is. Watch it if you want, just don't expect usual Barker-ness. You're free to make up your own conclusions as to what's really going on, cuz the film ain't gonna give ya anything but speculation :-/

I think it's a three-way tie between Superman returns, Dragon Ball evolution, and Pluto Nash. Three movies that were just so bad that I did not know what's to do with myself and felt dirty after I watched it. How anyone is okay with Superman being a peeping Tom, having dull colors in his costume, a tiny raised shield that looks atrocious and no bulge in his crotch is beyond me. Both Superman and Dragon Ball were products of the worst directors imaginable with the worst writers imaginable who had no love or passion for the story, warping it to astronomical degrees. Superman cost over 200 million to make but didn't make back third of it, Dragon Ball cost around 75 million and also to make back 20%, but Pluto Nash cost 100 million to make it only made back 7 million.

(by the way the new Superman looks even worse, didn't think it was possible)

Enemy Of The State
Enemy of the State (1998) - IMDb (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0120660/)

This movie is racist, be it the depiction of Italians or the overall "intelligence" of the story. It falls back into a fashion were movies targeted at black audiences need to be dumbed down on almost every levels, so "they" would understand - a fashion that was overcome long time ago before this stinker hit the screen. Will Smith is especially guilty of staring in such movies, luckily, not lately.
I am white, i am not living in the US, but if something reeks i smell it. On a side note: Nothing against a dumb movie, Crank was excellent in that manner, i am probably white trash, lol, but mix in racist ideas and you loose your appeal to me.

Good thing I didn't saw it in the theaters. Still I regret for the money I spent to rent it and the time I spent to watch (I almost fell asleep while I was watching it). Street Fighter 1994 wasn't the worst I've seen. But it was still bad.
ISKWYDLS - Sequel to the 1997 movie which was better which starred Jennifer Love Hewitt, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Freddie Prinze Jr, Ryan Phillipe
MK Annihilation - had some good scenes, SFX and music IMO, but overall bad
Elm Street remake
Batman Forever - Same deal as Annihilation IMO. Forever was definitely better than B&R. Actually was a bit decent. Didn't expect it to hold up to the popular 5. But Forever sucked still for the most part.

Rush Hour 3 - I love the first 2 movies but I didn't really care for this one. They are also going to make a Rush Hour 4... please stop, the first 2 were amazing.

All the live action Resident Evil movies

I've seen a bunch of badly written dialogue and acting in a bunch of SyFy movies but I still manage to watch some of them if the monster looks somewhat decent...

Batman & Robin (with Clooney), Cowboys & Aliens, Alone in the Dark, Sharknado, Meteor Man, DRAGONBALL EVOLUTION, and Mac and Me. Loved Mac & Me as a small child, but it does not withstand the test of time and it is a generic ET type ripoff and seems to be shamelessly funded and sponsored by coca-cola.

and yes.... nolan movies and approach to batman simply raped everything Bruce Wayne originally stands for. If I was a terrorist I would put my Bat-Stick in his ass and explode his body.
The movies are horrible for any Batman fan. Horrible and stupid.-

Dude, get a grip on reality. Sure you can sit back and beat off to Adam West and Burt Ward as the Dynamic Duo if that's your thing but times change and Christian Bale just craps all over every one who has come before him, especially Val Kilmer and George Clooney with his bat nipples.

Michael Keaton in Tim Burton's Batman duology was better than Bale imo. Burton's Batman movies had a darker gothic feel to them, than Nolan's Batman Trilogy. Burton also had a better Joker than Nolan... Jack Nicholson was far better than the late Heath Ledger.

Burton's Batman also had a better Batmobile as well...

I agree with Darth Revan. I also liked Tim Burton's movies more.

A recent movie I seen I thought was bad was R.I.P.D. I do like the Men In Black movies, and I thought this looked similar so I seen it. I dunno. It was just a really weird movie in general. It didn't make any sense whatsoever. Good thing I seen it at the cheap seats and didn't pay full price at the regular theater...

Orie
01-11-2014, 01:26 AM
I always liked Heath Ledger, yes... but that Nolan movie.... that was SIMPLY NOT -- THE JOKER.
It was just a guy that painted his face with shit.
Clearly Nolan NEVER understood the relationship between Joker and Batman. Why is the Joker the Number one Enemy of Batman? Because there is all a big psychological issue around those two. I am not going to farther this topic.
Tim Burton's movies were much more faithful to what is Batman. Some ups and downs in both movies, yes, but there is not perfect movie.
Michael Keaton was the best Batman EVER.

Speaking of bad movies...

BATMAN & ROBIN

I just wanted to throw up as soon as I see George Cloney as Bruce Wayne. That was just a kick in my balls.... and pretty much everything in that movie is horrible.
My dear Poison Ivy.... Uma Thurman.....uhgapo ybt8yphj
I hate that movie.-

The absolute(!) worst: "The Beast with a Million Eyes" (1955) by David Kramarsky:

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/4/4c/Poster_of_the_movie_The_Beast_with_a_Million_Eyes. jpg/220px-Poster_of_the_movie_The_Beast_with_a_Million_Eyes. jpg

Not only does the "creature" in the movie look NOTHING like that (the poster was, as usual with AIP, designed before the movie was shot), the 70+ minute film is so amateurish and devoid of suspense it feels longer than Taylor's Cleopatra. The "creature", btw, is in fact a coffee machine half-buried in the sand. And that's not even the worst aspect of this stinker!

When you're talking about live-action Batman then I fully agree. But if we take that aside....then the best Batman ever is Kevin Conroy from the animated series. Without a single doubt in my mind.

Stallone's Cobra. Ye gods, that movie is the best unintentional satire of 80's action ever committed to film. It's so bad it's hilarious. (Stallone looking like George Michael from the Father Figure music video, bad guys slamming chromed axes - how did they get them so shiny? - together in unison, Brigitte Nielsen looking like, well, Brigitte Nielsen, dumb bad guys who ride their motorcycles in single file so Stallone can shoot them that much easier and deep and meaningful character development in the form of Stallone cutting his pizza with a pair of scissors.)

And yes I own the blu-ray. It's comedy gold. (Have a bad day, pop it in the blu-ray.) But I use it sparingly, great power like that must be used wisely.

Okay, there was one thing I liked about the film: Cobra's car was cool. (Not as cool as Mad Max's V-8 Interceptor, but then what car can compare?) Too bad they both got totaled.

I agree, what rubbish. My worst films generally are remakes. For me 'The day the earth stood still' remake was an abomination. It was as if the filmmakers went out of their way to make a bad film. Usually a remake will have or bring something fresh to the table. Not so with TDTESS, utter waste of my time.

Shamalamadingdong really is quite terrible.
Kind of like eli roth, they just became way more famous and celebrated then there was ANY justification or reason for.

I've got my suspicions why some people seem to get arbitrarily chosen by hollywood for undue celebrity,
but one potentially less offensive reason seems to me to just be the sorry state of modern horror.

Its become rather hipster recently with vampires and zombies and gore porn everywhere,
its more like pop music then genre these days.
More about celebrity for celebrities own sake then someone really playing a good tune.

I didn't mind Signs, was pretty good I thought when it first came out. Also, I don't know how people think Prometheus is terrible, may not be your cup of tea but as a continuation/prequel of Alien I thought it was very good.

That's blasphemy. It's supposed to be a surprise to the viewer when all the shit goes down. Unfortunately the marketing campaign spoiled it at the time.

The film is intended to be a straight up heist/robbery kind of film, with the horror stuff coming out of left field.
