I still cannot find any of the game's alert themes. I.E. Middle East Alert.

Also I can't find the final battle theme, which included altered versions of "Encounter" and "Tanker Incident".

I would get them myself, but I am incapable of recording.

I wish there was a way to remove the voices and SFX. Oh well.

Just need the music from the Alert phase themes and the altered versions of Encounter and Tanker Incident.

Just need the music from the Alert phase themes.

The alert phase themes are prominently featured on the official OST. They are part of the last ten tracks on disc 2.

As for Cloudstrife1989's project, I'm looking forward to it. Perhaps you can grab whatever I couldn't from my own recordings (Thread 56596) - and maybe even find a way to get those cutscene pieces without the SFX and voices.

Man, you guys and ladies have tons of questions when i've already answered some for ya!

To Lost Sabre: Not quite sure how much it loops, but i've remixed the offical ones with the newly recorded evasion ones (except for Act 5 which doesn't have any). In other words, they crossfade with each other just like they do on the official soundtrack.

To Agent: The Alert and Caution phases are located on the official CD. It's the last 10 tracks of the CD.

To Angela: I did try that method, but the sound got too thiny and it would take too much effort and time to do that, so i decided not to. Besides the SFX sound really cool in many places.

I've made a FAQ to answer all those questions:

1. ALMOST everything that's to do with music has been ripped EXCEPT Sunny's humming songs and the iPod tunes which i'm releasing at another point as a seperate album. It's a complete soundtrack, so it's huge.

2. So far my Album in Apple Lossless format takes 1.26 GB's, so obviously it'll be splitted in at least 3 parts, the same with FLAC. MP3's should be able to
However i need to find the correct fileupload service. Don't worry, it won't be MegaShit or Rapidcrap.

3. Album contains almost 110 tracks (so far)

4. I've remixed a lot of tracks to make them as close as possible likes the ones featured in the game, like the Beauty and the beast one that you can hear already.

5. SFX are still present.

6. The boss bgms have been mixed together just like the Alert, evasion and cautions tracks. The Screaming Mantis track (which is almost 8 minuttes long is comprised of chapters (First part: Before using the syringe, under control by = Mantis' hymn, caution. Second part: After using the syringe = Alert, action. Third part: Obtaining the dolls = Evasion, varied version. Last part: Attacking Mantis' with doll: Different version of Mantis' hymn.

I believe this is only concerning a fan-made soundtrack created by cloudstrife, which I am eagerly looking forward to. Anyway, although being new here, I wanted to point out that some people in this as well as other videogame soundtrack-forums obviously do not know (or do not care) that there are original soundtracks for many games available through official channels. My point is that these kinds of forums are not supposed to damage regular soundtrack sales concerning the offiicial albums in physical CD form by functioning as a take-what-you-want-for-free mart, but to actually offer fan-recorded material not covered in the original merchandise for everybody's listening pleasure. While I know that the people considering this kind of piracy of intellectual property not harmful to the whole process of game-making will probably not give a s**t about my opinion, I just wanted to remind everybody that there is an official double disc OST available for MGS4 and that anyone who really cares about the material should easily be able to obtain it via internet shops. Nonetheless, this soundtrack does not cover everything and thus justifies the expanded score currently being compiled by cloudstrife as a supplement. Again, I can not wait to download it, burn it and put it right up there next to the original OST!

Hi Guys, sorry to say this, but i'm gonna have to delay the release till' further notice. I'm having some problems with my PC, which happened ever since i installed vista. I'm getting bluescreens after five minuttes of use. I'm typing this on another computer, but only have the one system to record on. I'll let you guys know when i've fixed the problem. Also, i've also been pretty busy with my job, so things won't go any smoother at the moment.

To syfer: I don't know for sure if there's an extended soundtrack coming out, but i'm pretty sure they'll release one. The reason why i believe is, if you look at the iPod and check out the song Confrontation, it's located in an album called MGS4: The Other Side. Also, THIS IS A RIPPED SOUNDTRACK, NOT AN EXTENDED OFFICIAL ONE. I'm not gonna upload any official releases, someone else can easily do that.

To outerheaven23: I did include tracks from the official, since i wanted to remix them into new tracks, so i could avoid as much as SFX as possible. It comes from my own soundtrack that i bought myself. I would also encourage people to buy stuff they really like to show they support it. Just don't buy stuff from EA, they suck with their beta releases of games! Just pirate those instead :-)

@Cloudstrife: Since you seem like someone who knows what he is doing, I have a question for you: Some time ago I managed to extract the demo sequence soundfiles from the original PSX-MGS discs. Since these soundfiles are in a compressed format, I needed to perform a resample operation to create a proper CD soundtrack (clocking in at about 2h20min). However, while trying this conversion process with many different programs, I encountered the problem that most programs that convert 37kHz to 44.1kHz create a terrible hiss especially in higher frequencies (Meryl's voice!). I finally wound up using "4Music WAV bitrate changer" which produced nice results. Anyway, a slight hiss is still there and the native files still sound slightly better. Thus, I wanted to ask you ore anyone reading this if he or she knows about another (freeware) program that would create a perfect CD format copy of the native PSX sound files. For your information, the program I used to extract the material form MGS was a neat program I found years ago and which can easily extract and list all soundfiles (even codec!) from the original MGS1. It is called PSound and even has an extra built in option to extract MGS1! If anyone has an idea, I would be able to create the best approximation of a demo sequence drama soundtrack there is (at least about which I am aware about...).
Anyway, how is your MGS4 score coming about, I am itching to get it... I hope your system is operational again after your vista-crisis...
