Are you sure? I tried both the YDKJ Disc, and the Question Pack expansion disc, and got nothing. Of course, the first thing the expansion disc tells me is that its incompatable with my version of Windows. ... frakking Vista. Same reason I can't play Descent or Descent II anymore T~T


The Installer disc for You Don't Know Jack: The Ride was also labeled "You Don't Hear Jack" and works as a CD. Has a compilation of about 40 commercials from the entire franchise, but since there are about 20-30 on each game, there are a lot of great ones missing (especially a few of my favorites from the first game).

I would upload it... if I knew how. And I don't have accounts with any of these file share sites (and can't afford to pay monthly fees)
I'm going to get the psx version of You Don't Know Jack first and see what i find on that because i prefer psx to pc ripping, i've downloaded a few of the other games too, including You Don't Know Jack 4: The Ride.


Now to update on what's done and what needs to be done, for my own benefit, mostly. Need to keep track of what i'm doing XD

I was sooo disappointed that the voice actor wasn't the same in the psx as in the PC. Hopefully some of the commercials are intact, though, as those didn't use the host's voice.

The psx version has two discs, so hopefully everything else from the pc version is still there.

I've had a look at You Don't Know Jack 4: The Ride and couldn't get any music from it at all. The psx version of You Don't Know Jack has only like 5 or 6 second clips, some with audio on them.

Sorry if this is off-topic, but how do you go about tagging your NES tracks, Jessie? I ask because I use .nsf files that are already made by someone else, and they never seem to have track titles. If you are making your own .nsf files I suppose your process is completely different, but I was wondering if you use some great tool, or if your process is also painful.

Most of my nes rips have no track names, there are some nsfe files that have tagged tracks.

For the normal nsf files i output them as wav, find the loop point and add fadeout.

You need to install the games before trying to get the music from them, sometimes the music is already accessible in the folders where it installed to, other times you have to look for it. I'm not much of a pc game ripper, i've only ripped two, the others were rips i had from other people uploading them at one time.

For True Crime i used this (http://www.downloadatoz.com/dvd-video_directory/rad-video-tools/), and for Hellboy i used a program called dragon unpacker, that searches through pak archives as well as a few others, for a few different media formats.

There's another tool called Nova Software Extractor, that's a pretty good one too.

You just have to install the game and look through the folders it installed to. You might get lucky and there's a folder named music or snd, other times you have to look for it and scan them. It really depends on the game and company that makes the game.

I know it's all very confusing, but i'm not really a pc game ripper and can't explain the process very well, sorry.

You explained it well enough for me thanks, yea some do have music in the folders, but a few games i have must have them in paks. I'll give some of that software a try and see how i go, but i found some music i wanted from other parts of this forum so i may not have too! :)

Oh, okay, thanks. :) I'm using Easy CD-DA Extractor to rip the redbook audio, and there doesn't seem to be an option for 'v0 vbr'. I'm ripping everything at the hightest setting, which just says 320 kb/s. So far I have 3 Mega CD games, 6 CD32 games, 9 PlayStation games, and 14 (and counting) Saturn games. :)

I've never ripped a 3DO game before, so i had to try and learn about it. I couldn't find anything when i looked at the game, only sfx. So i probably don't know what i'm doing.

Hey Jessie, much obliged for the SBBH rip. No wonder it took it's bit share of time, having pretty much the whole Sengoku Basara 2 OST, along with the newtracks from the Heroes expansion.

Being the one who asked you to slay this gargantuous beast, I'll try giving some help naming the tracks. Most were just "The theme of..." or "The battle of..." in the original OST releases.

Just one last thing because I just always have to sound like a total bastard and complain about something - the gamerip is missing a track I was really in the hopes of getting. It's "Nemure hi no Hana"/"Sleeping Scarlet Flower", a vocal track that plays on the last chapter of Oichi, the raven-haired woman in pink/black armor with the naginata (in cause you don't know).
I read the game has a juke-box option but it doesn't have the vocal tracks.
Please bear in mind I'm raising this point in absolute ignorance of the ripping method you used...

Upon further inspection i've missed quite a few tracks, my bad.

I believe the rip had 2 vocal tracks, with female vocals if I'm not mistaken. Two versions of the same song, if I'm not mistaken.

Regarding the actual game, I know there's a vocal theme for the intro and read on the gamefaqs' board of the game, that Oichi had a vocal theme as well for her final story chapter.

It has most of the OST, besides the 3 versions of Sleeping Scarlet Flower.

That mp3 is from the PS2 Heroes expansion. It's the theme for Oichi's very own credits roll, sung by her voice actress, Mamiko Noto.
I read BH has a different version of that song, hence the persistence, but it's no matter of great consequence of course.

How do you, Pietastesgood, other born English-speakers understand people like Victor007 (or Auchimura)? I think he writes just some scattershot (even if a reference point we use is American English that simplifies classic British one) sets of words. Or do you guess the meaning by analyzing single words? I don`t want to advance Victor or Auchimura (that`s why I put it in spoiler) because I understand my speaking isn`t perfect too but the purpose of this whole post is: I`ve been teaching a 4-grader English for approximately 1,5 month cause he seems to know what they study right now but not to understand and remember the basis. Toshinden (Wii)!? What is? Other than hearing War Budokai, is it a non-canon game or prequel or something? Information seems rather scarce, but I find no proof of any of the original fighters.

Tohshinden wii is a takara-tomy game, you find some character with new look and name (vermillion and other...). Nice game for ps1 older player.

updates. If you did them yourself then how hard were these rips? Did you need to do anything (manual hexing for example) except of work with standard Xbox tools like RWS or XWB extractors? I planned ripping two Xbox games but now scared by these ADPCMs which are much more difficult than PS2 ones :-\. Also how GameCube ripping looks like (because the second game is also on GC)?

Need for Speed Hot Pursuit 2 used asf sound files, i can't remember what the other two used, i didn't rip True Crime. All i know is that i didn't use a hex editor for any of my rips.

What's the name of the GC game? i'll have a look at that one as i can't really remember what audio files they use, it's GCM or DSP, you need the in_cube plugin for winamp to play/convert these files.

And how did you convert them (if they were interleaved)? I have a few but either ASF converters (by Digitbyte and Boilsoft) or Sound exchange (it was said to handle ASFs) don`t work with mine. Of course I can open them as interleaved ADPCMs and search some unusual interleaving for a long ime but I don`t have enough wish yet.

So you don`t want to try that Xbox game? Not blaming you but just to know for sure. I`ve been trying to download it myself for approximately 3 weeks but haven`t downloaded a bit yet. So I found another link but it requires some specific Usenet program. Maybe I try this link sometime... BUT I don`t want this rip much and won`t be offended if you decline it. Don`t want to steal your time without a serious purpose, you always get a lot of requests. Well, you usually do them pretty quick even if these are line-ins or rips on your initiative but you need to have your spare time.

XBOX interleaving is much more complex then ps2 interleaving, xbox adpcm is similar to voxware, which is hard to find the decode flag in hex, i was able to rip some games with this crap codec, if i find an xbox interleaved adpcm then i can forget of all tools that can decode adpcm, therefore ps2 adpcm is much more easier to find in hex the interleave, therefor i use ps2 versions most of the time.

Most of jessies games are either decoded by simple tools, and he has guest the interleave most of the time, xbox simple games, dont think he can decode headerless xbox adpcm, that is time extensive and needs skill.

I was talking about interleaved ASFs from a PS2 game. I`ve never had any Xbox game so I haven`t encountered any Xbox ADPCM yet.
