So .. in your entire video gaming career ... what's the biggest game title or most popular game ever made .. that you didnt so much as even play the demo of ??

For me that would be Final Fantasy 7, with Halo (all 3 of them) close behind.
Have never tried either of them or even know much about them.

How about you ?
:-D

I dont think FF6 was all that popular .. certainly not as big as #3 and #7 were. Those were monstrous =)

Now, if anyone can honestly say they have never played the original Super Mario Bros ... that would take the cake by far !!

Well, from what I've heard, 3 and 6 were the same, and 6 is (by opinion of most of my friends who play games) the best one. I personally can't say - I've only played VII and X.

Oh... Duck Hunt FTW!

I've also missed an insane amount of PC strategy games, haven't played any until now, but I'm trying to get interested in the genre, I'm playing Dungeon Keeper II.

Halo definitely. At least in GTA I could watch my friend kill hookers and have sex in the taxi, at least that was somewhat mildly entertaining.

Congratulations, you must be the only person I know with the brain power to withstand the damning effects of HALO. And are we claiming GTA is worse merely because of sexual themes and violence? Because I wasn't referring to videogames influencing people, I meant playing 2 1/2 hours of HALO transforms seemingly normal individuals into mindless, slobby, blathering retards.

I was talking to some guys today and they all seemed to dislike Halo for different reasons, however as much as I'd agree with them I can't deny the game's popularity, and I'd like you to explain why playing 2 1/2 hours of Halo would turn anyone into those things you say, I'm guessing it's not because of the violence, right?

Only played the first Halo for like an hour and then got bored/pissed off with it and completely abandoned it. Needless to say I never played Halo 2 or 3 and have no interest in doing so. I've never played a single MMORPG in my life (apart from Runescape, very briefly), and I haven't played any FF past X. I only played the original Devil May Cry and didn't care for it, so I haven't played any of the other ones either. The only Resident Evil I've beaten is RE4 though I played REmake on GCN and RE2 for PS2. Oh yeah, and I think I'm the only person under the age of 50 living in North America who hasn't played a Guitar Hero game either.

I've never played the original Super Mario Bros and when you say it like that I'm gonna try to not ever play it now lol.

At that time I was still being bored with the commodore 64 until my oldest brother forked out allot of money for a Master System II with Alex Kidd built in. That's the game that got me into gaming.

I see allot of people say Halo and that makes me laugh because if your anything like the people I know who play it then you wouldn't be posting on this forum. As for me I was really addicted to Halo for a while but offline play with 3 mates only goes so far then by the time Halo 2 came out online play had already lost it's wow factor so it wasn't played much and Halo 3 was put down almost immediately after the campaign was finished.

As for me, it's gotta be the Halo and Metroid Prime series. I've played a little of both, but I never was a fan of FPS-es. I'm gonna force myself to play through both trilogies at some point though, just to say I did it... and who knows, maybe I'll like 'em.

Agree, definitely the 3D ones are pretty bad, scoring lower than 8 from different websites such as GameSpot, I believe none of the many 3D versions on all different consoles have scored higher than 7.5. The 2D ones from the old days are better but "popular"... I dunno.

Blame Sega and only Sega, only way to make a worth 3D Sonic game is teaming up with Nintendo or any other company that knows how to make great platform games.

Unless, perhaps, Sega could go back to its roots and re-invent the franchise with a game similar to Sonic Rush. The original Sonic's classic gameplay with updated 3D graphics would probably be fun if they managed to integrate new types of gameplay. Imagine Sonic on Wii - without the horrible soundtrack and 3D platforming - but with graphics on par with Sonic the Hedgehog (X360), original side-scrolling gameplay, and two-button control via the Wii Remote.

Lets see.... (BTW first post despite the fact I joined 2 years ago and lurk semi-frequently. YAY! Here is to hoping this is a good first post!)

Any Final Fantasy Game: I'm sorry, but all the fanboys/girls annoy me to the point where I can't even stand watching someone play these games. ESPICIALLY 7. People to this day still never shut up about it. Though I will admit as time goes on, my hatred lessens and maybe one day I will attempt to play one, but not just yet.

Super Smash Bros. (1 and Brawl): Why? Because once again, fanboys killed it for me. Everyone is like "OMGZ SMASH OMGZ" and it pisses me off so much. Plus its too cutsie. Honestly...I have played Melee...got to say its probably the most retarded "fighting" game I have ever played. I'll stick to tekken thanks.

Any N64, GB, GBA, DS, or GC Zelda: Wow...once again fanboys killed it. I swear Nintendo has some of the most annoying rabid fanboys in existence. Plus you cannot beat "Link to the Past". I am sorry but that is a proven fact that "Link to the Past" is automatically better than every other Zelda game.

Any new-gen Super Mario or Mario related game: NINTENDO- "LETS MILK THIS FRANCHISE!"

Sonic The Hedgehog (next gen): This looks atrocious. I used to love sonic on the genesis...now its pathetic. The only good 3D sonic was Sonic Adventure 1. Thanks Yuji Naka, but I'll stick to Sonic 2 and its many amazing hacks. Gotta love rom hacks.

That about covers my hates and never played games. I wanted to add Halo to the list but sadly I have played it and I own all three...But I hate them all. Add that up. lol

I've played or at least sampled most of the 'big' games of current gen, and older generations too. Despite loving the Final Fantasy series a fair bit (Even 7. I mean, it was a good game, but the fandom just won't shut up about it which has turned me off touching my copy ever again) I just can't stand XII. I love the music, the characters, and the summons. Oh good lords the deathblows they have are eyecandy, but I can not stand the freaking battle system. ATB is fine, this ATB on MMORPG scale and it sucks because of that, especially since I loathe MMORPG/General Online RPG games (Why did you do that to Phantasy Star, SEGA. WHY!?).

Never liked the GTA series past the very first game. Gears of War, Assassin's Creed, alot of new stuff that is out I haven't touched. It doesn't help that a lot of game companies like to rape Australia up the butt with something sharp and pointy when it comes to release dates, so all the hype just... goes, ya know? You get excited for a game that looks good, and you just don't want to play it by the time it comes out because you know everything about the damn thing from all your mates overseas :P

Play/ed a lot of the Drummania and Guitar Freaks games, and because of that I have barely touched Guitar Hero despite having both the second and the third game and a guitar gifted to me from a friend. I will refuse to touch Rock Band what so ever (if it ever hits Australia, lol). Konami did it first, and still do it, so much better. Dance Dance Revolution kicks the shit out of ITG, too. It's meant to be a fun game, not an impossible game, which is what has turned me off the GH/RB scene.

Hmm. Played and own every BioHazard/Resident Evil under the sun (then again, I have the biggest damn collection for that series on this coast of Australia). :P I can't do 'rip offs' of them well. The only Silent Hill I ever played was the first, never touched the rest of the series. Music is good though.

I've never played Mario 64. I saw the camera angles and refused to touch it. But I was into the scene very very late with the N64. Never touched a Street Fighter game past the original II, and I've never played the US/Eu version of Super Mario Bros. 2. Refuse to play WoW, again the whole MMO thing.

I've never genuinely played Tetris? I've watched, never played. Columns is more my thing.

Asides from a few things like that, I am pretty partial to most/all games and will give them a try at least once.

Also, I've never played WoW, and I don't want to.

I have yet to play W.O.W, and I have no interest in playing it. Only interest in Blizzard stock of games is Starcraft, thank you.

A list of other games:
Halo 3.
Killzone.
EVE-Online (I have, however, read thoroughly about it).
Diablo 1&2
Warcraft
Team Fortress 2
Portal.
Half-Life 2
FF7 (The graphics just turns me off to playing it. As well as the tonky controls.)
Super Smash Bros Brawl

That's all I can think of right now. Probably am missing a whole gamit of games.

For me that would be Final Fantasy 7, with Halo (all 3 of them) close behind.

and actually, I've never played ANY games on an Xbox and/or Xbox360.

I don't intentionally boycott it, but perhaps all the incredibly crappy things I hear about those two consoles (ie: paying monthly to play anything online including DEMOS) keeps me happily away from them.

That said, I love gaming on the Wii, PS2, PS3, PC, "vintage consoles" like Sega Saturn, and etc.

Ha ha, gosh, I know I've missed out on some big stuff, but right now the ones that come to mind are:

"World of Warcraft" - I'm not REALLY into MMORPGs, but I've been playing some like "Ragnarok Online" and had played the beta for "World of Kung Fu" for a while; I'm interested in them, and am REALLY looking forward to "Blade and Soul," but I just do not have the time to devote to the massive group/team dynamic in these games. I like to play at my own pace.

"Metal Gear Solid 4" - aside from not having a PlayStation 3, I also have not beaten "Snake Eater" yet, so I need to do that FIRST, mm!

"Halo 3" - ha ha ha! Gosh... I used to have an account on another site, Red vs. Blue, and when "Halo 3" was released, holy MOLEY! That's all you ever heard about. And I, of course, had no 360 at the time (I do NOW though, along with Collector's Edition of "Halo 3") so I couldn't engage in those games/talks. Too bad! I'm looking forward to playing it, though, mm!

"Rock Band" - I have and enjoy "Guitar Hero II," but I don't know if I will ever really play "Rock Band." I guess on a mild fancy, yes, but not devotedly, mm.

ALso, I'd like to bring in an arguement. The fact that a game is overhyped or populair doesn't mean it's going to be bad. Neither is it a quality check for lesser known games.

Just because a game has a smaller (usually more elitist) fanbase, doesn't mean the quality of the game becomes better. You just tend to pick up the game with lower expectations, because you don't know that much about it yet. Because the game was released without media atention. Basically it means, you are starting the game unbiased.

Populair games, specially those from bigger companies already bias you. The first part wasn't that good, should I get the sequel? A game because hyped by the media engine, you feel as if you already played the game. You've seen extensive footage, people's opinion in (p)reviews. You start the game biased, is it going to live up to your expectations?

The opposite is true aswell, if a game gets alot of negative hype, it doesn't mean it sucks. For me, recently, Too Human comes to mind. The game got a LOT of negative criticism, but in my opinion it's nothing short of a gem.

But then again I also played Bulletwitch. It's a nice game and all, but the small community that "loves" this game, acts like it was a gift of god itself. And this is what I mean by the elitist nature of that community.

Basically, enjoy a game, don't care too much what others say.

But to counterpoint that, someone who knows what to look for in the opinions of others can pick useful information from both sides to get an accurate picture of whether they'll like it or not. I pay a lot of attention to what other people say about games and movies, but oftentimes it's the negative reviews that turn out to be what actually sells me.

Both sound pretty good to me...

Personally, I am a bit biased towards popular titles because I feel many, reviewers included, are "wowed" by imo simple shit. But I'm sure everyone's had that hyped IP where people can only talk about (for example) the amazing graphics while you're busy wondering why everyone's ready to buy when no one knows how it actually plays.

And on topic: never played Starcraft.

Some people do like obscure games for a reason, not just because of over or underhype. Personally I'm one of those that loves games people mostly didn't care because of their uniqueness, such as EarthBound or Vagrant Story. It's not like I liked them because most people didn't like (or didn't even care about), but simply 'cause I saw something unique about those titles that put them above many others in my opinion, regardless of popularity or whatever.

But I understand what you're saying: some people are just too much into the "ZOMG HYEP" thing. I usually call those people "forum gamers" - not literally, but in a sense they seem to be more into gaming inside discussion boards than outside 'em.
I don't usually take them seriously... something not that hard, since they hardly have anything worth caring about in the first place.

I meant playing 2 1/2 hours of HALO transforms seemingly normal individuals into mindless, slobby, blathering retards.
Well, not all of us. I've played over 24, and I'm still normal...hopefully.

I just left myself right open. Let's just drop it before we start a flame war.

Final Fantasy VII. I blame the GameFAQs best game ever contests.

EDIT: Instinct's pretty good. It'd serve me well months earlier. >_<

Never played any of the Kingdom Hearts series... Don't want to either. My cousin offered to let me play his copy. I snapped the disc in front of him.

Yeah, it was pretty harsh of his cousin to offer up that particular game. Kudos to XD for the measured and appropriate response.

I've never played a console GTA, probably due to learning about the game because of the controversy around 'hot coffee'.

After an hour of playing, you'll realize there's really nothing special about the game.

Probably the Half Life games. I tend to check out a lot of stuff even if I never buy it or get into it myself, so there aren't too many big franchises I've never tried.

HL2 is incredible but it probably won't hold up very well for you if you've played an FPS in the last couple years. =(

Until a few weeks ago, I had never played Ocarina of Time. Well, that's a half-truth. I'd played it once several years prior, but only until the beginning of Dodongo Cavern. I've stopped for the time being, on the Shadow Temple. I'm sick of those fucking spiders, that fucking Stalfos, and those fucking cliffs.

I've never played a game from the Metal Gear, Sonic or Castlevania series, either. The only numbered Final Fantasy games I've played are the third and fourth one.

That much is at least true. Left 4 Dead is a thirty dollar game at heart. It's almost always on sale on Steam, though, if that means anything.

My lappy can barely run 'GalCiv2'.
So, yeah...not until my new PC.

If I get a PS3 or 360 I'll think about it if I see it used.

Lots of them. Like Halo, Counter Strike (I don't play fps), WOW, Lineage (I don't play MMORPG as well), Super Mario Sunshine (I never owned a Gamecube and apart from that I don't like the new concert of this Mario title), Star Fox games at SNES and Gamecube (I have only played Lylat Wars on N64 which is still superb even playing it now) and so on.
