Battle 15:

Depeche Mode: Depeche Mode are an English synthpop band, founded in 1980, originally from the town of Basildon. They have been one of the longest-lived and most successful bands to have emerged during the new wave/new romantic era. As of 2005, it is estimated that Depeche Mode has sold over 70 million albums worldwide. They have been highly influential in the electronic music scene, in part due to their innovative work, recording techniques and use of sampling. The three current members of Depeche Mode are: Martin L. Gore (songwriting, vocals, guitars, keyboards), Dave Gahan (lead vocals, recent songwriting, occasional instruments), Andrew Fletcher (keyboards).

vs

Azure Ray: Azure Ray is an American indie duo, consisting of musicians Maria Taylor and Orenda Fink. Azure Ray started in Athens, Georgia, but has since relocated to Omaha, Nebraska and joined the music scene there. Their sound is sparse and understated, with intimate lyrics, elements of alt-country and folk Americana, and occasional forays into minimalist electronica territory. Both Maria and Orenda have recently released solo albums on Saddle Creek Records.

Not mad about either, but Depeche Mode I guess.

Landslide win for Depeche Mode. Onwards...

Battle 16:

Primus: Primus is a rock band formed in California in the mid-1980s by two ex-members of thrash band Blind Illusion by Les Claypool and Larry LaLonde. Larry's band before Blind Illusion was death metal pioneers Posessed. Les (vocals and bass guitar) has been the only constant member. They have had two guitar players (although Larry has held onto the role for the past 16 years) and many different drummers (although Tim Alexander and Bryan "Brain" Mantia were the only ones who recorded with the band, and Jay Lane, the only other one who had creative impact) in the past. Their music has proven difficult to define; while usually considered by critics to be funk-metal or alternative metal, Primus has been called everything from "thrash funk" (as the band blends funk-style bass technique with thrash influenced guitar riffs and songs tempos), to "alternative rock" to "the Freak Brothers set to music." Les Claypool himself once described their music as "psychedelic polka."

vs

British Sea Power: British Sea Power are a four-man band based in Brighton, England. Yan and Hamilton are brothers, brought up in Kendal, Cumbria, and went to the same school as drummer Woody. When Yan moved to Reading, he met guitarist Noble, who hailed from Leeds. The entire merry group gathered in Reading and converged upon Brighton. Eamon recently left the band to create his own band Brakes. They are an indie rock band with a sweeping, often epic, guitar pop sound, often compared to that of Echo & The Bunnymen and The Smiths. They have released two albums, The Decline Of British Sea Power (2003) and Open Season (2005), which focus on 2 themes, nature and memory.

Primus for me. One of my favourite bands, although I have to acknowledge BSP are great too.

Be Your Own Pet: be your own PET (often abbreviated to BYOP) are a four-piece post-punk group from Nashville, Tennessee, USA.

The teenage band consists of lead singer Jemina Pearl Abegg, the daughter of Christian artist/photographer Jimmy Abegg; guitarist Jonas Stein, the son of manager Burt Stein; Jamin Orrall (drums), the son of producer/songwriter Robert Ellis Orrall; and Nathan Vasquez (bass), the son of acclaimed latin jazz guitarist Rafael Vasquez. Vasquez replaced Jake Orrall, a founding member of BYOP, who left the band to spend a year in Iceland.

vs

Rammstein: Rammstein is a German band formed in 1994. Their musical style, which they have dubbed "Tanz-Metall" ("Dance Metal"), incorporates elements of metal, industrial and electronic music. Rammstein took their name indirectly from the western German town of Ramstein, site of an airshow disaster in 1988. The band's signature song, the eponymous "Rammstein", is a commemoration of the tragedy that took place at the Ramstein Air Base. The extra "m" in the band's name means that it translates literally as "ramming stone" or "battering ram", reinforcing the style of music the band plays. Even though the lyrics are in German, the band has enjoyed success outside of Germany, both in Europe, North America as well as Australia and New Zealand. With the album Rammstein - Reise, Reise (2004), they became the most successful German-language band of all time internationally.

I'm pretty much against all the elitist bullshit spewed by people anyway, even if it's in terms of something like Limp Bizkit. I really don't care what it's about, even if I don't like it myself, I'm just sick and tired of hearing "that sucks, that's overrated!" No music is good or bad, it's just relative to whether or not the person listening likes it. When you DON'T like it, well, so what? Why is there some need to act like an ass and put it down, belittle the people who created it, and insult the fans of it? Yeah I really don't like the "indie" type hipster scene. It was something I will admit that I bought into for awhile but then I got undumb and realized that most of the people that hang in that crowd or whatever are kind of pretentious assholes. There are of course cool people to be found, very cool people even, but the same can be said about any group of people really. There are cool people and assholes every where, its how the world works and so on. So I now try not to get on people about their music. At the Drive-In: At the Drive-In (ATDI) was a post-hardcore band from El Paso, Texas from 1993 until 2001 and was one of the most influential bands of the genre. The band takes their name from a lyric in the song "Talk Dirty To Me" by Poison. Influenced primarily by the likes of Fugazi and Drive Like Jehu as well as their native Texas hardcore scene, At The Drive-in crafted epic, musically complex songs, each one laced with cryptic and strongly metaphorical lyrics. Founded in 1993 by guitarist Jim Ward and vocalist Cedric Bixler Zavala, who were at the time members of a punk band called the El Paso Pussycats where Jim sang and Cedric played drums but left to pursue music more seriously with some friends. ATD-I's first studio recording was Hell Paso (Western Breed), an EP issued in 1994.

vs

Dredg: Dredg is a progressive alternative band from Los Gatos, California. Their first studio album, Leitmotif, was released by the Universal music label on September 11, 2001. Prior to that, it had been self-released by the members of the band. After the album hit music stores, dredg acquired an almost immediate cult following thanks to Leitmotif's unique sound and concept. There has also been a movie planned for release as a music video for the entire album, though the project has been stalled. El Cielo, dredg's proper Interscope debut, arrived in autumn 2002, and Deftones producer Terry Date was at the helm for their 2005 effort Catch Without Arms. A video for the single "Bug Eyes" was released. In the spring of 2006, dredg played on the Taste of Chaos tour. In November of 2006, dredg released "Live at the Fillmore.

Comfortable enough win for Kanno there.

Blue October: Blue October is a Texas band headquartered in San Marcos, Texas, but is originally from Houston. Their songs are deep reaching and deal with subject matters such as love, drug addiction, self hate, mental health, and current affairs. Their sound mixes Dave Matthews style pop and hard rock. In 2003 Blue October released History for Sale on Dallas-based Brando Records, and was later resigned by Universal Records again.

vs

Nat King Cole: Nat "King" Cole (March 17, 1919 – February 15, 1965) was a popular American singer and jazz musician. As a piano player, he formed a jazz trio in 1938 that played Los Angeles nightclubs, one of the first jazz trios featuring guitar and piano. Prior to this he had played music since he was a child and had worked with bands since he was 16. He was raised in Chicago and exposed to the abundant jazz scene there. He was heavily influenced by pianist Earl "Fatha" Hines. Later he became more popularly known as a singer and crooner and his work became more orchestrated.

vs

The Velvet Underground: The Velvet Underground was an American rock band first active from 1965 to 1973. Its best-known alumni are Lou Reed and John Cale. Some see Velvet Underground as being a bridge between the pacifist themes of the late 60s and the sheer chaos and indifference of the mid-70s punk rock movement. The Velvet Underground was one of the first rock music groups to experiment heavily with the form by incorporating avant-garde influences. The group's often raw, sometimes difficult sound would influence many later punk, noise rock, and alternative music performers, and singer Lou Reed's lyrics brought new levels of social realism and sleaze to rock. Critics Scott Isler and Ira Robbins argue that "The Velvet Underground marked a turning point in rock history. After the release of The Velvet Underground and Nico, knowing the power of which it was capable, the music could never be as innocent, as unselfconscious as before."

Nat King Cole is great and all, buts its an easy vote for The Velvet Underground, one for the sheer influence they've had on the music industry and two cos Cale and Reed are 1337.

I think I am going to vote for Nat King Cole because he is probably going to get exploded and all, and I don't think he should.

In light of recent events I am going to change my vote to The Velvet Underground because I really do think they are the more important musical entity I just thought Nat was going to get blown away and I didn't want that to happen.
