Agreed on both accounts. I was disappointed Desplat wasn't returning to the sequel, but I also love McCreary's past work. This should be a very interesting listen. I also can't wait for the film itself, as the promotional material has been spectacular.

Nop, is by McCreary.

The only material taken from the japanese movies are the Godzilla's theme and Mothra, but this one is from Yuji Hoseki from the 1961 Mothra

I've never seen any Godzilla film, but I quite like 50s-60s Japanese films and we can clearly hear that the themes (especially Mothra's Song) are reeeeeeeally the kind of music from these years' japanese films. I'm quite well used to Korusawa's ones and it makes me remind a bit of Rashomon...
