ngel Arteaga de la Gua (1928-1984) may be best known outside his native Spain for his horror film scores. He was also, however, a concert-hall composer who, although close in age to the so-named Generation of 1951 (Luis de Pablo, Carmelo Bernaola, Antn Garca Abril, etc.) is rarely mentioned in the same breath with that group of people, as if he represented a different path.
This excellent 2006 issue, with brilliant playing from the City of Granada Orchestra, marks Arteagas first appearance on CD (as some of his work had been recorded on LP) and these works in particular have never before been recorded in any medium.
