LLL Records are known for (usually) releasing pretty much every bit of music unlike some other officially released OST's which leave a lot of material off. LLL has been doing Batman: TAS, Arrow, Flash, etc. Look at the 1989 Batman, Batman Returns, and Batman Forever OST's as some prime examples. That's when I noticed the difference between LLL and other record labels. Those OST's were released before, but left material out, material LLL's release included.

1. What do you want LLL to release?
2. What LLL releases do you believe will have the usual great sales result?

This is really just a wishlist thread. We don't really know what LLL's future releases will be unless they gave some information out which I'm unaware of.

As unlikely as it is, I want to see the Raimi Spider-Man Trilogy scores, but considering the issues with 2 and 3, I think only 1 can be viable for release.

@HunterTech:

I don't know that their releases are based on how good a movie is. Arrow Season 3 (yes I know it's a tv show while Raimi's Spiderman was a film franchise) wasn't as good as the first 2 seasons. Yet their release of the Season 3 score is the most complete release out there. Regarding movies that didn't get good reviews that saw a LLL release....Dennis the Menace, The Phantom, not sure how well Galaxy Quest did but that also got an LLL release. Who knows? LLL might release all 3 film scores as one limited edition set like they did for The Naked Gun trilogy. Speaking of Spiderman, the 90's Spiderman and X-Men would be a nice release as would Justice League/JLU. Also really hope to see another Batman TAS release soon. Wonder why they stopped on that. A T2 would be nice although aside from the Galleria/Chase scene, I'm honestly not sure exactly what's missing. The previous release as far as I know has everything. If LLL's expanded score was based on the Director's Cut of T2 which is a bit longer than the original version, then that'd be a different story as the previous release of the score was based on the original theatrical version of the film.

I wasn't referring to the quality of the films, since I did say that I wanted the whole trilogy to be released. I'm more referring to the production and rights issues regarding the scores of 2 and 3, which makes it difficult for a full release of the former and any release of the latter. Only the 1st will have the most likely hood of being released.

@HunterTech:

Ah I see. You may have a point there then. The word, issues threw me off. Thought by that word, you meant problems with the reviews of those movies. Spiderman 2 did get good reviews as did the first, but Spiderman 3 didn't. Hopefully it'll be worked out. If they do release any Spiderman score, I can see it around the time the upcoming PS4 (exclusive) game or upcoming movie is released to coincide with the game or film's release. A lot of times, it plays out that way. Anniversaries also often see some kind of release. So we'll see.

I second two scores proposed here:
-- HIGHLANDER
-- SPIDER-MAN (by Elfman)
and more:
-- Dracula (John Williams)
-- The Witches of Eastwick (JOhn Williams)
-- Bram Stoker's Dracula (Wojciech Killar)
and I would go on and on
-- The Odd Couple (Neal Hefti) would be nice, and funny.

1987 TMNT! Supposedly there was an OST, not out of print. LLL can make a great, complete one if they work on one, provided they're allowed to. Power Rangers. The songs Ron sings when they're fighting bad guys is yet to be officially released without SFX (The Rock Adventure album did have some of these songs, but they had SFX on them.) Ron released "Re-Dux" versions of those songs in an album a year or two ago. Would love LLL to release them.

@ManRay:
Like X-Men TAS, Spiderman TAS, my thoughts as to why it never got an OST was because aside from the opening title and closing credits songs, the music in the episodes were seemingly ust few second tunes that repeated itself as opposed to actual music such as scores heard in films or today's tv shows. Still, would be nice if Spiderman and X-Men TAS has released OST's. One of my favorites from X-Men is the Sentinel music, heard throughout the two part Night of Sentinels eps and in length in the Courage episode where they appear at the mansion to capture Xavier, who the returning Morph was unable to save out of fear.

Um, @dawnofthedead, you do realize your way of replying to other users isn't effective, right? You have to quote the person you're responding to. With that, people only reading your response will understand what you're reacting to, as opposed to only having the vaguest idea. It's fine if you want to roll that way, but I'm just saying there is a better way of doing it, especially if you're going to stick around in the general discussions, as I see you're doing.

Back to the topic, I would like for them to release a collection of all the vocal tracks used in Power Rangers. As much as those previous CD releases in the series helped, it really wasn't enough. To have various edits, alternates, and versions of the vocal music in a grand CD collection would be a plus in my book. For now, I only have a website to rely on varying quality downloadables of such tracks.

Re-release Star Trek (2009). get the licenses away from Varese who didn't include the vocals and turned everything into suites.

Also, get them to re-release Star Wars: Episode 1: The Phantom Menace: Ultimate Edition.
Prevent it from being a gigantic suite chopped up into incoherent tracks.
It was a really bad format to present the music, I blame that on extremely poor marketing research. Leave to George Lucas to screw up the entire franchise and image of Star Wars. :notgood:

Also, I'd like to see Basil Poledouris' "Les Miserables" get a full release. Officially. Also, not suites.

Marco Beltrami and Marylin Manson collaberation for the first Resident Evil film.
An official release in Redbook standards. Not some bootleg from unknown sources and possible re-multi-transcoding of variable qualities.

Another one from unknown origins of bootlegs and watered down 64kbps sources: Equilibrium, Klaus Badelt.

The more time passses, the more everyone burns MP3 to CD and then rips back to MP3 and all you hear is water.

Let the studio get it out there. Let it go unsullied. Stop the waterboarding torture of so many bootlegs out there.

That's exactly the point I was making. Without the original post being quoted, whatever response written is going to confusing without context. I guess it's a carry over from his writings on other websites. Still...

I've been meaning to buy Redux, since the music sounds a whole lot better. I more care for a theme song collection, since a lot of them are unavailable for purchase now. An expanded rerelease of the Turbo soundtrack would also make me most happy, since I really like the music for that particular series. I guess it's all further rights issues that's preventing such a thing, since I know the theme song for Ninja Turtles: The Next Mutation had it's intro changed when it got digital distribution. Then there's also a good chunk of PR history being owned by Disney. But the themes have remained for those series, so...

@hack3rmanL

Hmmm....what's missing from the previous Batman Beyond OST? usually these OST's are missing material. But I'm unaware specifically as it relates to what is not on the Batman Beyond OST. They have a track (forgot the name of it) that combines a lot of sad music into one track (like Freeze's death in that episode he was in along with Blight's apparent death in the episode where his ship sinked.)

@Dave999:

I don't care of my posts are disregarded. I don't post so people will "regard" it. I post for the sake of posting as this is a forum where posts are made. Whoever wants to reply to it will like you and HunterTech have, quotes or no quotes. As I said, no harm done either way so far as I'm concerned, neither way is "right" or "wrong." As for Power Rangers, just FYI: I was the one who came up with the idea for LLL to post Power Rangers as I was the first to post a comment about it here. HunterTech just expanded on my idea and he did a good job on that with you having a good follow-up.

Back to topic: The Batman-Christopher Nolan Trilogy. Not sure what the previous TDK (2008) OST's missing. But the previous Batman Begins OST missed the great piece of music where Wayne's piano combination opened the door to an elevator shaft that he went down, opened the closet and the following shot was closing in on the Bat symbol on the chest area of the Batsuit. It's in the scene after Rachael stops by to give him his birthday present and wish him happy birthday. The Dark Knight Rises OST is missing the music heard in the Batman Returns scene where he avoids the police by creating a rampway to ride his Batpod on. Would also like LLL's TDKR release if they were ever release it to include the music in the third theatrical trailer. Not sure if either OST's missing anything else.

LLL's done video game music as they're set to release its work on Uncharted. There's a lot of great, unreleased material here. The Batman Arkham series has OST's, but are missing some music. The Suffering, the two Ultimate Alliance games in addition to other games with great music do not have OST's.

Speaking of video game music, it would be near to a dream if La-La Land Records would release the score to Call of Duty: Finest Hour, seeing as they released albums such as Secret Weapons Over Normandy and the Medal of Honor Soundtrack Collection.

Though, I guess there's not much a chance for that, is there. I assume it was possibly because of the lawsuit between Spark Unlimited and Activision that the score was not released in the first place.

In regards to Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy, they would really need to think of something special to attract fans. We have the 3 CD recording sessions for Begins (even if it's only really expanded, not complete) and DAK did the film mix for TDK, giving that score the best treatment it'll ever get. Rises hasn't had a significant leak yet (in regards to lossless), but something could come up eventually. Also, I'm pretty sure that trailer music never gets included in official score releases, unless it was actually made for the movie.

Speaking of Zimmer, Man of Steel getting a proper full release would be something. However, with a deluxe edition already released, it becomes more difficult for that to be reality. At least we have that complete set online.

dawnofthedead
06-22-2016, 03:36 AM
@HunterTech:

Regarding your latest comment, I say this:

Yes we do have recording sessions and film mixes thanks to some great effort from people to find/make and post all that. Until officially released OST's contain everything, what's posted here will definitely do.

Man of Steel....wasn't as good as Nolan's Bat-trilogy was. So I don't know how likely it is. I did enjoy the music from that film so I would like to see LLL release it the only way they will....complete. As great as what we have on the site is, I think quality wise, LLL's work would be better. I have a lot of LLL material. Prior to getting their Batman Forever OST, I got hold of the Batman Forever recording sessions which I was quite happy with. But LLL's quality blew that recording sessions quality away. Not saying it's always like that. But it's been like that and I'm speaking strictly for myself here.

As for trailer music, The Dark City trailer was on the OST despite it not being in the movie. So it wouldn't be the first time trailer music not heard in or made for the movie was released. And even if Dark City's OST didn't have the trailer music, what's the old saying? First time for everything. 15-20 years ago, who thought social media would exist? Now it's a common multiple times a day thing. Something has to start somewhere for it not to be unheard of any longer. For years people wanted Batman 1989 among other scores to get complete releases, for Batman: TAS music to get released. Thanks to LLL bc no one else has done them as far as I know, that become a reality.

Nolan's Bat-trilogy....I think LLL just releasing this will be enough to sell it. Sure there's people here who can get recording sessions, film mixes, etc. What about those who aren't on the site and there's a lot of them that want that music. If LLL released it, they'll buy it. And some people here, whether they have sessions or not will buy for the sake of supporting the great label that LLL is. That includes me.

They did S1 of The Flash though uncharacteristically of LLL in my experience, not every music from that season's on their released score. S2 just ended so hopefully soon. The Dark City trailer was on the OST

That's the worst example.

The trailer music was actually a custom job. No voice.
The soundtrack album has some douchebag saying "sleep. sleep now." Unless someone has interest in stealing the trailer version, ripping the audio from a DTS trailer is the only thing we'll have.
I posted a rip of the DTS (lossy DTS, not from DTS-HD Master Audio; source unknown) trailer audio. I still listen to that the most over the retail album version.

"The Bird and the Worm" single by The Used got a custom job for the Clash of the Titans trailer, too.
The EP they released also has some vocals/dialogue in the music when it's supposed to be instrumental.
It's more like a kareoke instrumental. Bum job.
There is one version out there of the instrumental that is not official, and certainly not a bootleg, but just a fan edit that loops 10 seconds of the song into 3 minutes. The official site did the same thing but theirs was intentionally understood as a loop since it faded out and then started again.
The fake fan edit is horrible. The kareoke instrumental is actually the best version.

"Cells" by The Servent also got a horrible karoeke single out for their instrumental version of the hit song used in the Sin City trailer.
Except this douchebag tries to vocalize as if he was a male Lisa Gerrard.

Custom remixing of trailer music is huge hit or miss. Mianly where "instrumental" is concerned.
I've heard a lot of "instrumentals" where the vocals were scrubbed and it still bleeds into the main audio. :notgood:

Suicide Squad is going to have the Becky Hanson + CMX version on the retail album for various artists, however.
It's not meant to be instrumental. And since CMX is getting an actual credit, we should be getting the version pretty much as heard in the film.

So that's what real fans care about when it comes to trailer music.

They're definitely hard working people. Now I just need to actually buy one of their releases. I pick either Superman Returns or X2, since Batman Forever is out of print now, which sucks. That, and the Danny Elfman Batman Collection is too much at the moment.

I emailed [email protected] asking "if I may make about 2 requests or so".

Those requests are for Call of Duty and Call of Duty: Finest Hour, both by Michael Giacchino.
Call of Duty did have a release, but it is missing about 7 minutes or so of music.

I didn't make the requests yet, of course, just being as polite as I can asking if I can make a request or two.

And your point is? I provided the info when i didn't have to. Up to you to find it and do what you will with it. Wouldn't kill you to "scan the thread for it" as you'd like to say when all you really have to do is just find it within the thread yourself. Just use your browser's Find Next and you shouldn't have any problems. I provided the contact info because I was asked to in a nice way by HunterTech :)

Why are you guys clogging up their inboxes? It's nice you guys have such enthusiasm but I feel like such requests are superfluous. Like I've said, they've got their own plans and they're quite involved with the better side of the film music fanbase (i.e. not people here).

Hey! Look who's back! :)

2 requests is the maximum amount I would make. I also asked them if could first, before making the requests. It felt better and less intrusive / rude to do it that way, so I'm not like "gimmie cod scores thanks bye".

Plenty of people like me around? What exactly do you mean by that? because to me, that means that I'm not alone and in good company haha :)

@CLONEMASTER 6.41:

In all seriousness man, real nice of you :) Respect that. I did the same prior to actually giving them a sample of my long request list.

@TheSkeletonMan939:

I see your point. But I'm not a youtuber clogging up their facebook. If they felt the same way you do, they would have issued a no request policy or stated not taking at this time. Or they would have simply ignored. When I asked them if I could make requests, they said ok and so I did nothing wrong. Clonemaster apparently went that same route although he hasn't actually requested yet. My opinion is they welcome requests and would issue a no requests right now if they felt like it was getting too much. But I think they welcome it because it gives them an idea as to what people want. Foe example, if there's requests for say T2, Danny Elfman's Spiderman and the larger amount of requests are for T2, they'll put a higher priority on that as that got more requests. Of course this is just a hypothetical example. T2 and Elfman's Spiderman may have issues that need to be worked out, whatever those issues are for LLL to release them, if they ever plan to. There were some posts on this site about the T2 master tapes being lost. But what was lost can be found. As far as I know, no updates on this if it's in fact true.

But I get where you're coming from too. Flooding/clogging an open forum with requests is a way of taking advantage of someone's generosity which isn't nice. If I wanted to go in that direction, which I didn't, I would've "clogged" them with my entire list which is multiple pages long. If they feel like it's too much, they may just ignore too. So guys, request if you want. But please go easy on that as TheSkeletonMan939 does make some great points. I suggest maybe ask first if you can make them prior to actually making them or as a better suggestion, wait a while before even contacting them.

Like I said, they're film music fans themselves. They're very aware of what people want. The problem is that it's rarely a case of phoning the film company and asking for the master tapes. There are legal restrictions, signatures needed, and sometimes the film company will just say 'no'. It also takes time. That Family Guy album they just made? It took years. Just ask Azetlor about it. Same for their upcoming Ferris Bueller release - it took many years.

And sometimes a release just won't sell, and a business like La-La Land always has to be very aware of that possibility. I believe someone from the company once said how after the heavy costs of producing a Limited Edition to Dimitri Tiomkin's Giant, no one bought it. From now on, LLL will be very hesitant to produce soundtracks to Golden Age film scores.

Regarding your two examples, Spidey, and T2: the complete score to Spider-Man leaked years ago. You can find it all pretty easily even on YouTube, I'm sure. LLL likely could not offer much more than what's already been leaked - which translates to low sales.

You're right about T2, apparently the master tapes were lost in a fire. But on the other hand, T2's sound has been constantly remixed ever since its theatrical release. I'm pretty sure there are at least five different mixes for it - and some of them are recent, indicating that at least some form of the music must survive. I don't know. You'd think that would be a bit of a no-brainer to release, so I bet there's some behind-the-scenes trouble a record label would have to deal with in order to produce an album like that.

I very much agree with all your points. The Spider-Man thing is me wanting a proper package and lossless audio, all things a greedy hoarder make. Also for Young's work on 3 to have a proper release, which is insanely unlikely.

Their budget is already spent on plans for this year.

They announce on Facebook every now and then how many releases they have planned.
Their projected schedule for releases depend on money and time on their part.
And even though a lot of fans buy their stuff, just think how often they have stuff going into the discount bin for under $10.
And I don't think they see a dime on any of the Shipping & Handling charges, either.

I imagine if everyone actually bought their stuff at full price, they'd be able to take requests more seriously.

---------- Post added at 07:20 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:18 PM ----------

And we're talking they've got the whole year planned.

So any requests, they have to look into after a major release and see how far into the future they can do anything about (at least a year? maybe 3 years down the road? also they might have plans for it already but not for another 2 years?)

They also believe in the surprise element for their releases.
Like how trailers used to be and not everyone show up just to watch the trailer and walk out on the movie. :rolleyes:

Tomorrow morning La-La Land will formally announce two vinyl releases and five CD releases in celebration of Comic-Con!

Vinyl 1 - Star Trek theme
Vinyl 2 - Wonder Woman theme
CD1 - The Killing Joke
CD2 - ? maybe B:TAS Vol. 4 (they already confirmed they were working on this) ?
CD3 - ? maybe a Wonder Woman score release ?
CD4 - ?
CD5 - ?

Make your predictions now, folks!

An odd choice indeed, especially since they're both Limited Editions.

I assume previous Flash and Arrow installments did not sell quite well enough to warrant multi-disc releases this time around.

Yeah I agree with Mr. Gold and TheSkeletonMan on Flash S2 & Supergirl S1 being just one disc. Can't tell by the track names if they will include from Flash: Jay Garrick infusing himself with Velocity 9 and saving Central City and Henry Allen's death, and from Supergirl: Alex confessing to killing Astra, Kara apologizing to Alex after she was freed of the Red Krypotonite effects, World's Finest and S1 Finale music. Hope I'm wrong though. Hopefully Blake will update his site to include missing music, but to Mr. Gold's point, hasn't been done in a good while.

Regarding the JL track listing, not sure why some episodes only have 1-2 tracks. On a more happier note, however, glad the entire series is included. Hope it sells well enough to warrant a Justice League Unlimited set as that had some great music too. Some of them being in the episodes, Initiation, For The Man Who Has Everything, The Return, Dark Heart, Once & Future Thing 2-partner, Doomsday Sanction, Panic In The Sky, Divided We Fall, Destroyer)

Whereas each episode of the Batman and Superman series was composed as a sort of "mini-movie" in which the story told a story, Justice League is more like a bunch of individual themes and tunes spread out across 22 minutes. What they've done is taken the highlights and put them together. I was a little confused at first but I'm glad they took the route they did.

Yes, I really hope this sells well! Not only for a JLU set but also for a Volume 2.
For JLU, I'm hoping we'll see tracks from
- the Batman/Ace scene in EPILOGUE
- Everything from THE RETURN
- Flash's run in DIVIDED WE FALL
- All sorts of great Galatea cues from FEARFUL SYMMETRY
- the roundtable cue in DOOMSDAY SANCTION
- The last few moments from EPILOGUE where Terry and Bruce are talking (and of course the BB version of Walker's theme)

... and that's not the least of it!

The Tracks For Killing Joke Look Amazing!

@TheSkeletonMan:

Volume 2 for Justice League you mean? Hmmm....what's missing from the upcoming Volume 1 set? Thought Vol.1 had all the eps from the 2 JL seasons covered.

Once LLL's free of their currently working on project plans, I hope they consider music from the 1966 Batman series. They did an expanded edition of the 1966 movie which I've been listening to and watched the movie lately so it prompted me to now want the TV series music released as well at some point.

Nice track listing for The Killing Joke. The Arrow S4 and Lot S1 tracks as far as the research I've done haven't been released yet, probably will be when it's closer to the release date. My favorite Lot music overall aside from the Previously On....and opening/closing credits which is in every episode is contained in the Star City episode where we met an older, one armed Oliver Queen. The variation of the Oliver Queen theme when Sara first discovers Oliver's alive to which he replies "Get Out! Long time no see, Sara." is great. I love it. As for Arrow S4, really liked the music heard in the last scene of the finale.

Wonder Woman's also getting a deserved release. No idea if an OST was released previously for if I'm not mistaken, it's the TV series LLL's releasing a LE vinyl for.

@PonyoBellanote:

Well they can. It'd just mean a bigger set. But they went with the "not all eggs in one basket" approach. Understandable if they are unsure how well the JL set will sell. Why go through all the effort to release everything when you're unsure of how well it'll sell?

@TheSkeletonMan:

You're right. In Blackest Night isn't on Volume 1. The upcoming set does have everything I want - all or most of my favorite JL music - on it though so I am very happy about that and am anticipating purchasing it when it's released.

One cue that I was hoping would be included (but appears not to be) is the finale to "Wild Cards" (the Ace vs. Joker vs. Batman showdown)... oh well. It's certainly an excellent selection of cues though!

@TheSkeletonMan:

Haven't yet understood/see a genuinely good reason as to why everything isn't included. I get wanting to save some material for a future set provided the prior one does well. This isn't just about LLL. This is a general comment really. I don't know a good example I can provide beyond Batman 1989, Returns for Forever. They had pre-LLL releases. But people had to wait years for a label to release all the music. Why didn't the original release just contain everything? They don't really provide a reason for this leaving people to only speculate as to why. A lot of effort goes into the creation of these albums/sets nl for them to be incomplete as they're missing material. I myself am a completist who'd get all the music for one definitive release no matter how many discs it took bc I'd want my efforts to produce something complete. Not saying it'll be easy bc it won't be. But I take satisfaction in putting efforts for challenging things. I can understand something like T2 over loss of masters or if something's unreleased due to a copyright issue which might be why. Again, not a complaint or ant. More of just....wondering....

If JL Vol 1 sells well, maybe it'll be on a Vol 2. I'm no actually sure how much JL material is missing from Vol 1. Depending on that, it's possible and wouldn't surprise me if LLL took the route of making Vol 2 the missing JL material and provided there's space, a portion of JLU. With if there's a 3rd Vol, the rest of JLU. If there's a lot of JL missing, then VOl 2 will be just that while Vol 3 & 4 are JLU bc I don't know that they'll get all JLU material on Vol 3.

Also what I appreciate about LLL is they separate cues. Maybe not always. But it seems like they put more effort to separating over other labels, certainly the ones who release the Original Motion Picture Scores of films which combine multiple cues into one track. While I don't hate it bc in the end it's better to include the cues even if it's multiple cues on one track rather then leave the cue off the OST completely, I much prefer cues t b separate bc I get a better listen that way as it allows me to focus on one track and one cue at a time, you know? The multi-cues in one track also (sometimes) makes the track 5 minutes or longer depending on how many cues are thrown into a track.

The reason I can think of regarding why film scores don't get released complete initially is that it's a not a good investment. As much as we hate to admit it, film score soundtracks never really sell well. If one were to put in the effort to have an elaborate complete release and not have much sales numbers, the studios won't be happy. With your typical truncated releases, there isn't much of a loss making and releasing it. It would need to take years for the film and music companies to consider it, since they wouldn't care as much at that point and appreciate any extra money. Even then, the units are often limited and may take a while to sell. That doesn't include whether or not there's enough material available to justify a release (ex: Batman '89 and Batman Forever had the original album tacked on after it was apparent that there wasn't enough there for 2 discs). LLL had a set that took a lot out of them to make it, but didn't really sell well. It's unfortunate, but that's how things go.

There are two scores I can recall having a complete release initially. The first being Craig Armstrong's The Incredible Hulk. Being that it was a 2 disc set, with 45 tracks total, it pretty much presented everything in the movie. I imagine it only happened because director Louis Leterrier requested it to be. The other is Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross's The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, which actually had more material than the film (3 discs, 39 tracks total).

TheSkeletonMan939

Haven't yet understood/see a genuinely good reason as to why everything isn't included.

You mean for Justice League? Not all the music is worth listening to, and if Vol. 1 sells well enough, your reward is a Vol. 2 with more music.

Why didn't the original release just contain everything

Two reasons:
- It's impractical
- It's costlier

No one besides the crazy completionists want ALL the music from a movie. For most film music fans, the OSTs are enough; and for casual listeners, the OST is most certainly enough. Including ALL the cues from a film on a release drives the price tag up and is polarizing to a lot of people.
It wasn't until recently that people began wanting all the music from a movie. People used to be just fine with a single vinyl with the best selections from a film serving as the OST.

I can understand something like T2 over loss of masters or if something's unreleased due to a copyright issue which might be why. Again, not a complaint or ant. More of just....wondering....

The masters aren't lost. As far as I can tell that's just a rumor.

There's tons of stuff missing from Vol. 1. Entire episodes aren't even represented. But that's okay, because as I said, they've picked the strongest cues for release; if a second volume should be produced, I'm sure there'll be a lot of gems to be used for that one as well.

JLU will be its own release, I'm sure. And I don't imagine that they'll go out of their way to release ALL the Justice League music. Two volumes is enough.

No that wasn't towards Justice League. It was a general statement towards any/everything that's been released as an OST which are usually if not always incomplete.

Very true. But as sites such as this one shows, people are still (understandably) upset that a lot of good material was left out. Batman Returns is a great example. LLL's version had many things the original OST left out. One of which is all the music contained in the first Batman scene where he takes out the Red Triangle Circus Gang and saves Selina Kyle from that clown with that shock buzzer thing. The first OST contained nothing from that scene as far as I remember it. It's not necessarily that ALL the music HAS to be included. I just think people want the good stuff, a lot of which is often omitted from OST's till a label like LLL puts out a more completed effort of work.

Pretty much this. As much as I would love complete scores to my favorite films, it's pretty much a laborious and costly process to pad things out on 2 or more discs and not to mention that you have the-powers-that-be who would most likely say a simple "no". Best example: Lukas Kendall's brilliant remastering of "Thunderball", "You Only Live Twice", "Live And Let Die", "Diamonds Are Forever" and "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" would have contained more music, but the project was getting very costly and we would have had a 2-CD for "Thunderball", "You Only Live Twice", "Diamonds Are Forever" and "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" with all the cues intact (especially the ones that were left out of the album). Also "Live And Let Die" was a George Martin score and all his masters were in Abbey Road (he was the Fifth Beatle after all), so you know that means "money" and we've lost out on "The Man With The Golden Gun" getting the expanded treatment in 2003.

We also have to keep in mind that CDs rarely sells anymore, because we're in the digital age, unless it's a CD by a big name music artist and not anything remotely related to film.

I don't mind listening to a truncated/listening experience order OST, as I'm pretty much used to it with Disney soundtracks in the 90s, however, an expanded/complete release would be nice (I was literally blown away by RCA's complete soundtrack to "Star Wars" back when the Special Editions came out in '97, though I've only owned the soundtrack back in 1999 during TPM's release and played it endlessly. In fact, it was my first exposure to the art of the expanded/complete soundtrack). However, it's unlikely, due to costs, as it was already well-explained by members on here, but time can only tell.

I was watching the strange 3D amusement park short, Marvin The Martian In The Third Dimension, produced in 1996 (this 3D short is still being shown only in a place in England)..

And the music, although it is not credited, sounds pretty much, and I'd bet my neck off on it, since his style is so unique and distingishable, I'd bet it's Richard Stone. The great, late maestro, the next Carl Stalling. A wonderful. And I was wondering.. if LLL has dared with Family Guy, Batman, and many other Warner classics.. how long til they work on any of the 90s TV cartoons that have great music? Tiny Toons, Animaniacs, Freakazoid.. I don't care which one and I don't care how much, even just three episodes would do, but I really want his music to be released..

I'm pretty sure LLL has it on their sights - as much as they've been having FAMILY GUY for years - but the problem is, the amount of licensed music there is in the scores, how much there is, how little they are - they're difficult to release in CD, but I do hope one day they do it. Because trust me, his scores are fantastic.

Then again, they can also release Bruce Broughton's Tiny Toons, and anyother - it's more about the show than composers, really.

Nope, it's all plain CGI. It's just well done/stylized. It's impressive for the year it was made.. it premiered in 1996, but having into account the months it takes for it to be made, it could be done in 1995.

The youtube video is so low quality, it makes the main characters look so poorly made. They look hand-drawn in that 360p.

Looking at wikipedia, the 2D version has been released on home media in...

So someone could have easily updated the video for a better picture quality upload.

"It's impressive for the year it was made"

Same can be said for T2: Judgment Day which anyone who's seen that film (and many are probably on this site) already knows. Not only was it ahead of its time, but still holds up today and probably better than most if not all today's films. See back then, the effects of T2 weren't so common, cutting edge, ahead of its time, etc. Now though, films overuse them and many times if not always to the point of where they rely on those effects to sell to make quick cash rather than put much if not effort into the story, acting, etc. T2 was very effects heavy. But it also told a great story, had great acting, music, and everything else needed (and probably more) to make a movie not only successful, but still talked about all these years later. I say this as I rewatched it recently. And you can throw Back To The Future Trilogy, especially the first 2 in the same vein as T2.

I say this as I rewatched it recently. And you can throw Back To The Future Trilogy, especially the first 2 in the same vein as T2.

It's DAK's favorite film! I also got this:

Indeed. As much as I love the DMP, I would never buy, say, a Justice League 10-disc set. That's a huge investment and a lot of music that just won't be listened to at the end of the day.

When it comes to what animated stuff we want to see released from LLL, were always talking about the DC animated propertes, but WB has some more properties as well. It would be neat to see releases for Pinky and the Brain, Animaniacs, Tiny Toons etc... Hell they could put all three of those in one 2-Disc set since the music in all those shows are very similar.

BUT I think music from the original Looney Tunes shorts would be a better possibility. Not only because the shorts are more popular, but the music is more recognizable as well. The only problem would be to see if Warner Bros. still have the original masters for the shorts. Or if they do, if they're in any state that can be restored/remastered for a release.

Some Looney Tunes episodes have been given the isolated score treatment. Some are music-only and others are M&E. Check out the "Platinum Collections".

Incidentally, I'm stunned that today Warner cheaps out on their 'music for animation' department and thereby relegates their much-anticipated Killing Joke movie - which, by the way, was Fathom Event's most successful film showing - to nothing more than a string orchestra. Whereas twenty years ago they provided the budget for full orchestras for everything from Batman to Tiny Toons.
It's not like their animation today is all that good - it usually sucks balls.

I'm pretty sure LLL would have it easier to get scores from other cartoon animated shows of Warner in the 90s, than the shorts of more than 70 years ago that probably are hugely deteriorated, don't exist, are music&effects cues.. etc, etc. I think Warner only has recording sessions of the 50s and 60s shorts. The 30s and 40s they have by means of isolated scores, I think. I think it's very nich and hard to sell for both types, really. It may be probably too costly and may not sell as good, like always. Only hardcore fans would get the albums - and LLL and Intrada have a very hard time selling even limited scores. They take time to sell out..

The scores for the 90s cartoons would be easier to find, I hope, and are just as good, if we talk Animaniacs or Tiny Toons, specially, that are very similar to the classic Looney scores. Not to mention, both cartoons, the old and new, are dificult store in volume sets, and pretty sure are expensive to get in due to licensing, since they use A LOT of popular music, and they have to pay for the recordings that use "Powerhouse"... I guess when LLL is completely done with DC... they may try.. I guess they do have it in the list of want to do, but hey, it's never easy.. but if they managed to do Family Guy, who knows, in a future we may get Animaniacs, Tiny Toons. I'll scream out of joy the day that happens. That, or Freakazoid, pretty much any 90s cartoon that had a good score in the Warners.

For now, all we can do is wait til I get a disc reader for my laptop, then rip the Animaniacs chapters' 5.1 audio, and let Sparky do its jobs of isolating music..

And they were. Just that for the first volumes of Tiny Toons and Animaniacs, Warner somehow decided to do 5.1 mixes of them.. which are not real 5.1, but just music isolated to one side, dialogues to the other. The 2.0 stereo option is available for every volume though.

The only good thing about this is that we may get a isolated score if we work on it

If you don't have a disc drive, how do you know that?

Because I've had people tell me, and other people have tried doing isolated scores of Animaniacs.. and guessing, because you really can't do much of a 5.1 with a show that was mixed in Stereo.

If I'm not mistaken, Animaniacs did get some soundtrack releases and I think some of those tracks were comprised of Pinky & The Brain. To my knowledge, Tiny Toons, Looney Tunes, etc did not get one. Aside from Animaniacs, the only themes (for the most part) recognized from these shows are the opening and end title credits. If some label wanted to, they could just put out a compilation set of animated tunes comprised of opening and end title music from various animated shows such as the ones aforementioned here along with others like Muppet Babies, Captain Planet, King Arthur, Conan The Adventurer, 80's Transformers, and others that never got an official release.

There was a comment about things not selling well bc it's a niche market. This comment really isn't necessarily about piracy although I do think that's it evident that that's played a big role in the declines of items such as discs. I think that now in the digital age we live in, disc purchases aren't quite as common as they wee in the 90's before this digital age came. I remember going to stores like The Wall, FYE, purchasing album or DVD, disc after disc as they came out. Now with the digital age, people feel they don't have to over clutter their living space with discs (even if they're placed in disc binders, eventually that space will run out and they'd have to buy a new one to fit the rest of their discs) and just listen to (most of the) music they listen to digitally by purchasing on iTunes or listening on Spotify.

They'll watch an entire season of a show or all the seasons that are uploaded via Netflix so they don't have to change discs to get to the next episode. Discs can often get scratched or whatever problem and sometimes all you can do is buy another set. Digitally, that is not an issue. Now, most of the disc purchasers are (mostly) comprised of collectors and/or label supporters. The thing is there's only so much you can it on a disc whereas digitally you can put every cue of the entire series if you wanted because cyber space is limitless while disc space is the opposite.

There's pros and cons to both and people will have their own opinions about which method's better meaning there's really no one definitive right or wrong way to go about it. While digitally getting your media means not having to spend money, no worries about cluttering or disc issues, not having to change discs to get to another episode, disc buyers have the chance at getting the better/best quality, not have to worry about missing out if their internet had a problem....Everyone's different. It comes down to how YOU want to consume whatever media you're into.

There has never been Animaniacs or Tiny Toon album for scores. Looney Tunes there's been two or three in decades, I think. I have some in my HDD but there's been.

Animaniacs has never had a score piece in a CD, but Tiny Toons has had one suite from a episode in a Bruce Broughton album.

Tylers' TMNT is in my opinion better and more alive with more melody and bombastic pieces than the garbage from Jablonsky (no offense Stevie).

I know that there is a complete score around, but I want to add it as an original fysical disc (in my almost 1200 original disc soundtrack collection).

Spidey 2 had a few good pieces that were not released on disc.

I can't wait for those LLL DC soundtracks!

-----

As for another score I wish to release in a complete form (though it's already complete/expanded if you own both the DCC and the Concord recordings. I also have a soft spot for the expanded Concord soundtracks, especially after being recommended to them via Oliver Harper's Retrospective series on YouTube), is "Raiders of the Lost Ark", as it's the 35th anniversary. John Williams gave the "Okay" for LLL to release both "Home Alone" and "Hook", I think "Raiders" should be the one to go. However, that's wishful thinking on my end and it's pretty superfluous, as LLL has other things in store that are much grander than "Raiders", 35th anniversary or not.

I'm sure as hell looking forward to it. Nice to even have that of all those notes of 'coughing' he plays on the keyboard, to fool others into believing he's terribly ill :laugh: If "Coughlin Bros. Mortuary" is what I think it is.

The Bourne Supremacy (2004) by John Powell, Dante's Peak (1997) by John Frizzell, because in an expanded score that I found on the internet not all, but most of the material that they didn't put in the original score album and I'd like to have it, Dj Vu (2006) Composed & Conducted by Harry Gregson-Williams, because I heard they didn't put everything in the soundtrack, Green Zone (2010) by John Powell, Man on Fire (2004) by Harry Gregson-Williams, because I heard they didn't put everything in the soundtrack, The Martian (2015) Composed & Conducted by Harry Gregson-Williams, because after hearing about the For Your Consideration album, I want the material that's on that FYC album, Reign of Fire (2002) Composed & Conducted by Edward Shearmur, because they didn't put in all of the material in the soundtrack, some of it was really good The Spy Who Loved Me (1977) by Marvin Hamlisch, Twister (1996) by Mark Mancina, because they didn't include the prologue material in the score album, Unbreakable (2000) by James Newton Howard, because they changed some of the tracks for the soundtrack, Unstoppable (2010) Composed & Conducted by Harry Gregson-Williams, because they changed some of the tracks for the soundtrack & the didn't include everything and some of the tracks weren't put together properly The World Is Not Enough & You Don't Mess with the Zohan (2008) by Rupert Gregson-Williams, because I like Rupert's work and there aren't that many score albums that have his work.

For October, the label's plan is "3 titles on Oct 11 and a 4 cd set on Oct 25".
For the 11th, one of the titles is Miss Peregrine and another is Arrow S4. I wonder what the other is...
For the 25th, do I dare hope for Batman Beyond?? Then again, so many DC titles came out in the summer...

No one bought any of the classic TV series boxsets LLL put out before, so why would they waste time (and MONEY) producing more stuff from that very specific genre which no one will buy?

And probably a Buzz Killington to Giacchino's Call of Duty: Finest Hour too. That might never be released. But one can always dream.

It's such a great score. There's something wrong with the music directly from the game, or something. The sound is pretty rough. But listenable, to an extent, at least. But I've only ever heard it from the PS2 version... maybe it's different from the Xbox and GameCube versions.

1977 - Damnation Alley

I think that only 20 minutes or so are released officialy of the second one.

Kingdom had no original score. It used tracked music, some of it composed by Goldsmith for the original "Twilight Zone" tv series (specifically from the episode "The Invaders"). The bulk of the library music and songs used in it, however, are non-Goldsmith.

The score for "The Invaders", btw, was released by Varese in one of its five volumes of "Twilight Zone" tv scores (on LP in 1983 and, later in 1990, on CD) and, again, in the 4 CD "Twilight Zone 40th Anniversary collection" (1999, Silva America STD 2000).

Unfortunate news regarding the future of DC Comics at their label:

... almost every single one of these CDs we have released have failed in terms of sales. We were very honored to release these great scores but they never seemed to have found much of an audience. Justice League Dark will be the final CD we release from the DC Animated films. As for some of the classic animated series, at this point we will just focus on Batman the Animated Series shows and most likely ignore all other incarnations from here on out due to lack of sales. In other words do not expect more Justice League, Superman, or Teen Titans from us in the future.

Crud, and I was looking foward to a JLU release. Ah well; they can't be blamed for lack of trying.
