I saw the film the week it opened. It was rated 'M' at the time ostensibly for war violence and profanity. I was a kid and it was one of the first times I recall hearing "dirty words" in a movie. The term "shit-dipped punji sticks" was used a couple of times in the original release, yet there's no trace of them in any of the home video copies. It's clear the studio doesn't want to tarnish the Dukes spotless record so they went in and "printed the legend" by removed the "offending" terms. Did I dream it or can anyone out there confirm the memory?
