Big fan of Dutoit's recording of "The Planets" here, so I'll definitely give this a try, thanks. :)

Rats! Foiled again!!

Just when I thought I'd quickly download these fabulous files then slink back into the Dark Side from whence I came, I'm struck by conscience. Curses!

Very well. If I must:

Thank you, Mr BobTheKnob, for sharing this fine gift of eternal music with *the unwashed, sweaty masses of this forum and with the entire Galaxy by extension.

Although I fail to understand why there's a circle of naked dudes dancing around one of the front covers, I must assume they're also caught up in the rapture of the music between the front/rear covers.

At least, I hope that's the case. Either that or the entire Quadrant is turning "Happy" and "giggly" for no ascertainable reason??

*Except for me. True, I sweat like a pig under this insanely hot armor, and my codpiece gives me a hellish case of Galactic Jock Itch, putting me in an even bitchy-er mood than usual meaning that innocents will more likely die needlessly and horrifically because I'm miserable. I just wanted you all to know that I do bathe. When the mood strikes.

Since its creation (in 1910) was in such proximity to Le Sacre du Printemps' premiere in 1913, and since both works are by Russian artists, La Danse has come to be commonly associated with the "Dance of the Adolescents/Young Girls" after the Introduction to Le Sacre's Part 01. That is the reason why Decca chose to put it on the cover of the Dutoit/Montreal recording.

Oh. Those are female creatures?

Well, in that case I heartily endorse the depiction of naked female primates, basking in the joys of living. Nudity as art, depicting the glories of the anatomy. Ayess...

Besides, anybody knows nudity is only smutty when it's naked dudes. Or ancient Greek sculpture. Right?

Thanks for that clarification Mr BobtheKnob. Keep up the good works. Your check is in the mail.

Oh. Those are female creatures?Wellllllll, it's all a matter of interpretation. Matisse never really specified one way or the other, it's just that, as I said, his painting has come to be commonly associated with that part of Le Sacre. How you choose to view it for your own benefit is entirely up to you. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/42753709/Photobucket/nod.gif

By the way, for you guys that have been downloading this during the last few days, you should also seriously check out the Litton-Bergen recordings that I posted here (Thread 207405). I personally believe Litton-Bergen outdid Dutoit-Montreal, and besides that, you have Surround Sound and Hi-Def 2-channel (stereo) options available on that one as well.

I want to also mention, however, that if you're serious about being "always on the lookout for more Stravinsky", then you might want to also consider the Andrew Litton-Bergen Philharmonic recordings of these same ballets. To my ears, I find them even more energetically and imaginatively performed than the Dutoit-Montreal recordings. (Plus they're available in more formats, Surround Sound, Hi-Res Stereo, or standard CD audio.) If you're interested, they're available in this thread...

Thread 207405

Just post a request in that thread (and be sure to tell me what format(s) you want, Surround, Hi-Res Stereo, or standard CD audio or any combination thereof), and I'll get you some links as soon as I can, so you can make your own comparison. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/42753709/Photobucket/nod.gif
