This documentary film is inspired by the life and history of Billy the Kid and his friend Pat Garrett between the years 1875 and 1881. It traces the different stages of life this marginal and off-the-law of New Mexico on a poetic tone (including making numerous references to Arthur Rimbaud) and romantic, also
exposing the theory of non-death of Billy the Kid in 1881, and his change of identity in the years that followed.
