Music of Georges I. Gurdjieff




The Gurdjieff Folk Instruments Ensemble based in Armenia was founded in 2008, and is led by the Armenian musician, Levon Eskenian. The Ensemble’s awards include the prestigious Dutch Edison Award: Best World Music Album 2012 and Armenian National Music Award: Best Folk Music Album 2011, for their album, “Music of Georges I. Gurdjieff,’’ produced by ECM Records.
The ensemble consists of Armenia’s leading practitioners of traditional music performing Duduk, Blul, Kamancha, Oud, Kanon, Santur, Tar/Saz, Dap/Daf, Dhol, and Tombak. The repertoire is composed of the “mystic and spiritual teacher,” George I. Gurdjieff's Armenian, Greek, Assyrian, Arabic, Kurdish, Caucasian spiritual and folk music, authentically arranged for Eastern instruments by Eskenian. The repertoire also includes additional Eastern music that exemplifies Gurdjieff’s musical influences during his travels in the East.

Super share.
His music actually is there as an interpretation of his 'Fourth Way' philosophy, (or rather Physchology). His system explains it all.
People might like to read some of his books and the books about his system.

I might be using the wrong 'rar opening program, but to me it appears that when I used 7zip to extract the files, tracks 13 and 17 showed 0 size and the pdf from the art and text folder was notified as corrupt.
Am I using the wrong unzip program, maybe?

Actually, whilst listening to it, I see that some of the other tracks appear corrupted. Like I say, am I using the wrong upzip program?

I had heard of Gurdjieff, but didn't know much about music being something he was engaged in. I love "ethnic" folk music, and I thank you for this interesting share and intersection of my interests in philosophy and music.

If I'm correct, I think his music side was actually used to accompany his dances. Out of the two it was his dances (flow of movement) that he wanted to emphasis, more or less to impress on others that nothing stays the same, and is forever evolving and changing. Also he was well into the 'octave's thing to illustrate his ideas.
Well, I may be wrong, but that's my take on it, anyway.
