If you could let us know how the WaterTower pressing is that'd be fantastic. I'd love to exchange mine for the import but given I purchased from Amazon UK which only has the MOV pressing on sale then so I'm asking for refund then re ordering from Amazon US/WaterTower.
Out of all the vinyls that I have this is def the worst one, and even I wouldn't mind of the issues if not for the whole pitch issue which really ticks me off every time I listen to it. Hell, the drops on Side C between Murph and Detach are horrible. Really horrible.
Will do, definitely. I plan on ripping and posting it. My turntable is not some stellar, high-end glorious piece of equipment and the needle isn't so great, but it gets the job done. My vinyl rips always have interference/noise and it's because of the turntable. It's definitely not meant for an audiophile. It's not so bad when I rip an actual song, like say Tom Petty's Don't Come Around Here No More, because there's so much going on that you don't hear the interference. It's different with a score when there's lots of silences and subtle moments.
Anyway, I'm expecting it to be as bad as the MoV version and we'll just have to wait and see. The fact that the decision was made to include Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night speaks volumes.

As I mentioned earlier my vinyl copy was in poor shape so I've sent it back and I'm waiting for a return, but I did make a rough rip of side d when just faffing around as it was the least problematic side; only being affected by somewhat poor surface noise and some inner groove distortion. Whereas the rest was affected by warping, very poor surface noise, scratches/dents, off center pressing etc. A total car crash really..
Here's a little taster for now though:

..MEGA link, renamed, double-zipped and password protected to hopefully avoid takedown.
..Password: endurance169
Bear in mind my cartridge is brand new/not broken in and I hadn't fully calibrated/aligned it at this point so it's a little harsh plus I forgot to unplug my laptop mains supply which drops the noise floor about another 6db. But still, the mastering is clearly better imo. Just hope myself and/or DAK can get a good quality pressing. *fingers crossed*
P.s. Only have limited bandwidth on mega until next month, so any mirrors will be appreciated. Link should be good for up to 30 individual downloads of the file.

The annoying thing is that Warner & Reprise used to produce some of the highest quality vinyl pressings about via the plants they used and this carried through well to Warner Sunset Records with the likes of the exceptional "The Dark Knight" release on vinyl (which now goes for anywhere from 180-1800). But since the switch to WaterTower Music the record pressings have gone down the pan with the use of Furnace & Record Industry.

I have TDK on vinyl and it's in pretty good shape. I have the entire trilogy actually, including 2 different pressings of BB. I'd be willing to sell TDK if the price is right
I feel like with everything lately that as time goes by, the quality that is put into a product is less and less. If it were say, Mondo then I wouldn't be worried. But it's WaterTower, who has plagued customers with problems in the past. I almost expect to get a shitty pressing so this way if I don't, I'll be pleasantly surprised.

Just had a listen - your one is even better than mine - doesn't have the pitch issue!

Is yours pressed off centre? Even if it's off slightly and the stylus moves visibly left/right it will cause pitch shift. Organs are also one of the most sensitive instruments to pitch shift. LP1 in mine had this..

Just got my vinyl running, lots of surface noise on some sides and side B has a huge mark on it. Pitch is fine though
Side B is a mess, A is okish.

Ahh ok. Ya that's the one DonkeeKong said is fudged up. I'll be getting the WaterTower pressing on Saturday and will rip it ASAP. My expectations are so low that I'll be shocked if it's not as bad as the MoV pressing

Isn't that insane? I've never seen it either. It's because there is not one single source cue in the entire film. It's all score.
Now that you've seen it, go buy the damn Blu-ray and post a pic of the IMAX cell in my thread! (
Thread 188317)
And what was your favorite part of the movie? If you have one yet. Remember to use a spoiler tag

Crazy or what? I guess you're right, but there are some sessions I have that have gaps with no source explanation. Just a random gap.
I would if I had a blu-ray player, but I don't. I've never bought a blu-ray before, as I can't play them. Do the IMAX cells only come in the blu-ray package? I'm guessing there's a 2-Disc DVD release of it somewhere which I might get. If money wasn't an issue, I'd buy a blu-ray just for the IMAX cell. :)
Favourite part? Gee, that's tough. Ok, here we go:
Visually: my favourite parts were a) Going through the wormhole and b) When the Endurance was passing by the black hole. Absolutely stunning stuff. A real shame I never saw this in the cinema, damn it.
Mentally: my favourite parts were a) When Coop & Co. get back to the Endurance after escaping the first planet (Miller's?) having taken up 23 Earth years. Absolutely awesome mind-gasm. (One quick question about that bit - does this mean they spent just over three hours on Miller's planet? Because I didn't seem that long. Did it really take that long for the craft to drain from the first wave?) and b) When I realised who the ghost was when Cooper enters the tesseract-thingy.
Suspense/Action: my favourite parts were a) the waves on Miller's planet. Terrifyingly awesome. And b) Mann and Cooper's fight on Mann's planet. Finally, some human conflict. And c) Mann's attempted docking and resulting implosion. That bit literally made me jump out of my skin. I was expecting it to a certain extent, but it still made my cat regret sleeping on my lap whilst I watched.
Emotionally: my favourite parts were a) Cooper watching his kids' messages after returning from Miller's planet. And b) Prof. Brand's death. And c) Cooper's despair inside the tesseract-thingy.
How about you?!

I don't know if it's possible to have a single favorite scene from a film like this. Sully mentioned a bunch of great scenes, but one that I really loved was when Cooper comes back and get's to see Murph again (now over 90 years old).
BTW Sully, as far as the 23 years, don't forget that the gravitation pull isn't only on the surface of the planet. As soon as they broke the atmosphere they were captured by the gravity. So you also have to factor in the time to get down (which is why Cooper chooses to descend so quickly) and also to get back up to endurance.

Good point. Guess it all adds up.
About the ending, that was the one bit I didn't quite get into. What really happened??

Cooper went back through the wormhole (remember, "Coooper Station" is said to be orbiting Saturn already so it's a relatively short trip to the wormhole this time). He then went onto Edmunds planet to re-unite with Amelia Brand and help to raise the new colony. At least that's the way I see it, anyone else see it differently?

yep, he came out of the wormhole, they found and rescued him and took him to the space station. When Murph found out he was there, she decided to go visit him. Although due to the difference in timeflow, she was now an old woman. Then Coop (feeling totally out of place in that artificial world) borrowed a ship, went through the wormhole again to re-unite with Murph in the colony she was starting with the help of the robot.

But how did he get out of the tesseract and get back through the wormhole?? And when was Cooper Station (or Coooper Station, if you like) built?? What actually is it? And if mankind are living on it, why do they need a new planet?? And how did anyone find Cooper? Just floating around space?? Wouldn't he have died of starvation or thirst... or run out of oxygen before then?? And why did he only talk with Murph for, like, two minutes when he's nearly died trying to save her and see her again through the entire movie?!?!?!?????
I dunno. lol.

Just put in my US WaterTower pressing....so. Much. Cleaner. Difference is night and day...this is THE Interstellar vinyl I've been waiting so long for.
And turns out the pitch issue was with my turntable, it was spinning too fast, at closer to 34rpm. Had to get a tiny screwdriver to adjust it down to 33.3 and it's all good :)

Got my replacement MOV/EU copy, the pressing is considerably better but still below par.
Surface noise is the main issue. Gonna get a WaterTower/US pressing seeing as it seems to be the best version out there.
On another slightly related note, Inception & The Dark Knight have both just got a repress and can be got from US/Canada for about 25. Received The Dark Knight on Saturday from Canada...suffice to say, these Warner/Sunset/Reprise pressings are on a whole other level compared to more recent soundtracks under the WaterTower labels.
