Jimmy Smith – La Mtamorphose des Cloportes (1965) [FLAC]

NOTES
Director Pierre Granier-Deferre who was at the time, haunted by the sound of the Hammond organ, was dreaming of having Jazz musician and genius organ player, Jimmy Smith to score his film noir: “La Mtamorphose des Cloportes” (The Woodlouse Metamorphosis) with Lino Ventura. He casually mentioned it at dinner, one evening to Producer and Head of Fox Studios, Darryl Zanuck who shrugged and hired him on the spot. Mr. Smith was flown to Paris and stayed in a Palace. It took him two days and two nights to compose and record the music. While he did not understand a word of Audiard’s dialogue or the plot, he used the mood and the way the actors carried themselves to improvise most of the music. The result radiated speed and gentleness, like Jimmy Smith himself. The record also contains 5 tracks of famous film and TV themes performed by Smith and his band and arranged by none other than Lalo Schifrin or Oliver Nelson (Mr. Six Million Dollar Man).
If you’re in the mood for some Jazz music, Enjoy!
