Lets Start With This.

New For The New NCIS Series [New Orleans]

NCIS Season 11 Episodes 18 & 19 [2 Part Pilot For New Orleans]
"Crescent City (Part I)"

A Congressman is found murdered in New Orleans, Gibbs and his team join forces with Fornell's FBI team and the local NCIS field. Gibbs reunites with long-time compatriot and friend NCIS Special Agent Dwayne "King" Pride (Scott Bakula). With that, Gibbs and Bishop head to New Orleans while DiNozzo and McGee stay in D.C. to work the case with Fornell. Things soon become personal as the Congressman was a former NCIS agent and their contemporary and his murder could possibly be linked to one of their old cases. The episode ends with Gibbs, Pride and Agents Meredith Brody and Christopher LaSalle standing in a square while from a hotel room, the unrevealed killer begins taking surveillance photographs of the NCIS team as Gibbs and Pride look on.

"Crescent City (Part II)"

Another victim is found in the wetlands, dead at least two weeks. His throat had been cut with a steel blade and jet fuel is found in tire tracks near his body. Abby calls Gibbs to say the jet fuel matched the fuel found on the car mats belonging to victim Agent Doyle. A suspect, believed to have been obsessed with Congressman McLane and the Priviliged killer case, is also found dead. Gibbs and Pride track the killer, the son of a McClane contributor, to a military bar and a nearby cemetery, after Gibbs recalls marble dust also being found in Doyle's car. After solving this case, Pride and his team receive another one, while Gibbs waits for Bishop in order to return home.

5 Reasons NCIS: New Orleans absolutely must make it to series (http://www.sheknows.com/entertainment/articles/1034181/reasons-ncis-new-orleans-needs-to-make-it-to-series)

You should not lie to people Kirk. As of 9 hours ago, Agents of Shield and Almost Human still were not cancelled or renewed. Renweal is likely for agents but not yet confirmed. ABC has not announced any renewals yet. Source:

ABC

There has not been an awful lot of movement at ABC. The network has yet to renew a single series, but between strong ratings and support amongst ABC brass Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal, Castle, Resurrection, Modern Family and Once Upon A Time are all considered locks for renewal. Of the network’s bubble shows, Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. now looks set to swing a second season, largely thanks to the internal politics of Marvel within Disney. The Middle has been a fairly consistent player and is one ABC topper Paul Lee, who recently inked a new deal to stay on as President, is a big supporter of and as such is expected to return. The same is true of The Goldbergs, which has been an OK player on Tuesday nights. On the flip side of that, Trophy Wife wont be coming back. The series does enjoy support at ABC, but the ratings just aren’t good enough. Critical darling Nashville has had some soft ratings this season, but is still considered a shoo in for a pick up, as is Revenge, which is close to the numbers needed for syndication. On the comedy side, Last Man Standing is looking good for a renewal as one of the only comedies that has been able to draw a decent audience for ABC in the Friday night slot. Things are not as clear for Suburgatory. The comedy narrowly avoided cancellation last season and has struggled in the ratings, but sources suggest that it could swing another pick up. Friday night series The Neighbors is considered dead with no chance of coming back. The same is true of Mixology, a fact hinted at when some cast members started booking pilots. By all accounts Super Fun Night is also a goner, though there has been a suggestion of retooling the comedy for a second season. Meanwhile, Betrayal and Killer Women are both set to be officially cancelled, joining the likes of Back In The Game, Minds Games, Lucky 7, Once Upon A Time In Wonderland an

I'm Debating On Wether To Watch the Tv Series BONES Does Anyone Have Any Opinion On That Show And What Its Like??

Amanda
04-19-2014, 07:38 PM
For anyone else, it is an acquired taste. The autopsy/body stuff is disturbing to say the least. They always come up with new and nasty body disposals. I feel it has fallen a bit now. But the first couple of season's story arcs are fun. And Boreanaz is always a good watch.

sorei
04-19-2014, 08:27 PM
And Boreanaz is always a good watch.

for me: not always.
Actually Boreanaz was the reason I peeked into that series.
In comparison to Angel, that one shocked me for life. For my taste, he is so..... (sorry) ridiculous in that role, i never watched again....

Also I never really forgave them for making Bones so YOUNG.
In the novels she is a woman my age. Would have loved to see THAT.

Amanda
04-19-2014, 08:29 PM
I can also recommend The Black List and resurrection for keeping me hooked. And as hard as it is to watch, Hannibal is riveting.

sorei
04-19-2014, 08:54 PM
i totally agree with blacklist (YES!) and resurrection.

I still need to watch Hannibal.

I liked Helix, too.

James (The Disney Guy)
04-19-2014, 08:56 PM
I could never get into hannibal i suppose because anthony hopkins films were so gd. It was just a bit slow of a series. :)

Amanda
04-19-2014, 09:04 PM
I have not seen any of the new sci-fi series. And I never got quite got into Warehouse or Haven. I do an odd mix of shows. I like a lot of the half hour comedies, the crime series, and an occasional drama.I do 2 1/2 Men, Mike & Molly, Two Broke Girls, Big Bang Theory, Law & Order, CSI Black List resurrection, Drop Dead Diva, Food Network programming, Cosmos, Agents of Shield, Person of Interest, Elementary, Doctor Who, Rizzoli & Isles, ummm...The goldbergs, New Girl, Last Man Standing, Blue Bloods, the 20/20 - Dateline true crome stuff, daily Show and Colbert Report...

Hannibal is not slow, it is methodical. It is all psycological warfare and chess. But, that of course does not appeal to everyone.

sorei
04-19-2014, 09:36 PM
i actually do not like the half hour programs.

oh yes, elementary, right!
person of interest needs to wait, i will watch it though, have been watching the first season, but, kind of every series he is in seems to get cancelled?

Amanda
04-19-2014, 09:40 PM
It's been renewed for next season. So I'd recommend it. It gets more complicated as it goes on. It is good.

sorei
04-19-2014, 10:01 PM
lol, it gets more complicated? for me that sounds good :D

@kirk: Hopkins is good of course, but the series is a different world entirely. i like it when they take a bit of time to get into things. i will watch Hannibal for sure ;)

Amanda
04-19-2014, 10:09 PM
Hopkins is of course the first. This new Hannibal is totally different in tone. Much creepier in a way. But the show is very odd. Lots of allegory and such. Lots of psychological one-upsmanship. It is a chess game with people as pawns and Hannibal is controlling it all.

As for the half hour comedies, I have a varied sense of humor so enjoy that. It is hit or miss for any though. The only comedy I cannot miss is Big Bang Theory.

sorei, Person of Interest starts with just the two, and now ends up as a team and a second machine. It gets more complicated and darker by the season. We learn more about the machine, but in chunks and it takes time. It is worth it, but not as intense as Black List is.

James (The Disney Guy)
04-19-2014, 10:25 PM
Maybe its worth another try. Thxs sorei :)

Amanda
04-19-2014, 10:42 PM
Kirk, Bones can be good or boring, depending on the episode/season. For a while they were hunting a serial killer and the pay off for that was cool. But other times not so much I can guarantee a squelchy cringe inducing body nearly every time though.

04-19-2014, 10:44 PM

Well that's probably a good thing as it's presumed cancelled....I do not see how it could sustain much longer anyway. Much like Under The dome and a slew of others whose story concept just do not lend themselves to years of filming. Which really is a problem because the goal is to hit syndication and make profit that way, but that takes trhee years of episodes normally.

Bones is definitely worn thin. It should have ended with the wedding, which should have been a finale last year. The domestication thing drains drama from the leads, so they turn to the supporting characters and saddle them with rediculous stories. Because really we know - know that how dire it may seem, neither Bones nor Booth will actually die. :/

I've whittled my selection of current (as in currently on the air) TV shows to three:

PERSON OF INTEREST

NEW GIRL

THE BIG BANG THEORY

It will grow to four shows when ROOKIE BLUE comes back to begin a new season.

Prior shows I used to watch that are still running are:

BONES
CASTLE
CSI

The reason I stopped watching these was I simply burned out on 'procedural' type shows. Sure, I still like Castle and Agent Booth (Nathan Fillion and David Boreanaz...I will always be a fan of both actors) but like all procedurals, it's same-old, same-old each week. I just lost interest over time.

CSI I actually stopped watching during Lawrence Fishburne's temporary lead on the show.

I have still to watch season 6 of TRUE BLOOD, which I've saved somewhere.

The one recent series I absolutely loved which was canceled last season, was SouthLAnd (spelling with capital 'LA' deliberate).

Past series I've loved were:

ANGEL (All-time favorite series)
STAR TREK: DEEP SPACE NINE
SLIDERS (Not season 5)
FIREFLY
BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER
EVERWOOD
THE O.C.
ALIEN NATION
UGLY BETTY
CHAPPELLE'S SHOW
KINDRED: THE EMBRACED (1996 short-lived vampire drama)
THE VISITOR (1997 short-lived sci-fi drama from the creators of "Independence Day")

The animation wasn't messed up or "new age". It was very tolerable and in the same spirit as TAS from the 90's.

I never watched Almost Human because I knew the network would cancel it in season one. How? you ask...it it's FOX, the network where any sci-fi or horror themed show rarely makes it out of season 1 or 2. The X-Files and Fringe are of coarse exceptions but back to Almost Human, chances are I will get around to seeing it eventually on Syfy channel eventually or on dvd.

I read somewhere they get funding from international venues as well so they can go on forever, as apposed to USA-funding/views.

Which is good.

Yes. Dancing With The Stars, The Middle, About A Boy and Hannibal are officially renewed.

Mixology, The Neighbors, Trophy Wife, Suburgatory, Community, Growing Up Fisher, Revolution, Super Fun Night, Crisis and Believe are all officially cancelled.

**Bloodshed abounds**

Too bad about Growing Up Fisher. I like J.K. Simmons in most everything. I had a feeling about Believe. The previews were exciting and full of promise, but after 3 episodes I gave up on it.

I heard about JJ losing two series.
I didn't even really know about them.

So many new shows all the time, it's really hard to keep up.
I remember this being one of the reasons why I waited so long to watch anything.
It wasn't until season 4 that I started watching Family Guy.
Dead Like Me was way over-cancelled by the time I watched any of it.
The same goes for Firefly.

I heard Community got cancelled. I don't watch it. But the social networks were raging about it (and not caring about their own spelling).

fast is not always good. (not even in tv series)
actually some are fast and think fast is enough.

I can enjoy both, classic and new.

every decade has its own style in terms of tv series just as well, i guess.
Think of Starsky & Hutch (Soul/Glaser) or Charlie's Angels (Jackson/Smith/Fawcett)
sometimes, even not knowing when tis tv series was done, you can see it, not only watching what they wear but how the series is constructed and filmed.

And if you grew up at that time, or: with that show, it will have a meaning for you most likely, no matter what else you might come to prefer later.

for me, trek, hulk (bixby), the a-team, mission impossible (graves), battlestar galactica (greene, hatch), six million dollar man and bionic woman (wagner), space 1999 (landau), those were the ones i grew up with. i keep having a soft spot for those.

which does nit mean i do not appreciate the new galactica :D

05-17-2014, 08:53 PM
I'm gonna pretend you didn't say that...

The thing with classic Doctor Who is that is was staged and filmed in the same way as many of their historical dramas. Very old style. Like masterpiece with aliens. Also, they had to round out between 4-6 episodes a story. That entailed a lot of padding. They run, get caught, escape, run get caught again.....and each episode began with a recap and ended with a cliffhanger. Depending on story material and time needing to be filled, the recap could be quite long. Also, in order to write themselves out of a corner set up in the previous cliffhanger, the recap often "cheated" containing scenes NOT in the cliffhanger. :b

Honestly, the last season of True Blood was a letdown for me. I had a hard time finishing the season (watched it on dvd).

Season 2 was the best and it hasn't been as good since then imo.

Since ordering the dvd collection, I've been rewatching The X-Files. Currently on ssn 2 and it's funny seeing how bad some of the early sfx are. As much as I enjoy the mythology eps, I must say that the stand alone ones are my favorite. I just finished watching the episode "Sleepless" guest starring Tony Todd.

Also watching The Drew Carey Show ssn 1. I completely forgot how funny this show was. It's a travesty that only ssn 1 is available on dvd. Apparently future seasons would be too difficult to release because of music copyright in many of the episodes. Just too expensive.

Also found out recently that 2 Guys, a Girl and a Pizza Place isn't available on dvd/bd in the US. Used to love that show. You would think the popularity of Ryan Reynolds would allow for a release in the states.

Amanda
05-20-2014, 03:36 PM
Who????

Also...SODA!!! It's what's for breakfast.

Ok let's see. Just saw the first two episodes of Penny Dreadful. That seems to be shaping up nicely. MOST of the current tv networks have had their finales. Enjoyed Person of Interest a lot. Things definitely changing there. (remember out overseas friends who are NOT caught up yet though....), but NCIS was....ok. Really more of an tribute episode to a passed guest star, and not really integral to any story so far. NCIS la was supposed to be explosive....nooooope. Criminal Minds was Blah. "see which profiler leaves for good"....yea. After a shit ton of gunfire and several close calls...no one. I mean yea, the resign, but it isn't really even stated openly.....What else? Shield was terrific. Elementary had a nice season ending arc that shakes things up a bit...and a bit of breath holding with a final scene. Quite enjoyable. Big Bang Theory's final two this season were great. Castle was good until the end scene which was frustrating as hell, and frankly just stupid. Stupid drama to keep us hooked. Tiring. I did not watch Grey's Anatomy or Once Upon. Christina Yang is off of Gray's now. Dunno how or why. Don't care. I stopped watching Once this year, so no opinion there. Resurrection amped things up and ended on an edge, and thankfully it is returning. I have not seen the Bones Finale yet. Almost anything is possible but I don't think any big stories are working so I don't expect a lot. Will see later this week. I cannot say enough about The Blacklist. And the 2 part finale was as good as ever. Normally would be my tops, but against ALL odds, that now is for The Mentalist..Have not seen the SVU final, dunno what to expect there. The actor who is playing the temp captain has a starring role in Gotham next year so I figure he's disposable....

Aside from that are the commedies, not all of which are done. Most did not end too big, except maybe Big Bang. Depending on your definition of big. I have not watched last year's True Blood yet, and will want to before the current season. Game of Thrones is steaming into it's last three of the season which by all accounting shall entail shennanigans galore. Cosmos is wonderful, but a temp show too.So now we have TNT and such's returning summer schedule. Royal Pains, Rizzoli & Isles and Major case are all coming back. Isles will have to deal with the suicide in real life of a main actor, so that should be..interesting isn't quite the right word. Defiance will be back on SyFy. Doctor Who will have a new season (and face) this fall.It will soon be time to turn back to Netflix for Dexter, and Trek I think. They are always adding, and I have not looked for a while.

James (The Disney Guy)

Dracula was interesting but slow to build. Audiences have no patience anymore, especially on Friday nights. I would have kept watching for a while. The new Beauty and the Beast lost me after the pilot. No interest at all though it is renewed. I don't think I am watching anything on the CW. I am not watching Arrow. I was, but then got involved elsewhere and lost track. Season 1 is on Netflix, so maybe this summer. Also never saw Supernatural. Now Grimm I watched like the first 6 or 7 and was frustrated with it. Figured it was a gonner. Then apparently it got better and got renewed. Who knew? Still not watching it. Like Once Upon, I have way too many questions to sorta just "go with it", though many may have been answered by now I suppose.

Was I right about Bones? It was good at first? Ah, young interns make such creepy serial killer start-ups.....I don't think it is as good now. I am still unsure whether the Bones/Booth thing was a good move creatively. Though the wedding was beautiful. Castle and Beckkett....well. I can see it, but their wedding thus far has been all silly dramas. And The Other Couple we can't speak of yet......hmmmm.

James (The Disney Guy)

Now, JAG I have never seen oddly. I want to, since NCIS is technically a spin-off. I only started watching it like 5 or so years ago. I was in hospital (again) and they had a marathon on one of the cable channels. Coulda been the morphine but I got hooked. Ah. See, the Bones/Booth and Beckett/Castle thing are so hyped here I figure they are not news. Um, Bones gets married, but not right away. But soon (for you). I liked Zack. I mean it WAS silly, but also unexpected. Back when Bones would DO the unexpected, and was braver than your average crime procedural. I feel the stories have lost some tooth now. (Although, the intern getting sniped in the museum was a tad of a shocker....)

Ok, we're ready for the profile. The unsub is a white male, probably late 40's. Poor eyesight. Witness described a stiffness, perhaps some sort of back injury. He is withdrawn and secretive. Fairly recent past traumas have led him to be distrustful of anyone and everyone, especially in the government area. The unsub is exceptionally adept with computers and seems able to hack any system this far encountered. We speculate that despite this isolation, he may be a pet owner, likely a German Shepherd. ( :D ) As his injury limits his mobility, we feel he works with associates. Probably ex para military if accounts are to be believed. Possibly has inside access to the legal files, perhaps an informant on the NYPD? :awsm:

I want to see a CBS universal cross over event. Ya take Mentalist, NCIS, CSI, Person of Interest and Elementary and weave like a two month story across the board. Ha. Sherlock vs the all seeing machine?

Gibbs interrogating Sherlock? CSI scoping out Mr. Reese? Jane interacting with ANY of them? Jane and Gibbs alone in a room? What, two minutes? Less?

Jane and Gibbs in a room alone...wow... That would be amazing!!! Just the thought gives me a bubbly feeling. lol :D

ps. sooooo glad mentalist was renewed! Though now I'm seeing rumors of only a 13 episode season instead of the usual 22-24. :(

I think it makes sense The Mentalist is ending.

The Red John arc was pretty much the core of the series, and the post-RJ stuff has felt more or less like filler/epilogue.

Lets just hope they don't fuck up the ending by an extra few seconds at the end, like Dexter did.

With Regards To Bones I Love It But Feel You Are Correct Amanda Some Shows Do Go On A Bit And Need To End While They Are Good
Example SG1
After O'Neil Left It Shot Down Hill Don't Get Me Wrong I LIke Ben Browder In Farscape And That Dr Who Episode But He Wasn't Really Good In SG1

You See I Love Buffy But Feel S7 Was To Long Winded The Battle Was Epic But The Whole Season Was Slow

Amanda
05-22-2014, 11:36 PM
The season was a slow build, yep. And yea it was getting older. But that is reflected a bit in the writing, I think. All of the characters were fed up too, and worn out. The season is even darker and more fatalistic than the previous. So it seems more ponderous. It pays off in the end, though it is heartbreaking to see Xander lose an eye and a spouse. :( It was heartbreaking to see Spike's sacrifice. Ya know. But Faith got a nice happy.

Bones....I feel that he who;e relationship/married thing limited dramatic tension. It sorta gfelt too safe now. The finale shakes that a bit, not physically but with the legal complications that have arisen. I think they could have ended on the marriage. Castle needs to wind down too. But the finale once again keeps them apart and sets up a partner in danger thing. One that seems more far fetched than usual and is more tiresome than suspenseful.

The season finale for SVU was last night. It was pleasant enough. Completes an arc for Benson that is long coming. A nice moment for her. A return of a missed old friend. And the usual overwrought drama around the two newer detectives....

And what about Continuum, are they on some of their mysterious breaks???

Amanda
05-24-2014, 10:14 AM
I dunno. It is hard with that one. It is an import..Canadian? to Syfy and not an original series. If the original country breaks production, so it stops here. Defiance may be interesting. Another one that is promising but takes time to unfold. Patience and faith....:/

Started watching Continuum over a week ago and now I'm practically up-to-date with the latest season. I was initially skeptical when a friend told me, but once I watched the first few episodes, I was hooked. There are moments which seem old-hat and almost cringeworthy in the dialogue, but looking past this I found myself enjoying the evolving plot and just the very good ideas which the show exudes. I think maybe it's too ambitious but is a great attempt for a TV show. It suffers from Doctor Who (2005-6) itus - in the first season where the music is mixed louder than the dialogue! The camera work is good though.

I'd say if you like Bones, The X-Files, Star Trek and Doctor Who, and maybe...MAYBE... Fringe, it's a neat show and I've had the pleasure of introducing my brothers to the show which is a great feeling when you know others around you can delight and discuss a topic!

sorei

music louder than dialogue:

Received a ton of over-hype from friends about the show. It was good but not as good as they sold it. One friend said it would 'tear my heart out of my ass'. I enjoyed seeing Charles Dance and I like how characters don't over stay their welcome. I do plan on continuing with S2.

They told me despite taking place in a fantasy setting you will rarely see any fantasy, but I disagree. Characters discuss the validity of the existence of dragons and such creatures as giants, "white walkers", etc. I see these discussions as bait for anyone into fantasy and horror. The plot is very good and it is well acted and cast.

Depends.

I'm so used to people speaking fast, that it doesn't bother me that much.

With anime, or other sub series, it doesn't bother me at all.

@Sorei: Usually a dub removes the mixed audio and sometimes replaces the music altogether if they can't access the masters. Studio dubbing in different languages often results in a clarity of sound when the dialogue is more important anything else like sound effects and such.

Never seen Game of Thrones simply because despite all of the hype, all of the accolades, I've just never been into that kind of medieval fantasy kind of thing which has prevented me from even watching a Lord Of The Rings film. It just ain't my thing.

It's so hard to keep up with everything.

my Netflix is just a mess.
List upon list upon list.

Switching between Bones (season 2; catching up in chronological order now; watched seasons 5, 6 and three quarters of 7) and Community and WANT there to be Modern Family.

I even want to get back into Arrested Development.

There's still a million shows I want to watch too.
Fringe, Lost, Orange is the New Black, Supernatural, Smallville, the Killing, Lie To Me, House of Cards... There's just too much...

And actually get around to finishing Farscape.
I'm not liking the last season so much. I fell asleep through a couple episodes near the end of season 3 and didn't look back.

Dammit, why did Stargate have to end so soon?
Stargate Universe is something I need to catch up on badly! First episode so far!
And I bought the complete first season on blu-ray!!!
God!

Oh, and Friends With Better Lives was pretty funny. Typical and a rehash of a lot of shows out, but still funny.
Plus it had Van Der Beek

Also, got season 1 of Once Upon A Time on blu-ray for my dad on Father's Day.
His first time using blu-ray players.
I want to get into that series and then make way to the Alice In Wonderland spin-off.
Plus it has Robert Carlyle.

Also note OUATIW was cancelled after the one series but it does end proper no cliff hangers so a good mini series.
