My all-time favorite Pokmon game soundtrack, hands down. As soon as I discovered that this game existed, I got instantly hooked on the music, and four years later, I still find myself returning to this music with the same enthusiasm as before. The music for the first Trading Card Game installment gained a spot in many older fans' hearts, but sadly, the sequel gained few followers in comparison, as it was never released outside of Japan. Ichiro Shimakura maintains his catchy, detailed, and upbeat style for the music in the sequel, but improves (IMO) upon his previous work, creating many pieces similar to the first soundtrack and also composing some darker ones to correlate with the addition of a villainous squad in the second game. I actually ripped the music of this game a few years back with a less effective method, but needless to say, there was enough to encourage me to revisit it.
The first game's music, with the exception of the themes for the title, credits, and Imakuni?, is included in the second game. So, you'll see those themes in here as well (including the few not carried over, of course.)
I ripped this GST by running this GBS file (http://www.zophar.net/music/gbs/pokemon-trading-card-game-2-team-great-rocket-visit-.html) through gbs2gb, and then recording the tracks to WAV one by one from KiGB, reputed to have the best sound emulation among the GBC emulators. I then trimmed them in Audacity, applied some noise removal where appropriate, and rendered them to MP3 CBR 320. It's not the best of formats, but with this kind of music the audio quality should be sufficient. I could release a FLAC version if people want it, as I still have all the project files.
All in all, if you're a Pokmon fan, a fan of older VGM, or neither, I cannot recommend this soundtrack highly enough! I wanted to list some of my favorite tracks, but there are too many!
