How magnificent! These trailers are wonderful even if just for the dialogue!

Trailer 2 has the best dialogue intro, imo.

I agree! Downloading that trailer now. The files for these are huge! Not only because of the lossless files (Which are 24-Bit, 48kHz WAV), but the bitrate for the video is slightly higher than Blu-Ray. Most of these trailers are around 3-5 gigs each! Thank goodness I have a decent download speed. :P Now if only i had a better upload speed...

Someone over at Trailer News had access to the DCP formats that were used in digital theaters. Formats were available in 2K resolution and 4K.
Yes, the bitrates were overkill for BD and basic home use.

But those with projectors, they would benefit a lot from it (if their hardware supported).
The video should have a frame rate of 24fps and a resolution of 2048 858.

These video files dont go over 1080p. Which is fine with me since my hardware wouldn't be able to handle it. I wish I work in a digital projection room at a theater. That way I could get the DCP formats. I found someone online who cracked the excryption used to try and keep projectionist from ripping the video from the hard drives. If I ever do get that job, I know who to contact. ;)

I wish. While I do have access to a lot of trailers, I dont think they are as valuable as the gems that Scorepranos has provided us over the years.

Of course. I've meant to say that you're for trailer music what Scorepranos was for film music (except that you're much more willing to share).

Thanks a lot, but about your comment in the OP... Why should we say thanks to motivate you to upload more? It's your choice whether you upload or not. I agree, it's always nice to say thanks, but I'm quite sure enough people will say thanks even without that line.

He got a job that gives him exclusive access to press media with limited time access.

I actually managed to become a member of a film press site since I now work for a friend that is trying to get a film site up and running. He hired me as a article writer and a press manager, so he had me sign up for the site.

The press site has press assets for many new and upcoming film from all major studios. Most of the trailers do have multichannel tracks for each element. Although not too many have a true 5.1 or 7.1 mix. Its either stereo or multichannel for different elements. So... expect a lot of upcoming trailer stems.

He can only do trailers for movies that are coming out soon, but also with some country limitations. So foreign releases will not be likely unless an American studio decides to plan releases for it in North America (CZ12 - aka Chinese Zodiac 3D - in particular, already released in China, coming soon to North America, etc).

Movies already left the theater and hitting home release are expired for access, like with Pacific Rim.

Well thats not entirely true, but most of the time it is. I actually found 7 clips from monsters University that contain multichannel audio. Disney put them up to advertise for the upcoming Blu-Ray release. But they expire in 5 days! Gotta go ahead and download them soon!

Cool, thank you very much for these!! It's a pity you can only do it for upcoming trailers - I've been looking for ages for this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xAS-cvNKy60) trailer music, and the only thing I could find out is the company, Brand X Music, but they won't tell anything about the track...

Anyway, thanks a lot, keep them coming ;)

hack3rman, you did a MASTERFUL and seamless job on isolating the music from the dialogue from the sfx. I've always wanted to know how to do this for myself. What sound editing program do you use? Thanks in advance for any help!

He works at a place that allows him access to film trailers exactly as they appear in theaters. That means there are a lot of audio channels. For whatever reason the audio mixers split up the sound effects, dialogue, and music into separate channels S. hack3rman just has to download the trailer, extract the audio, split up the channels, and upload it here.

So, no magic programs are at work - he just has a nice job.

The closest you can do is rip the audio and do some editing.
You won't get anywhere near what studios do for these trailers. The studios have all the original assets to work with to create their "stems" and whatnot.

On our end, you'll have to grab the highest quality surround sound file and hope you can get some clean editing done.

Preferable lossless audio formats from Blu-Ray discs are:

LPCM (essentially raw WAV audio. when extracting, save as WAV instead of raw .pcm)
DTS-HD Master Audio (about the only lossless DTS format; DTS without the HD header will be the lossy "core" of the DTS stream; DTS-HDMA streams have two parts - The lossless HD (main part) and the lossy core (embedded inside for compatibility) so make sure you work with the HD part.)
Dolby TrueHD (has no embedded AC3 counterpart; must be created separately; also bit-depth is not known until scanned)

Here's three threads you should check out:
Thread 91229
http://forums.ffshrine.org/f92/how-make-complete-score-detailed-guide-84885/#post1624755
http://forums.ffshrine.org/f63/rip-audio-blu-ray-115596/#post2068521

Calidron (of the Isolated Scores thread) had posted these links as well as others so you can safely assume they are the proper channels to learn more for editing.

Also, I rubbed my nose deeply inside each thread (if I didn't create them) so you know you're going to get the most awesomest information. :smrt:

NOTE: But, please, don't call it "isolated" as this will confuse the already existing genre of "isolated scores" which is mastered in the studios and not in anyone's home with end-user software.
Use the word "edited" or "fan edit" or etc, etc.

Sparktank, if people are going to be confused, then they should be locked in a room with a dictionary pointed to the word Isolated.

Sparktank, if people are going to be confused, then they should be locked in a room with a dictionary pointed to the word Isolated.

I wish. :/

But no one likes being told what to do or what to say.

Defining "isolated" for music isn't that simple. I wish it would be.
There's a few edits here that people call "isolated" when, in fact, it's not isolated like studio developments. There's still faint remnants of sound effects and dialogue, no matter how little.

I think there should be a questionnaire to fill out before applying to the forum. And everyone should take it.
I'll grade them for prosperity and greater understanding. :smrt:
