This is another one of my Holy Grails. Finally, after some thirty four years the score for Ralph Bakshi’s "Wizards" has been released by La-La Land Records. A wonderful little ditty of an animated fantasy movie that was kind of a hip and slightly more adult "Lord of the Rings", the score by Andrew Belling is a mix of synth and orchestra. It also includes a lovely theme song "Time Will Tell" sung by someone named Susan Anton. (I don’t think it’s the same one as that awful actress of the early 80’s.)
So I just learned that is was the same Susan Anton. Nice voice.
Sorry for my misspellings in the title. It was four in the morning and I never was that good a typist in the first place.
New Link below.
Enjoy it.

And yes, it’s the same Susan Anton.
Many Thanks !!!
I always thought there were not that many people who knew or cared about this film and I was so happy when it got a special edition dvd release a couple of years ago …but I would never have guessed that anybody would ever release the really cool score.
I’m plannig to buy this one for a really good friend as a christmas present …and one for myself :o)
…but since that is still a few days away I’m very thankful for your post making it possible to hear it before I get a copy myself.

And I’ve always wanted the score for it – especially the beautiful song.
The film is basically Bakshi’s "finger exercise" before The Lord Of The Rings – featuring much of its story; and was most certainly also created to test the animation techniques (rotoscoping etc.).
The integration of Nazi propaganda films into story and animation (I’m not kidding you!) is brilliant considering that LOTR basically was the *literary* reaction to those very same people and their ideology. Tone and humour may be a bit of a problem to some though, since it’s shifting quite a lot. Oh, and don’t get me started on the ending (how Avatar defeats the villain)…
Overall, don’t expect too much, but give this one a watch if you can, it’s most certainly worth the time.
I second that, also, peejee doesn’t work very well outside the States (or at least at home 😉 )
Thanks in advance guys
A lot of thanks
can u share your score another time, please?
Thanks in advance
I need to get this on blu-ray. I was totally blown away by it.
I’d rather sit through this than Epic.
Though I’ll still watch Epic…
bakshi was so ahead of his time
I bought the DVD movie on a whim and am so happy that I did…

I’d rather watch this instead of Epic or any of the CGI animated movies nowadays. I just don’t like CGI animation, that’s all.
