Just a note, since I put all my complaints in the MP3 thread, this is more accurately an update of the soundtrack than a symphony because it doesn't blend the themes together in a symphony format (which would have six or seven tracks not 35). It is mostly performed with sample libraries (recordings of live musicians mixed together). And this is also fan-made. Still, thanks for posting FLAC.

Joypad records do get licenses for their music, so in a way, this is an official or at least endorsed release since Nintendo is being paid for this even being fan made. According to the Joypad page, releasing covers of music without licence, even for free, is illegal, at least in the U.S.

Well yeah, but there is a certain level of quality you expect from an official release called "Kanto Symphony" compared to a fan version. I doubt a fan could do Gundam Symphony anywhere near the level of Toshihiko Sahashi when he has the Tokyo Philharmonic play it. Are the two things comparable, not really, but that is why I point out it is fan made.

You are correct, this is 100% fan made. And it is not technically a symphony because of what you said. However, in Braxton's defense I would like to add that he is a college student who did all of this on a nearly nonexisting budget. The fact that we got a reorchestrated Pokemon soundtrack with themes - he mentioned several times in a Reddit AMA that he used several motifs to represent a narrative of the game - but in the style of Joe Hisaishi and other great classical composers is just wicked awesome. Are the samples totally noticeable and fake? Yeah, they are.

I have even more respect for the kid in that he realizes he is using computers as a crutch and he is currently going to college to study composing to get rid of that crutch, so that he can get a classical, formal education. That takes a lot of balls in this day and age when he could easily get praised for continuing to do what he is doing right now. He won't even touch Gold/Silver until he is well and done with his education.

The author could have added the word "synthesizer" or "upgrade" like the Japanese arrangers used to in the late 80's, it would have avoided the complaints, maybe the word "Reorchestrated" was a little too much, I still have to listen to it, though. I simply put that info because I thought it was weird for a Fan Musician to charge for it and got the information about it.

It's good to know that, a lot of these Fan Musicians never evolve *cough*OCR*cough*, excuse me.

Can't believe I paid $10 for this. I understand Skotein's need for it to be original, but a lot of the tracks are just plain bad. The sound quality is top notch, but I didn't like his artistic direction with this one.
