What is the most important part of a game? What makes a good game good?
Above all I believe its good characters and how they are intergrated into the story.

What do you think? Is it gameplay, graphics, the villian, or something else? I know they are all important but what do you hold above all else?

Rules, you HAVE to pick favorites, don't give me a multi-anwser

You can't have a good game unless you have all aspects. As for the most important I'd say it's story and gameplay. Most people would most likely say graphics but they're the ones who play sports game, or the Xbox.

lol im totally with you on the graphics. I know someone who wouldn't play VII because of the graphics. That made be angry.

Gameplay obviously. If the game does not control well or is boring to play... nobody is going to play it.

Graphics are also a big part for me because I just can't be staring at something that looks ugly the whole time.

Story and Characters are fine, but if I cared a lot about that, i would just read a book or watch a movie.

Above all, gameplay. Story isn't necessarily important, unless it's an RPG/MGS style game we're talking about. In which case, a good story is essential. Otherwise, I can take it or leave it. Graphics aren't important, with few exceptions. But basically, they are games, interactivity is what makes them different from other media, and gameplay is obviously the most important factor.
