Ladies and Gentlemen,

It’s been a long wait, but soon, Punchout, THE Nintendo boxing game will be making its triumphant return on the Wii.

http://www.gametrailers.com/player/40745.html

If the Trailer is any indication, this game should be quite awesome.

knew it while ago, in a list of upcoming games.

what did surprise was an afro samurai game, which was supposedly exclusive to 360/ps3.

knew it while ago, in a list of upcoming games.

Given that it was officially announced October 2nd, I figure most people know about it.

Can’t say I’m that excited, as I’ve never played a punchout.

…also, where’s Kid Icarus and Star Tropics? And Punchout minus Mike Tyson’s Chicken = fail.

There’s been rumors of Factor 5 working on a new Kid Icarus game since May. Besides producing a bunch of concept art for the game, not much has been mentioned. Both Star Tropics and Pilotwings are still in gaming limbo I’m afraid.

Now for the "I knew about it a while ago" comments. I know it was announced in October, and some of you may not be interested in the game. That’s fine. That’s not why I made this thread though. You see, Punchout happens to be a favorite of mine, way back when I was in single digits.

So, when I see actual progress made to bringing back said favorite of mine, I decided to make this thread (which none existed before) to inform more casual gamers who may have not known that it was coming out, and those new gamers who will say "Punchout? what the fuck is that game?" and then look at the link and then decide that they like it and look more into the series, or think it’s a load of crap and move on. In any case, my job will have been completed and the Rejoicing could begin. yay.

I’m happy for those who are happy about the punchout announcement and think that it’s great that they’re getting a franchise they like updated. If I came across otherwise, I’m sorry. 😀

No need to apologize Wattson. I wasn’t thinking you were being a jerk or anything, It just seemed like I needed to explain my attentions more since it seemed like I was coming of like an obsessed fanboy or something. I’m not, of course, I just enjoy playing the series and I am pleased that there will be another one made since it has always been a fun game series to play.

Also Swami, to answer your question, you must look up the meaning of "Hawaiian Time". Then, the answer you seek will be revealed to you…

Ass…. 😀

If this game is anything like the original then we should be expecting 15 minutes gameplay.

They better retain the "nigga stole my bike" song.

Well, if the game trailer is any indication, the song will be in there. You do make a good point though Marvin. They need to find a way to really expand on the game or this will be a short game. The fact that this isn’t a download game makes me think that they have something in mind to address the play time issue.

As a side note: does anyone remeber playing Punchout in the Arcades?

I wish! The earliest game I remember playing in the arcades was Altered Beast. That game needs a next-gen remake.

There was one on PS2.

It sucked balls.
