Hey, I just thought I'd jump on the Inception edit bandwagon, and post my edit! There just don't seem to be enough edits out there, so I thought I might contribute what I've thrown together. I have taken the original score and arranged it into film order, but I have also added in clips from the Blu-Ray bonus features--also into film order. Now, when I say clips, I really mean clips. Most of them are only around a minute long and several have been shortened/remixed from how they are heard in the movie (not by my doing; that's just how they appear on the bonus features). Remember, this is not the complete score, it's just about all of the material one person could put together without having to start using DVD audio and cluttering the whole thing up with pesky SFX. There is one large piece of SFX-free stuff that wasn't included on this (the fight in the hotel hallway when there's zero gravity) because the whole intro of the cue is missing (among other parts) and I didn't want to include anything with SFX in it. I also just realized I could have included the three tracks posted by Lorne Balfe on his website.

MP3 320kbps | 30 Tracks | Length: 1:52:38 | 266 MB | Expanded/No SFX/Better than what was posted on a blog that will not be named since I'm not advertising it as whatever the hell "demo recording sessions" are which weirdly included SFX in some tracks and a style of editing that caused my ears to bleed.

So far, it's really great. Thank you very much. Can I ask you something though? Did you use your own sounds to possibly complete or edit some of the tracks so that the music is flowing nicely? I might have to see the movie again but I just figured I'd ask you first :) But still, thank you very much, love it...

Edit PS: Didn't see the clips from the Exclusive features disc but wanted to ask anyway... (about your own sources/sounds)

Ok, sorry my English is not so good. I wanted to ask you if you edited the parts that had too much sfx, with your own sounds (drums, chello, violin, electronic sounds etc.) that you have in your library. Because I feel like I've not heard some parts of the tracks in the movie. But it is true that I haven't seen the movie in a while so I might be wrong. I hope I asked correctly this time around :) Thank you for your time.

@matroxxx: it sounds like you don't know much about DVD audio extracting. I did not use any tools to add in my own instruments. The bonus features of the Blu-Ray have music playing in the background and absolutely no SFX. That's where the expanded material is coming from. I can explain it in more depth later if you're still having trouble understanding.

Okay, just downloaded and saw the tracklisting.

Would have preferred that the Junkie XL remix and the OST versions were removed from this expanded score since most of us probably already have it!

Giving it a listen now.

The Dimensioner
03-16-2012, 01:44 PM
Huh...so you're telling me that would have rather preferred something that was only 11 tracks long (just about 31 minutes as opposed to the OST, itself, clocking in at 49 minutes not including the two bonus tracks) consisting of around 8 tracks that were barely longer than a minute? You probably don't understand what expanded score means, do you? An expanded score gets expanded by building or adding new material on top of existing material.

Had I included only 11 tracks, we'd be looking at something worse than what Mark G. gave us--not to mention, everyone would probably be thinking, "WTF, I thought Dimensioner could do more than this." Alternatively, I suppose I would be providing you with an alternative score like what darth2602 has recently uploaded for Transformers. But whatever you say: feel free to remove the soundtrack versions leaving yourself with a bunch of random incomplete cues and without the biggest highlights of the score.

@ScoreDude1985: keep in mind that I did not use any DVD audio, per se, for this edit. The expanded material originated from a source that had no SFX in it to begin with. It is highly unlikely that any regular movie could be ripped absolutely SFX-free. Also keep in mind this phenomenon that I've been encountering recently: people have asked me how I was able to rip a track so cleanly. They tried using the DVD audio extractor and came out with something cluttered with SFX. Well, so did I: remember that everyone doing a DVD rip for the same movie starts with the same audio. It's just how you edit that audio that makes all the difference.

I've seen your conversations on that Spider-Man film edits: Thread 110672. What's stopping you from taking material that you have in a clean form and just editing it to line it up with the film versions? Or are we talking about "The film version has different instrument overlays than the soundtrack version"? In any case, be sure to read through the link DAKoftheOTA has provided. It should help you greatly.

talent
03-16-2012, 11:02 PM
That's right. I'd rather have the OSV (original sound version) rather than an OSV + OST interpersed between one another since most of us in this thread already have the OST.

Appreciate the work though! Don't get me wrong!

There is not much to update. Could you clarify a bit on the descriptions you put in quotes? Doing that sort of makes them look like official track titles from somewhere else. I mentioned in my first post that the zero-gravity fight was not included due its incompleteness on the bonus features audio. Most of the second half of the cue is there, but the first half is spotty, and that stretch of DVD audio has some of the most annoying non-removable SFX in it.

But could you go into more detail about the "suggestions" in quotes? If it's not available totally SFX-free then it won't be on this set of music.

mm5
04-03-2012, 02:38 PM
I like your point of thinking The Dimensioner - we all in here have enough releases with SFX on it (also with poor quality), so absolute priority should be the release of music without any effects. If it's not removable - just do not put it.

JaasenJones
04-05-2012, 04:48 AM
I was thinking you might update new stuff next to what you already had, then I saw you were only dealing with SFX free audio. I spoke too soon, and I apologize. Personally if I have to deal with some SFX in all the scores I have, it does not matter much to me, just because I will take what I can get these days. I had to do that for years with Dead Man's Chest, before I stumbled on your edit of it. "The final kick" was when Fischer first walks into the vault and sees his father, and ends when the crew wakes up in the underwater van. "When the van hits the water" is the film version of "Don't think about elephants" and in my opinion one of the most superior parts of the film score. I don't suppose you have done another edit of Inception, or know of any somewhat tolerable edit of it?

We'll see...Please note, that Intrada is releasing a lot of complete scores for quite some time, so who knows what they're gonna do in the near future. For now, they concentrate on classics mostly, but at least we all just might have hope.

The Dimensioner
04-05-2012, 01:33 PM
Yeah...that is kind of a weird thought to have. And all of those specialty labels seem to keep releasing scores that are many decades old (correct me if I'm uninformed). So, sure, I could see something getting released for Inception maybe by the year 2030, but why do you bring that up now? I mean, why wouldn't anyone be stating this thought about any of Hans Zimmer's (or RCP's) other scores from the past 10, or heck 20, years?

The Dimensioner

That's not very specific. It's not "Don't Think About Elephants", one of the bonus tracks, is it? This rip certainly is expanded and is totally SFX-free. If you read earlier discussions, you'll see that I left out only one cue because of its incompleteness, as well as the cues from Lorne Balfe's website. Otherwise, this is the largest 100% SFX-free edit out there.

As my policy, I am not re-uploading this edit, but if someone else who has it wants to help out here, that would be nice.

Its an extended version of Dream Witihin a Dream, only the original soundtrack missed out the first 1 min of it :)

That is on Lorne Balfe's website. It is titled "528491" and features, first, a slightly differently orchestrated version of the OST track "528491", and then it blends into what would be the climax of the movie, when the dream is collapsing. The second half of that track is what you seek, I hope (although it is missing the "Non, je ne regrette rien" overlays).

EDIT: now that I am rereading your post, it feels like I've just found the opposite of what you're looking for, or else I am interpreting your post backwards...

Does this match your track list? Download Score: Inception (Complete Demo Recording) (http://downloadscoresession.blogspot.com/2012/01/inception-complete-demo-recording.html) Your version likely has fake-ass slate numbers attached to it. And see here for more information: Thread 97389, and here as well: Thread 97425 If your 38-track version also features the same track lists, read the following:

Keep calm and for the love of God, don't discuss this at all and please do not upload it. You can read up and down like the ten most recent topics here: Hans-Zimmer.com - Inception (http://hans-zimmer.com/index.php?rub=disco&id=927), and see that what you have is a fake. Or you can visit this thread: Thread 96411, which covers the origins of the score you completely randomly found.

This is the edit that I am speaking about when I said
Better than what was posted on a blog that will not be named since I'm not advertising it as whatever the hell "demo recording sessions" are which weirdly included SFX in some tracks and a style of editing that caused my ears to bleed. in my opening post. Sorry--I just don't want you new people getting any idea that you've just happened across the "complete demo recording sessions from Inception". The short reply is... NO. THis is a valid link and I've just downloaded the file.

You messaged me that...

"It just links me to a adf.ly/locked/null link everytime I hit the download button..."

This is true, but it is just an advert... eventually it displays "SKIP AD" in the top right corner which if you click, it then progresses to the real download link.

Alternatively, you can install Jdownloader. This works too, I just tried it, and downloaded the file for a second time. It navigates around obstacles like this.

This maybe of great interest to you Dimensioner - read the bit about 'Inception' further down the page - Our Work - Instrumental Creation, Music Isolation (http://www.audionamix.com/credits/index.php#2)

not on my end...

"All download slots for this file are currently filled.
Please try again momentarily."

i guess i'll have to do that "momentarily" thing...

Yes, it's alternating between that message and downloading.

Hey, I just thought I'd jump on the Inception edit bandwagon, and post my edit! There just don't seem to be enough edits out there, so I thought I might contribute what I've thrown together.

Little did we know that you'd be eating those words if the original post wasn't intended as sarcasm. How many different edits are there now?

The original post was absolutely meant as sarcasm. I wonder if you're the first one to recognize that. If you want to know how many edits there are, look no further than here: Thread 113369 Of course, that thread does not include the endless crappy edits on YouTube or that fake one that someone is selling on eBay (because nobody has posted it here--and nobody needs to).

I'm just curious to know what is on that CD but everyone has informed me countless times that it's a fake so I guess that curiosity will go unheeded. I'm certainly not shelling out money to find out.

Parts of the edit in this thread are what can be found on it. Otherwise, it's a coincidence of astronomical proportions that some guy is making money off of something that just so happens to have tracks that are the same in both name and length as what can be found in my set. Everything else is just fluff. If you want, I can find the post I made a while back about what that thing on eBay likely contains.

Probably best to just hold off until the real thing comes. Some people have it, and it won't be long before its posted here

This is getting to be very tedious, with re-uploads lasting barely 2 weeks. Do not expect this to be re-uploaded again for some considerable time...

Download sec env d399 rar (http://filewinds.com/vqxf0i90q2q3/sec.env.d399.rar.html)

Password: Orion999

The file within retains the original password ( PASIV )

I really appreciate it. I'd be happy to re-upload it if it goes down and someone needs it, unless Dimensioner says otherwise.

I'm sorry to be pessimistic, but is this really true? I mean, it's been three years. I highly doubt someone has it, but I'm really hopeful.
