This is an album made from the two NHK broadcast recordings of their SYMPHONIC GAMERS & SYMPHONIC GAMERS 2 concerts performed by JAGMO, one of the worlds first orchestras dedicated exclusivly to Games and Anime.

This is as close to a real album release as we will probably get. Give a rep to nextday for delivering the music in very good quality, just a day after the broadcast and saving me much paperwork in giving credit. It certainly trumps the youtube videos in terms of sound quality. Symphonic Gamers 2 is in many ways more of the same. So if you love the first concert, you will certainly love the second. My favorites, without question from both performances are Zelda, Donkey Kong Country 2 and especially "Mario goes Tom & Jerry" by Fukasawa. This is massive fun with a good degree of class, from both the performance side and the listener side. No cheering to be found here. The recording quality is also good for a change. I did amplify it but its nowhere near the impossible undertaking as the LQ Touhou recording. In any case, this makes me smile. This concert series will certainly become an annual event so look forward to next year 😉 Until then, enjoy this quite spectacular music.

And a bit of trivia. Donkey Kong Country 2 was brought to David Wise’s attention very quickly and he is quite shocked to say the least…

EDIT: Monster Hunter and Chrono Trigger had a windows system sounds interupting. I edited them out (should not be noticeable anymore) and also reuploaded in MP3 considering the source is not lossless.

I really love the inclusion of "The Forest Temple" in the Zelda medley and "Dire Dire Docks" in the Mario medley. You never hear those pieces in the usual orchestra concerts.

Aside from that, I’d say the highlights of this concert are DKC2 and Suikoden II.

Woah I had no idea what this was till just now awesome stuff.

At 5:23 in the Chrono Trigger medley you can hear a Windows sound.. Looks like someone screwed something up

I guess that your source for the 1st concert had system sounds turned on when they recorded it. I have made that mistake in the past.

Btw, you should re-upload in MP3. FLAC is wholly unnecessary considering the bitrate of the source.

Yeah, its just that I always edit in FLAC and its so standard these days that I almost never convert into something else. Btw I fixed it.

Why did you reupload in mp3? If the source was already not lossless, wouldn’t the conversion to mp3 damage its quality even more? Don’t get me wrong I’m very grateful for your hard work, but it seems like a poor choice to compress something that was already compressed.

The loss of quality is minuscule and a lossless encoding would needlessly bloat the file size, especially with such a low quality (comparatively) source.

A flac version; please ?
