Right now I have a ton of music that’s mostly stored in iTunes, and some in foobar. Every game is a separate playlist in iTunes, which has worked well for many years. In foobar the layout for many playlists is terrible, it all conglomerates on the top bar in an ugly mess.

However, iTunes is becoming sluggish, doesn’t play FLAC, and I don’t care about the store or many of its new features (and it has a horrible bug playing 32KHz songs), so I would like to switch soon. I’ve yet to find a nice alternative; the most similar to iTunes I’ve come across is Tomahawk (https://www.tomahawk-player.org/), but I’d have to export/re-import every single playlist from iTunes into Tomahawk, and there’s probably a couple hundred of them.

How do you guys store your tracks for quick browsing and listening?

I don’t understand. what is the Reason to make a single Playlist for every Game ?

Please elaborate. I am not trolling btw, just trying to find out how to approach
improving your Foobar Enjoyment, since there really isn’t a better Audio Player out there.

Usually when I listen to music, I’ll pick a soundtrack to listen to. Playlists are a way to look at a list and find a game. What’s the alternative, album tags?

Also not trying to be rude at all, perhaps my habits seem completely alien to the world! I’ve never known any other life, but I’m open to learning.

You aren’t rude

Yeah, Tags would have been my Suggestion…

Well my Method is :

I have a VGM Folder that currently has 2.658 Albums, each being a Subfolder,
which Foobar is monitoring via Library>Configure>Music Folders>Add

Works for multiple Root Folders, too…

Once Foobar has scanned the Contents of the Folder(s), it will keep track
of all Changes and Additions made to the Folder(s) in Realtime.

Library>Album List will then put the entire watched Music into the Playlist
Window, where you can sort them by Artist, Album Name, Title, Length, etc.

When you wanna listen to a specific Album you pull up the Search function
and queue all the Tracks.

Also my Foobar should look vastly different from yours, which probably
is a big Factor in the Ease of Use…

I see, interesting. But if you’re looking for a cool soundtrack, doesn’t that mean having to scroll through every single song? Seems like you’d scroll way past games by mistake and miss them.
