Williams recorded cues for the trailers to the film (a rarity, for a film’s composer to have material so early!). I don’t know about the three cues recorded for the first official trailer ("Trailer 2", "Trailer 2 Intro", and "New Trailer Intro"), but the music for the teaser ("MX 8 & 10") has been lost, and, unless they leaked with the rest of the sessions and no one told me, I doubt I’ll ever get the other three tracks, assuming those aren’t lost as well. My point is that the trailer music definitely isn’t just tracked from the film’s actual score.

So… does anyone know if any of the trailers for this film were mixed in true 5.1? My DVD copies of a couple HP films have them in Dolby Surround Stereo, which is bullshit surround sound. But the Ultimate Edition has an impressive assortment of trailers for the film; does anyone own it? And can you tell me if the videos are encoded with 5.1 audio? I’d love to have a chance to see if I could edit out the SFX.

The leaked sessions were complete (as in, no tracks were kept for trading only). I do have the UEs but think all the trailers are in stereo. I also just do not get why people never mocked up any of these cues (or for HP2 or 3). There are lots of mockups available from released cues so you’d think someone would do unreleased stuff… Laziness…

What’s missing from HP2, except for the tracked stuff (and ‘Ransacked Dormitory’)? Anything?

If you ever get a chance sometime I’d appreciate it if you could double-check those trailers. 🙂

I will look at the trailers this evening. Ransacked Dormitory might be tracked to. The only new part is the very ending, the low note, but even that might have been faked. I was referring to HP3 about mockups, we’ve got the sheet music so…

According to the film’s music summary sheets it was not a tracked cue. But it’s possible that that was changed at the last minute along with "Harry is a Parselmouth".

They ‘faked’ a couple things in the film, like altering the pitch of certain parts of tracked cues.

The first part of ‘Ransacked’ is of course a re-use of the ‘Running to McGonagall’ theme, but I didn’t recognize the rest.

The Oboe/English horn part comes from the first chess cue.

Of course! I should have recognized it.

Sadly, the trailers are in stereo. Not surprsing though.

Rats! Thanks for checking though.
