Hi guys,
the last couple of days I’ve been working on a version of the GotG score which includes the film versions of the tracks included on the OST (without EQing, but edited to have the same arrangement etc), cuts off all the annoying seconds between tracks from the Sessions, replaces the few tracks from the Sessions which sound absolutely horrible (Kyln Escape Stereo Mixes) with versions from the Score release, and replaces the few tracks which are actually more similar to the film versions with the Score release versions.
I also sorted out the tracks from the Sessions and Score release which weren’t actually used in the movie, or are alternates, and put them at the end of this whole release.
I didn’t include the "Mad Scene" from the Broker’s place, because I couldn’t find a flac version of it (I found a DVDR though), and I don’t really care for it. I might include it in v2 if there’s any interest. I did find a place where you can buy the specific track, but I don’t exactly know which one, and you need a credit card for it, which I don’t have.
Here’s a screenshot of the Ableton project which has been created (and tortured) during this process, just to give you a brief overview of how much freakin’ work this was:
Of course I didn’t use the compressed-to-hell versions of the tracks from the first CD of the OST, but I spent half a day tracking down all the tracks from various sources on the internet. The entire collection is COMPLETELY and 100% lossless (unless the Sessions weren’t). Even the few pieces I ripped from the film audio itself (the Marvel Logo from TWS, the end of "Come Get Your Love", the end of "I Want You Back", and of course the end credits) have been properly ripped with eac3to and the good ol’ Arcsoft DTS Decoder from the DTS-HD MA 7.1 tracks.
The film versions of the OST tracks aren’t exactly film versions at the intro and outro sometimes, because they end or start with the walkman being started, end with somebody being hit over the head with a vegetable or something. I also included Chris Pratt’s voice in "Ooh Child" at the end. If you want me to add an alternate version without it, let me know.
Oh, and one more thing: A friend of mine and me created a stereo version of "Ain’t No Mountain High Enough" similar to the one in the movie using the multitracks. The track itself is mono, as are each of the stems, but if you pan some right and some left it’ll have a nice stereo effect (this principle has been used commonly in the past to create stereo versions of mono tracks).

Update!
v1.4.1 is out.
1.4.1: Final version for now. Until I get around to fix up the Mad Scene. Only thing changed is Ain’t No Mountain High Enough: new master which sounds way better. OST version here: Thread 200336
1.4: Had this in the pipeline for a good long while (embarassingly long … 09/2015 :P), still not 100% happy – 1.4.1 will soon follow, still working on something. Here’s what’s different in this one:
– Don’t Mess With My Walkman moved to proper position
– Moonage Daydream now starts from the beginning (it gets split up in the movie, I just included it to the point where it fades out)
– Escape Song now sounds more like film version due to me actually using parts of the Album version this time around
To come in 1.4.1: Better sounding version of Ain’t No Mountains. This will coincide with a release of the full versions of the Awesome Mix using the versions of the songs I used for this Complete Score.
1.3.1: -2db on Spirit in the Sky.
1.3: Changed "Logo" title to "Marvel Fanfare". Replaced Brian Tyler version with the Tyler Bates version from the movie by splicing the beginning and end of them. Added "Spirit In The Sky" used in Trailer #2, arrangement similar to version used in trailer.
1.2: Different outro for Hooked On A Feeling. Fixed tag title for 7m06ins. Fixed file names for tracks past the End Credits.
1.1: Includes fixed volume levels on most of the Awesome Mix tracks, and a new mix and master (done by a friend of mine) of Ain’t No Mountain High enough. Should be final for now 🙂

Did you check out my Deluxe Edition? The main thing I could’ve done different on it was to better level out the songs in between the score cues.

Thanks! You can take out the "Ultimate" if you wish, though, since I just put that in the title to differentiate it from previous versions 🙂
Edit: Updated! Redownload and enjoy 🙂
Why not include this version of the Marvel Logo though?
Why not include this version of the Marvel Logo though?
Because I wouldn’t be able to do so without SFX or awkward fading. The versions sound quite different (the GotG one is "heavier"), so that probably wouldn’t sound very nice. Since a lot of the Bates cues sound different in mix and arrangement compared to the film version, I just included the TWS one.
Update v1.2 is out 🙂

I, also, came up with different names for the tracks:
"6m07 Z.StereoMix" should be "Eat Your Heart Out, Hawkeye"
"6m08 Z.StereoMix" should be "Standing Up For What Is Right"
"7m03 Z.StereoMix" should be "Not Dead"
"7m06 Z.StereoMix" should be "Still Not Dead Yet"
"3m10 Z.StereoMix (Unused)" should be "A Great Companion (Unused 2)"
"4m07 Z.StereoMix (Unused)" should be "I Didn’t Ask To Get Made (Unused)"
"5m07 Z.StereoMix (Unused)" should be "Attention, Idiots (Unused)"
Also, "Kyln Escape" has a film version in the sessions and the "Don’t Mess With My Walkman" track is used.
Other than that, I love how you took your time into creating the ultimate complete score. I’m looking forward to your updates. We still need that score of Ronan in the Kyln and Ronan using the Power Stone.
Where is Don’t Mess With My Walkman used? I checked the entire parts and couldn’t hear it for the life of me.
I used the OST version for the Z.StereoMixes of the Kyln Escape, because the StereoMixes were brutally brickwalled and sounded horrible. Plus the OST version has everything the z.stereomixes have and is just not split up into several cues.
Here’s the sessions version: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/11747472/zstereomix_distort.mp3

Listen to it with headphones, it sounds horrible.
Yeah, I noticed that some pieces were entirely missing (or are completely different in most parts, like Ronan’s Theme or Sanctuary). Another missing cue is the one where he unpacks the Awesome Mix Vol. 2 at the end (it’s a reprise of A Mother’s Farewell / Losers). One other cue was missing which I was able to reconstruct, I called it "Gamora and Quill", when they talk while waiting for the Collector. It was just a 1:1 cut of the beginning of A Mother’s Farewell (okay, not 1:1 – the movie version is a bit faster but I didn’t want to timestretch so I just left it at its original speed).
Thanks for the titles, I might include them, although I kind of like the Z.StereoMixes everywhere … no idea why 😛

Dear god, that distortion. What’s different there, just the mix or also the arrangement?
The password, hahahaha.

Just replace the old version with that.
The friend who’s helping me with this and I just don’t seem to find the time to really work on it. The drumming needs to be more pronounced, for exampl.
When that’s done I will also release a version of the Awesome Mix with the tracks I hunted down for this version – they sound so much better than the shitty remasters on the OST.
eac3to is updated to use dcadec for any 7.1 mix (by default as of 3.29)
This movie, luckily, doesn’t use "strange setup" for the 7.1 mix.
But, dcadec will be taking over as Arcsoft quit with TMT updates.
DCAdec can’t do DTS Express, though, so Arcsoft is required for any DTS Express stream.
I only recently thought of updating eac3to 😛
So, dcadec actually properly decodes DTS-HD MA? Might try that soon, maybe it’s faster than Arcsoft.

Strange setup isn’t always easy to fix.
In cases like the Remastered "Se7en" film, the upmixed 7.1 is "strange setup", so Arcsoft will apply a -3dB gain to prevent clipping.
But there is something wrong with their code and that special mix of the film. The negative gain cannot be fixed by applying a positive gain.
There is some sort of bug that applies a dynamic gain throughout the audio and it destructs audio as some areas have gain and there is still clipping but other areas sound normal.
These errors cannot be fixed.
It’s been observed multiple times in the doom9 forums where eac3to is developed but since it was Arcsoft problem, no one can work with it.
dcadec is bit-accurate. It’s not that much faster.
But it should be used instead of Arcsoft, unless it is DTS-Express format.
I can’t remember the reason behind the speed issues, but it doesn’t look like there will be any multi-threading any time soon for eac3to.
Even source code for dcadec doesn’t implement threading. I think even the highest instruction set available is still SSE2 (since for all available operations with dcadec, there is minimal speed bost using AVX instruction set, maybe AVX2/AVX-512 would benefit but only those two sets).

eac3to v3.29 released
* added libDcaDec decoder for DTS decoding, new default for 7.x tracks
* fixed: #086: left/right eye information was inverted in some 3D Blu-Rays
* fixed: #263: decoding TrueHD Atmos with active dialnorm information failed
* fixed: #264: using "-float32 -normalize" didn’t work in all cases
eac3to v3.28 released
* fixed: #001: different number of frames for left and right eye
* fixed: #061: valid silence edit was sometimes rejected
* fixed: #067: error messages were not available to GUIs
* fixed: #086: left/right eye information was inverted in some 3D Blu-Rays
* fixed: #131: TrueHD Atmos streams could not be demuxed or decoded
* fixed: #243: ArcSoft DTS decoder crash made eac3to crash, too
* downStereo: added 0.7071 factor for surround/back channels (ITU-R BS.775-3)
* downStereo/Dpl: using 0.5 instead of 0.7071 factor for LFE (ITU-R BS.775-3)
And if you use eacto to downmix, the parameters have changed.
Thor 2’s OST is practically unusable due to LOUDNESS … and I don’t even want to start on Iron Man 1 and 2. 2 is a clusterfuck of the highest order score version wise. I did a small edit for a track on #3 – Domestic Disturbance. I think I posted it in the sessions thread.
Thanks for the feedback in any case, I really appreciate it 🙂
Oh, I disagree. IM1 is a clusterfuck of the highest level. See this failure of a project as proof. (Thread 185998)
Enjoy!
