Added Golden Axe (Genesis), Golden Axe (Sega CD), Golden Axe II (Genesis), Golden Axe III (Genesis), The Legendary Axe (TurboGrafx-16), Legendary Axe II (TurboGrafx-16)
5-25-14: From this point onward, I will be maintaining all links in this single list. All Individual soundtrack pages will feature a link to this thread, meaning I only need to edit this one list rather than each page individually. (With 130+ pages, you can see my problem…)
Can I ask, of what you have on this list, what are some of your favorites?

I love the sound of the Genesis, which is one reason why so many of my rips are from that console. Personal favorites: Midnight Resistance, Thunder Force IV (Lightening Force), Zero Wing, Gauntlet IV, Ys III, Superman, Castlevania Bloodlines, Herzog Zwei, Elemental Master, Dangerous Seed, Alien Soldier. For the NES: Power Blade, Blaster Master, Contra, Super C, Gradius II, Gremlins II. Also, I just added Soldier Blade for the TG16, which is a very nice one.
I very much hope with every fiber of my being that you are still planning Mega Man 3~6.
And since you are doing SNES now, Mega Man 7 would be awesome, if it’s even possible. It’s only two official releases are screwed up (one is plagued with sound effects and looping errors, and it’s very likely the other release on the Rockcan E-can uses emulation).
Also, needs more NES Tim Follin! :p
I miss your incredible work! 🙂
Your rips are the best in the world with 16-bit audiophile too!
I wish you would upload more Genesis rips! (T_T)

It’s only been about a month since his last uploads. Give him a break. It’s pretty insane that he’s done as much as he has, in such a short time.
Maybe if we get together and pool our money, we can pay him to do this as a full time job. 😛
And my vote would go toward more NES or SNES. I think he’s done enough of robot fart Genesis dissonance for now. 😛 (Come at me!)

The kind words are appreciated. My output has fallen over the past 10 months or so; been dealing with real world things, and taking time to actually play some games. I haven’t given up the audio recording; I’ll still do some rips as time permits. 🙂
There is a mod for the Mega Drive model 1 to directly throw stereo sound to the rear DIN plug. Originally only mono audio comes from there.
Also, do you plan to capture audio from other systems ?
keep up the good work.
Eric
I think he kind of does, if he has enough interest in the game you request. I’m not sure if a couple of my earlier requests were fulfilled, or if he was just planning on doing those games anyway. Either way, it can’t hurt to tell him your requests. ;p Off the top of my head, my most wanted are:
NES__________
– Mega Man 3
– Mega Man 4
– Mega Man 5
– Mega Man 6
– Dr. Mario
– Gimmick!
– Ninja Gaiden II
– Ninja Gaiden III
– Mother / Earthbound Zero
– The Smurfs (but I know you said you couldn’t properly do this one without a modded PAL NES, or some such.)
– Asterix (but I know you said you couldn’t properly do this one without a modded PAL NES, or some such.)
SNES__________
– Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV: Turtles in Time
– Mega Man 7
– Mega Man Soccer
– Mother 2 / Earthbound
– Rockman & Forte
Little Nemo The Dream Master
Double Dragon I & II
I would like to ask tho on the case of Requests provided you have the games for it, Could you please upload.
(TG-16) Blazing Lazers.
(TG-16) City Hunter.
(SNES) Wild Guns.
(NES) Darkwing Duck.
(NES) Duck Tales 1 & 2.
(NES) Panic Restaurant.
(NES) Gargoyles Quest 2.
(NES) Mighty Final Fight.
OK That was a-lot My apologies, thanks anyways.

I don’t dig the new avatar, though. Far too Satanic for my tastes. 🙁
You may want to make your own link thread here eventually: Gravitrek Discovery – Index page (http://www.gravitrek.com/forum/index.php) . If you haven’t been paying attention to the board recently: After another "ffshrine needs donations" lockdown, a few forum users dug up some shady evidence surrounding the ffshrine owner and said frequent donation lockdowns, and now many have decided to splinter off and form another music sharing board community, just in case.
You’re just jealous of my muscular physique, goatish good looks, and Gene Simmons-like tongue. http://i1016.photobucket.com/albums/af283/t_swager/GIF/goatgrin-1.gif

and maybe some other games. But I think we need more NES and SNES soundtracks.
Introducing the Mega Amp – The universal Genesis audio circuit (http://www.sega-16.com/forum/showthread.php?26568-Introducing-the-Mega-Amp-The-universal-Genesis-audio-circuit)
and maybe some other games. But I think we need more NES and SNES soundtracks.
I agree. Enough Genesis for now. Sheesh.
Compared to the other represented systems? Yes, there’s enough.
its games collection if really huge and interesting.
Not any more than NES, SNES, and GB/C. Looking at the size of their complete ROMs collection (without different region doubles, bootlegs, etc), the Genesis isn’t anything special in that regard.
That’s complete BS. The majority of the Lossless Thread is made up of third-party multi-platform games with streaming audio. Even most of the older stuff is PS1/PS2/PS3/Xbox/360/PC/Arcade stuff. That’s true outside of the Lossless thread as well. Just take a look through the first few pages of the forum.
And presonally i think that The Iron Goat did amazing job with genesis soundtracks. It isnt easy to obtain good quality stereo sound from into the genesis, and he did it.
Now I don’t mind more genesis games in this thread and honestly I think the genesis music is good and pretty interesting but there is way too many genesis soundtracks
here compared to the other systems like the NES, SNES, GB, Sega CD, PC, PS1, and TG16. Those are the systems that need more attention.
edit: also, I doubt you can gain much from recording PS1 or Sega CD. Digital audio. Even SNES is sample-based rather than FM and it has a pretty poor DAC. The Genesis model 1 uses a Yamaha FM chip and has a unique analog-sounding output stage, PLUS is pretty poorly emulated (with lack of bass and mismatched volume levels of the PSG channel, plus other anomalies).
Also, recording PC? Maybe if it uses FM from Adlib or Soundblaster cards. Recording audio from your soundcard that’s already exists in a digital audio file you can listen to right off the CD or installation is pointless, is all I’m trying to say.
This site is pretty great for PC Roland MT32 and Roland SC-55 soundtracks (recorded from real hardware): http://rmla.co.nr/
No, it’s not. A fact is not a super exaggerated statistic that you pull from thin air with nothing to prove it.
For example the lossless thread 99% are nintendo soundtracks. I am really tired of that.it.
You’ve already said that, and I specifically told you that you’re wrong. I just took a count of uploads through the latest thirty pages (plus a few dozen random pages) of the Lossless Thread, and Nintendo specific uploads don’t even make up 25%. Whatever the percentage actually is, it sure as hell isn’t anywhere near "99%".
Give some proof or stop talking non-sense. Thanks.
In any case, Goat has said previously that the Genesis is his favorite console, so I’m sure he’s going to do more.
…or maybe you shouldn’t dictate/demand what priority Iron Goat places his rips? You don’t pay him.
Uh, nobody’s dictating or demanding anything. We’re begging. :p
edit: also, I doubt you can gain much from recording PS1
There are some PS1 games that have sequenced music which use special custom drivers that have very incomplete or no official soundtrack releases. It would be amazing to get line-out recordings of Mega Man Legends 1 and 2 and Misadventures of Tron Bonne. But of course that would be a lot of work, and probably wouldn’t be able to get all the tracks without some sound effects interfering and such.
Pretty much all Genesis games have a sound test in the options, don’t they? I can’t think of any that don’t at the moment, but I’m not exactly a Genesis connoisseur.
Seems like it would take more time and effort getting the unedited files to you then back to him, rather than he just doing the editing himself. And he probably doesn’t trust some random guy to do a good job. I know I wouldn’t.
Why? Simple. Listen to Super Nes .spc files and compare to line-out rips then. Feel any difference? There’s almost none.
If you feel there’s an improvement, then show me how.
Now listen to the PITIFUL .vgm or .vgz files of Genesis soundtracks and then compare with line-out rips.
It’s like a completely different soundtrack, with better instruments, less distortion, etc.
Sometimes even the pitch is different, which says a lot about how BADLY the Genesis soundchip is emulated.
So personally I agree with the people who say "more Genesis, please". 🙂
Games like Quackshot, Desert Strike, Kid Chameleon, Road Rash, or World of Illusion deserve a line-out rip! 🙂
sound more clear and have less distortion.
What I want is the REAL thing, like how it sounded back then, from the console itself(with headphones).
I played ECCO on a Megadrive 1, in early 90s, so I remember how it sounded, and the line-out rip is exactly this, while the .vgz sounds like a poorly emulated sound.
The Megadrive 1 sound was a bit more "muffled" than the 2, which you certainly noticed on the line-out rips.
It’s an incredible pleasure for me to listen to these OSTs like I’m listening it from the real thing. (I don’t have the ECCO cartridge anymore)
People who played the real thing back then prefer line-out rips. Unless they have a preference for the emulated sound, which I respect.
As for "distortion"… Come on man, I’m listening to the .vgz version of "Ice Zone"(Ecco 1), and there’s distortion all over the place, and none in the line-out rip.(try with headphones)
I use Vgm input plugin v0.40 with Winamp and frankly the .vgz version is UNBEARABLE. What do you use?
On a side note… Would it be impossible to create an emulator which sounds like the REAL thing?
I tried them all and none come even close to the real thing.
That would be something.
But I’ll be thankful for whatever Goat decides to do.
line-out rip of the Opening theme there is much more distortion in the line-out rip than in the .vgz file.
Compared there is basically no distortion.
xdddd
You know the game B-Wings [NES]?
It would be a great rip
You were the best!
Irongoat recording the soundtracks of "Road Rash" games on Megadrive. v(^^)v

Btw, anyone know of any high-quality collections of old Famicom Disk System soundtracks?
Let’s hope he’ll release even more osts in 2016! 🙂

From what I read on his Facebook page, his new releases will no longer be true audiophile grade:
"Some users have lamented excessive bass on some of our releases which made the listening experience unenjoyable. I really want to avoid that so, once I get the new monitors, I’ll be going through all of our releases to see if there’s any issues with them and, eventually, SLIGHTLY EQ to turn the bass down a little or boost other frequencies."

Well he shouldn’t listen to these people cos I have "monitoring" headphones and speakers too and I don’t have too much bass on my side.
I am curious. What kind of headphones are they?
I have the Sennheiser HD598 and I don’t find the bass on these recordings (16bap) exaggerated, whatsoever.
I have Audiotechnica ath-m50x monitoring headphones. I was tempted to get a the higher model atm m70x but the m50x sounds better to my ears. I am very happy with it 😀
& thanks for a few more HF rip 🙂
You made truly amazing rips that preserved authentic game music, for games that deserved to be heard in their full glory!
