Has anyone succeeded in downloading the 1.7 GB lossless rip? Mega keeps stalling on me, or won’t even start the download. It says "temporary error, retrying". On multiple occasions, the percentage counter went back one or two points. I managed to download files several times the size of this in the past with the same configuration.

As far as I know, according to Mega itself, Firefox has a problem with downloading large files from their service. Lefance, however, attests to the opposite. I didn’t have any success in downloading any file from Mega with Firefox on Mac. I could’ve helped if you were using Chrome, I’m sorry.

Mega further sucks because it writes everything you download twice on your drive: once in Chrome’s HTML5 File System folder while downloading (it writes to RAM when using Firefox), and then when the download finishes copies it to your designated download folder. For me, it also leaves the original in the File System folder, pointlessly taking up space, so I have to go and delete them each time. Only Mega works this aggravatingly stupid way (that I know of). They’re needlessly abusing a web standard, Mega sucks.

Dividing one big file into 200MB files isn’t all bad, as it allows you to choose from a lot more hosts (Zippyshare, Mediafire, etc.) that are still fast. It’s also a lesser problem if a smaller file download stalls.

My file got downloaded on Mega (Firefox) but it didnt ask for manual location which it did for old downloads month back.

That’s what I was referring to. 4shared requires me to log in with my Facebook / Twitter / Google / Instagram credentials, but that’s really not necessary to download a file and I don’t trust 4shared.
