Thank you very much Sanico. 🙂
Confirmed: Tested just a moment ago. Uploaded a bunch of files to my free account, logged out, visited the links, and downloaded them again.
MF has had some server issues in the last three days; as per usual the "community" has gone stark raving mad and started spreading rumours that this is the end of Mediafire.
Two things have changed on Mediafire since the MU debacle:
a) You have to sign up to upload. A free account is fine.
b) They are being a little more trigger-happy with regard to deleting accounts of known copyright infringers.
Apart from that, business as usual, folks.
https://www.mediafire.com/select_account_type.php?utm_source=ad_free&utm_medium=button#step-1
This is what I was referencing. Under free account it says content distribution is 0 mb/month. I am assuming this means downloading of your uploaded files by someone other than yourself…
Content Distribution
Files in your account can be distributed to others without viewing the MediaFire website. You can also distribute files up to 10GB. When a file is downloaded from your account the transfer is charged against your account.
In other words, you can pay to obtain direct links – so your downloaders don’t have to look at the Mediafire landing page and occasionally solve a Captcha as they usually do.
I guess this is more useful for people who want to, say, offer some software for download from their website but want to offload the server / bandwidth concern to a third party, ie Mediafire. They pay the flat rate, and in exchange people get simple and direct downloads from you and they never know their download was provided by somebody else. 🙂
MF are playing a very clever game; on the surface, everything is changing – but inside everything is exactly the same. I imagine they will be buoyed by the inevitable failure of the Dotcom case – what an unmitigated FARCE that has been!
I bought an account on MF to do the massive amounts of re-ups here and on other forums and seeing the comments by yepsa & cleatus my heart sank then skipped a beat.
Thanks for your tests and input tango…whew, now I need a beer.
I assume (hope) you mean the U.S. Feds will fail. Here’s an interesting article with Dotcom refuting all the claims against MU…
http://torrentfreak.com/kim-dotcom-the-us-government-is-wrong-heres-why-120326/
I was able to use peeje earlier. Also got a link from rapidgator but it wasn’t able to finish downloading…
I remember posting around the time that Megaupload went under, that expectations by many that we could all just switch to another hoster and all would be fine were unreasonable.
Thousands of servers cannot simply be bought and brought on-stream seamlessly.
Is Rapidgator.net Down Now or Rapid Gator Website not Working Just For Me? (http://www.isitdownrightnow.com/rapidgator.net.html)
Rapidgator is not down, it works fine. BUT, a number of files there have been Trojans, so watch out. I was looking for stuff, and they’d have files labeled at 2 or 3 hundred MB. I did not notice at first that the file was acutally only several kb it 1 or 2 mb. So, if using rapidgatoe, make sure everything matches. Macafee handled the sitch no sweat, but still. I have had a couple folks I trust use it though, and had no problems. This was as of two days ago.
Also note, that although Mirror Creator offers mirrors to Rapid Share, all links I have used in the last few days show that as a failed upload, so you may wanna check when you up. I have had several of other’s mirrors also say "file not found", so you might just want to follow your own link after a while, see what took, and what did not.
So, they’re back.
Their Batch Manager doesn’t work on a Mac.
Won’t load for me…only the .biz site…

Bish, that is a UK site. I manually typed the address, it would not load. Perhaps they are blocking US users?
———- Post added at 08:59 AM ———- Previous post was at 08:57 AM ———-
none of the links on Google allow me on either, they just take me to a blank page and freeze. I bet they are blocking U.S. users….

I tried just multiupload.com, no UK came up. I hit enter, and I was taken back to the wastelands.

I never registered with them so didn’t have any old files as such.
But, as chance would have it I came across an old multiupload link of mine that still remembered its Depositfiles component (even though it was no longer active)…
no sign of any type of account as the old multiupload.com.

I’m in Canada and that’s where it takes me.
MediaFire users:
I’ve noticed for a lot of movie releases, whether it’s a DVD-R, 720p or a 1080p, but I’m finding a lot of users are getting their accounts suspended very quickly when a major upload is created.
Within 24 hours of uploading and posting the files in significant quantity, MF has been able to determine that the content is of copyright material and suspends the account or terminates the account entirely.
How this is done, could be by scanning checksums and running it against a list of known checksums that would otherwise contain copyright material.
The amount of traffic for the file(s) per day.
The naming scheme, as most uploaders retain the scene-release group name, which by now, is a dead giveaway.
So be very cautious with your MF account. Especially if you pay.
Always code your links in case MF tracks the activity back to the originating site, especially if the site has a history of piracy.
Hey everyone, we just wanted to take a moment, and let all of you know about some upgrades that Hostwinds has made for us in order to improve the quality of our sharing system for everyone. The following bugs have been permanently fixed.
ERROR #PJ319:
This error was occurring for some of our users upon uploading a file, the error was caused by the root file system running out of disk space. There was plenty of disk space open on the servers, however the servers were partitioned in a very inefficient way and thus the root file system was running out of space. We re-partitioned every single server in our cluster, and this will prevent the / partition from running out of space in the future, and this error should never be seen again.
All download slots for this file are currently filled.:
This error is meant to be displayed when a server is overloaded and we are waiting for the load to come down. However it was being displayed for all uploads to a small number of our nodes, the Hostwinds team was able to pinpoint the issue for us, and fixed the node monitoring system for the select nodes. This error should not show up any more, because in reality we have plenty of servers so none of them should ever be overloaded.
We have also updated the file manager of the website, for some members it was still showing files that had been deleted, this should no longer be occurring, you can check out your personal file manager at the following link.
My Files (http://www.peejeshare.com/files)
Twice.
Twice.
I’ve had that before as well…
Is sharing legal where you live ?.
Well, making files available in your own webspace isn’t forbidden as far as I know, but if the link can be traced back to you personally, then I’m sure the copyright owners would be much appreciative as it would assist in their efforts to sue you.
However there is a way to bypass this problem. And it’s very simple to do.
First you need to go to this site:
http://rapid8.com/ and paste your download link where it says "Your URL/Link Here", and click the download button. After this it will appear some pop-up ads. Skip and close the ads, and wait till the download link is ready. When you see a button saying "Begin your download", you only need to click on it, and then you can download your file with high speed privileges of a premium user.
I’ve made a test with a rapidshare link, and what usually took me one hour to download, with this method now i finished the download in a few minutes!!
Hope this help 🙂
Just curious. William
By "code" do you mean just give it a cryptic or nonsense title? Or is there something specific to do? How does a hosting site (like MF) track something back to here?
Enlighten me!
Wow—-just by looking at your avatar I can see that no one should mess with Amandazilla. I say you head out to MF Headquarters in Texas and squash ’em.
By the way, by ‘code your links’ he means to post them with a code tag thus:
It bypasses linking as you have to manually copy/paste the url, and although the link becomes available to non-registered members, it reduces the chance of being caught out.
You are welcome…and thank you all for your continued input. 🙂
I looked into Oron about a month ago and read that they had move offshore to avoid trouble for the heavy amount of porn videos they deal in. Here’s an online post from July 2 (this year)…
LAS VEGAS — Corbin Fisher (gay porn king), who filed a $34.8 million piracy suit against Oron less than two weeks ago, has issued a press release warning legitimate users of the file-locker site to back up their files.
Just last week, Oron’s operators told the court that the site could go out of business if it were unable to withdraw additional funds to pay host LeaseWeb.
Corbin Fisher counsel, meanwhile, said Saturday night that all user data on the site could be imperiled.
"Oron’s attorneys told the court that: ‘If Oron’s servers are shut down for non-payment of those monthly hosting fees … its users — 99.9 percent of whom have no connection to this litigation – will lose access to their data.’
"This leads us to believe that Oron neither maintains nor is instituting any backup of user data," Corbin Fisher counsel said. "Therefore, if there are any legitimate users of Oron out there, Liberty Media Holdings (Corbin Fisher’s parent company) advises them to back up any important files for which they are the proper owner or licensee."
They are terrible unless your paying for a Gold Account, slow downloads and like an hour wait between downloads in addition.
I promise I will never use Depositfiles, scouts honour.

Nice catch, edited list.
Thanks for the list
The official number is 5 but it can take up to 6 or 7 before the forum enables it.
I do not know if these changes will mean an end to their habit of deleting just-uploaded files, or an end to those annoying "all slots filled" messages, but anyone who believed in Peeje at the start, but gave up using them, might want to e-mail them at the support address listed in their message and let them know what it will take for you to recommend them again…..
UPDATE FOR SEPT 25: I went ahead and uploaded something to Peeje and when I checked again later that day it had already been deleted. Despite their "really exciting news" Peeje doesn’t seem to have its problems fixed yet.

I gave up on Peeje long ago.
Multiupload still works through UK proxies. You can use the proxy to get the links to the actual download page.
Thanks for the info but I think the average user won’t want to bother with finding a UK proxy every time they wanna download from Multiupload.
I’ve got one in my Chrome bar. I wouldn’t recommend adding anything new there, but for older material people might like to know it’s still functioning.
I’ve noticed recently that uploads that are encrypted or password protected (I believe it’s referring to the links being password protected and not the archives themselves), there is a download limit.
There is also a download limit for split archives that are part of a set.
When those download limits are reached, the downloader must pay for some sort of premium membership starting at $1.50/month.
These are the following errors a downloader will get if they try to download an encrypted/password protected link or a split archive…
Let’s see how long this thing will last though.
DO NOT USE QUEENSHARE
There is browser highjacker embedded at that host. I had no less than 4 pop-ups/pop-unders before I could close them I had a final pop up that covered the entire screen saying that the FBI has locked my computer (I said under my breath "yeah right") so naturally opened the task manager to close the Firefox browser I was using. Before I could do anything the task manager disappeared and the screen remained. I hate these fecking games we are forced to play sometimes.
So in short Peejeshare started out as a really good alternative to MU and now is trying to generate cash-per-click by using ad.fly and possibly compromising it’s user’s security in the process and continuing with spotty service. Well done Peejeshare, well done. http://smileys.on-my-web.com/repository/Unhappy/unhappy-029.gif
RapidShare downloads limitations apply to expel the “pirates” | Tech Crash (http://techcrash.net/rapidshare-downloads-limitations-apply-to-expel-the-pirates/)
Rapidshare is changing to a limited download scenario, Peeje is deleting content randomly for some unknown reason,
Mediafire who already has a limitation of 200MB per file, is now limiting the amount of downloads of split files.
Gamefront has been spotty at times but as of late seems to be working fairly good, that is if you live in a favored geographical location.
Please read this list to see if your country is included.

On November 27, RapidShare will start putting a tight cap on outbound downloads for its free users. Paid members will still have 30 gigabytes in outbound downloads per day, but everybody else will be capped at one gigabyte. This will apply to public downloads, whereas direct Dropbox-style sharing between users won’t be affected.
Until it’s clear how Mega will shake out, it looks like Peejeshare or Sendspace are the way to go.
We have some very exciting news for everyone today. After weeks of subpar performance across the peejeshare file sharing network, we have decided to completely revamp the system from scratch!
We are excited to announce the launch of our completely redesigned file sharing service dubbed FileWinds! We have opted to completely remove the file sharing service from the peeje website, as that just slows things down, and the messy vbulletin integration causes problems. The new file sharing service has these benefits:
Faster Downloads/Uploads
New Improved File Manager
Android+Windows App Comming Soon for Improved File Management!
FTP Uploads/Downloads Comming Soon
5 GB Max File Size!!!!
Registered users get 5MBPs Uploads/Download
100Gigs of Storage Space
Donors Get UNLIMITED Storage Space
No Waiting/ADF.ly redirects
Everything is overall 10X better than our previous system, all old links will continue to work! We are still in favor of a free ad-financed file sharing service, and as such we are giving registered users the world, however we want to give our users the ability to earn money by using our service, so anyone who downloads files you upload, and then upgrades to premium, you will get a whopping 50% of all sales for that user!
Please begin using the new system for all future uploads/downloads
The new URL for our FREE file sharing service is: Filewinds – Free Filesharing (http://filewinds.com/)
Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns about this very exciting change!
–The Peejeshare Team
UPDATE: Despite what the Peejeshare homepage says, their new Filewinds file-sharing site would not recognize my Peejeshare login/password. I signed up again using the same info and it treated me as a new customer, completely ignoring the 100 files I have in my account with Peejeshare.
Can I download Game Front files from any territory in the world?
A: Game Front file downloads are not supported in the following territories:
Italy
That’s a load of bull. Whoever wrote that list is mistaken, I’ve been using and downloading Game Front user-uploaded-files ever since its domain was "FileFront.com" (which dates back to more than 6 years ago, they changed domain around 2009-2010, if memory serves me right).
EDIT:
Tried to get the Diablo 3 v1.07 Patch, no problems. File downloaded successfully, not as good as they claim at blocking out places, it seems.
EDIT #2:
Back to the main matter: http://hugefiles.net/ may be another good choice, I think. Thanks go to Nocturnal Risk for originally mentioning it to me.
The service I’ve been using (Packupload) is having upload issues so I was, once again, thinking about going with Mega. The 1 thing I don’t like is that they require downloaders to check a box saying they agree to Mega’s "terms of service". Has anyone said they wouldn’t download one of your files because of that??? Are there any concerns you have with Mega that you could share? THANKS!
If anybody refused to download something because they objected to ticking a box, I’d tell them to grow the f**k up and not give them a second thought… Mega is stupidly fast, very safe (your stuff stays forever provided it doesn’t get DMCA’d), and very generous, even for free users.
There’s a Firefox Add-on which gets MEGA to work.. and it’s offered by that very website.
Can’t say anything about the download speeds, personally, sometimes I get 879kbp/s, others 300… I guess it’s a matter of servers being busy.
Of course when someone openly posts the entire link in plain sight, then it loses the anonymity.
I have very fast DL’s and U/L’s with Mega and I have dirt slow internet and as to Chrome it has been my browser of choice for quite some time.
I brighten up when someone PMs me a Mega link [thanks again for the Blade Runner, Wildwood!] because I know I’ll be getting the goods at top speed. Generally 2.2 MBps – which matches the maximum I’ve gotten from the most abundantly seeded torrents – and so probably my ISP’s limit. Toss in no ads or captchas and it’s the gold standard, consumer-wise.
Then again, so was Megaupload – before the Night of the Long Knives. So I feel safer with 12 Mirrorcreator links to small-fry services than with 1 link to a high-profile target like Mr. Dotcom. And I’m not comfortable giving them even a throwaway e-mail address – though I suppose the copyright goons wouldn’t need one to hunt me down.
As for having to agree to their terms of service, if you’re too scrupulous to lie about agreeing not to infringe copyright, you’re too scrupulous to infringe copyright. And you should depart this board before we corrupt you with our bad example. 🙂
Can you give me a link to this add?
https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/meganz/
If you’re using Windows, it should put the downloads in "C:\Users\*username*\Download". Otherwise, I suppose it will automatically pick what’s the OS’ default Download folder.
If you’re using Windows, it should put the downloads in "C:\Users\*username*\Download". Otherwise, I suppose it will automatically pick what’s the OS’ default Download folder.
Thanks, but…:
Niedostępny dla Firefox 3.6.18 😉 Not for mine old version FF.
My download speeds on that website are in the "679~819 kbps" range, so I’d say anonfiles is a decent choice. I’m not sure about the maximum filesize allowed on there, though… Seen archives of 390 MB stored.
Edit:
Haha, didn’t notice the bit of information below the upload box, stupid me.
MediaFire is now requiring you to register in order to upload.
Just when you think you can finally upload that trailer music you’ve worked on for three days, things step right in the way.
Packupload allows anonymous uploads (up to 400 Mb a file), but may have an I.P. limit as for a few weeks my uploads freeze at around 17%.
Depositfiles require registration, but will take a fictitious email address. They allow large files, but there are overall limits. I save that for large files.
Solidfiles allows anonymous uploads, but are slow, and can arbitrarily fail.
Sendspace allows anonymous uploads up to 300 Mb a file.
There are still options out there…
In any case, the Gold standard is now indisputably Mega.
Sign up, with a valid email. Make a fake one if you’re that bothered – it takes ten seconds, building up the total time necessary to register to half a minute and that includes ten seconds scratching your butt.
You are traceable *anyway* by IP address. You’re not at all traceable by your email address. All they know is that [email protected] uploaded some files. They could go to the bollocks.com system admin and discover that Mickey Mouse IP address 1.2.3.4 signed up for that account… or they could just look on their server logs and see your IP address anyway.
In any case, nobody has ever been prosecuted for uploading to a filelocker, and if anybody was it would be prolific movie uploaders, chart music uploaders, etc… not small fry losers like us putting up a few albums nobody’s ever heard of…
Perspective, gentlemen; perspective… 🙂
All I can really suggest is to not stick to a single file-host, when uploading: learn to switch and spread around the goodies. MEGAUPLOAD’s fate and MediaFire’s deletion/suspension rampage can hit any file-host… and nullify just as swiftly all your "efforts".
I agree that there is no such thing as a gold standard in file hosts these days. Seems like even the best of them right now have issues for some and I also suggest that everyone should use multiple file hosts.
Regarding the issue of registering for free accounts and supplying bogus info, you need look no further that right HERE (http://www.fakenamegenerator.com/) and HERE (http://www.fakemailgenerator.com/) for that. 😉
As for Mega… I’ve uploaded and downloaded prolifically on a daily basis since they opened and have never once encountered a problem of any kind. Uploads are encrypted and verified… so the only way something could’ve been corrupted is if a) the uploader actually uploaded something corrupted, b) something went wrong when they uploaded, or b) something went wrong when your browser decrypted the archive. In both cases I would be inclined to suspect RAM issues off the bat, since the encryption/decryption process is undertaken by your browser in memory prior to beginning the upload. Everyone likes to blame the host… but there is usually some other explanation.
I think if there were an actual inherent problem with Mega, it would have been a) splattered all over the internet, and b) resolved hastily.
MEGAUPLOAD’s fate and MediaFire’s deletion/suspension rampage can hit any file-host…
Mega can’t scan inside your archives even if they wanted to. It is physically impossible to know anything about a file aside from how much storage space it occupies, without the decryption key.
All I can really suggest is to not stick to a single file-host, when uploading: learn to switch and spread around the goodies.
Ain’t that the truth… sad, but true.
We’ve all done OK in the last 18 months since MegaUpload cacked it. Yeah, it’s been a different-host-every-six-weeks scenario, and yeah, we’ve done a lot more re-uploading than previously… but basically, we’re still sharing and stuff is still available.
I worry about people who say things like "the walls are closing in" / "our options are limited" / "there’s nowhere to upload anymore" because these statements are clearly and unequivocally nonsense. The climate has changed… but we have more options than ever and I still say that Mega is ten times better than Megaupload ever was, even at its peak.
By the way, I don’t work for Kim Dotcom or anything – but I’m seriously happy with that site. It just works. I haven’t had to reupload anything since JANUARY. I haven’t had any (sensible) complaints about speed / availability / other problems. I’ve just had files uploaded incredibly fast and people downloading them incredibly fast too.
"The uload.to service is discontinued…"
These things happen, eh. MediaFire’s corrupting-archives-issue also started, apparently, without any cause on the "user-side" and no updates to its ‘Uploader’. The website suddenly corrupted archives, "forcing" you to add recovery-information.
EDIT:
Mega can’t scan inside your archives even if they wanted to. It is physically impossible to know anything about a file aside from how much storage space it occupies, without the decryption key.
I’ve heard such kind of claims already from other websites, in the past, stating they used a kind of encryption which made it impossible for the websites’ owners (or an "external") to scan the archives’ content… Files still got nuked within minutes off the finished uploads.
Don’t believe every crap you read. They can always stick their nose in, even if they tell you otherwise.
Others like Mega need a true email, as they send an email that you need to respond to…
I’ve just registered for Mega using a "Hide My Ass!" email address. Not totally untraceable, but perhaps the next best thing.
Yesterday they had an article on the News that people obsessed with anonymity are often paedophiles. I hope not everyone makes that kind of tabloid connection.
What you upload to Mega is encrypted. Without the decryption key it is NOT POSSIBLE to understand the contents of the file.
If you upload something to a forum (say, here) and provide the decryption key (which is necessary if you want people to be able to make hear nor tail of what you uploaded) then there’s nothing to stop somebody from reporting your upload, leading to it being taken down.
My point was that Mega won’t delete what you upload unless somebody complains about it (because they don’t know or care what it actually is, until a rightsholder finds your link and decryption key) – but Mediafire can and will and do delete your uploads ON SIGHT for no reason other than the name of the archive and/or the names of the files inside the archive. They severely prohibit downloads of encrypted archives precisely because they don’t know what’s in them and they assume that it must be something bad. They prohibit downloads of split archives because split archives are usually combined to reassemble Bluray rips or games or whatever.
If you upload something to Mega – NO MATTER WHAT IT IS – and your files don’t get DMCA’d or otherwise attract the attention of some law enforcement agency… right now, there’s no reason whatsoever to assume that those files won’t remain available in perpetuity. 100% of the files I have uploaded to Mega (shared here and other places) are still up and available – some of them after seven months. Show me another host that does that and offers reliability and speed to free users.
As for your technical issues; I repeat, RAM problems, my friend! The archives are fine at your end, your browser transfers them entirely into RAM and encrypts them (messing them up) and then uploads them to Mega. At the other end, the encrypted file is downloaded by your browser (again entirely into RAM) and decrypted, then transferred to wherever you send your downloads. Either that or some other problem at your end. Lesson one of statistics: If a service has 3,000,000 users and 2,999,950 of them use the service quite happily without a hint of trouble, and 50 of them experience problems, it’s not the service at fault, it’s a local issue related to the users in question, or the users themselves.
As for this email address business, I repeat: Knowing your email address doesn’t help anybody – knowing your IP address does make you traceable and the already have that because you visited their site. Going to a site and worrying about joining it on the grounds that they will trace you from your email address exhibits a painful failure of logic. If Mr Spock were here he’d be having a coronary.
Only a few days ago I encountered the first link to MEGA where the file had indeed been removed (EVIL DEAD by Roque Banos), so they’re not untouchable.
???
Well, indeed – as I said, obviously links will still go down if they are explicitly DMCA’d or removed by the uploader… but my original point stands; they don’t (can’t) scan the contents of archives, nor do they restrict particular types of archive, nor do they block access to files arbitrarily based on file names / hash matches. If you don’t delete it, and it doesn’t get DMCA’d, it’s there forever.
New problem downloading from MEGA for me the past few days: Downloads always stop after a few %, and always at the same position. Restarting downloads makes no difference.
Curious… no problem here and have been uploading and downloading all day… is it happening with specific files or just pretty much everything you try to download?
If I may add, MEGA has more location restrictions in their tails.
As in, they prohibit access from certain countries? Would you be able to point to some documentation on this? If true, disturbing and annoying news…
No problems at all since then and no deleted files since I started in March, then again I publish practically nothing openly on this site.
Now I’ve almost completely exhausted my 50GB limits at both ends. Have to find out soon whether a second account with the same IP will give me another 50GB.
Yes, I’d be interested to hear if that is possible.

That’s where Mega’s creator lives. He can do whatever he wants, just like this bloke – Fat Guy Destroys Xbox – YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OG4StOKFw7M)

wimpel, you wondered if it is possible to get another Mega account once you had used up your 50 Gb limit.
I just did it. You have to use a different email address and account name. As I use proxy email addresses from hidemyass.com there may be no limitation to the number of accounts at Mega.
I used bishtyboshty and kantankerous as my first 2 account names (they might have been cunning enough to spot it if I’d used bishtyboshty2).
There is obviously no IP-related limit.
Thanks for the reply.. very strange, I went to sleep when I wrote that and now I still have the problem 🙁
Edit: I opened a different browser and now it worked on that one, very wierd.

I have the same problem. All of a sudden Mega links doesn’t work on my Chrome. I have to use IE. It all started after flash without asking permission decided to update the file pepflashplayer.dll
I get as far as having accepted the legal terms and such, clicking download and getting an error message telling me my disc is full. I pause the download and start it again and the counter begins but always stalls after a while. However, trying the link in IronPortable works nice which is weird considering it’s built on the same engine as Chrome
Same, but I can’t get to it on Firefox, but on IE it works 😛
Others like Mega need a true email, as they send an email that you need to respond to…
I’ve just registered for Mega using a "Hide My Ass!" email address. Not totally untraceable, but perhaps the next best thing.
Yesterday they had an article on the News that people obsessed with anonymity are often paedophiles. I hope not everyone makes that kind of tabloid connection.
U can use YOP mail. Disposable mail. U can still activated your account…
I always use it to create new VMware account.
I’m guessing you are trying to upload. Every hoster has off days. Maybe this is one of theirs.
Try a different host.
They are not a hoster that I ever consider using, as they impose a wait of 3 hours between downloads for FREE users, no matter how small the files are.
Then it would help to know which particular link you are trying to access ?.
Given how blazing the download speeds are, I probably still get the file faster from them than from anyone else.
Do you know and can recommend any filehoster besides mega?
Do you know and can recommend any filehoster besides mega?
I mostly use Depositfiles.
Files are retained for 3 months after last access. You have to register, but you can use an avatar name. You have to use an email address, but it can be a made-up one (keep a note of the one you use though). There is no verification process.
Uploads are quite quick, at least they are for me. There is not a real file size problem. I think the individual limit is 5 Gb a file ?, but who needs that much anyway for a single file ?. And there doesn’t seem to be a limit to the number of accounts you can set up. I’ve got 4 so far.
The only problem is when downloading, the bigger the file you download the longer you have to wait till you can download the next one. But this seems a small price to pay for knowing that your files are still going to be there for more than a couple of weeks. And generally the files I upload there are for others, so I don’t usually need to download them myself.
Just as I switched to MEGA … ^^
thanks for the info though! 🙂

Regrettable, but not entirely surprising. I have sympathy for people who lost their data, but frankly anybody trusting important data to any cloud service – let alone one hosted and administered in the US and in the midst of a nasty court case to determine its future – without a backup plan of any kind was really asking for trouble.
RIP Hotfile, you will not be missed…
In my opinion, no…it’s really fussy requiring you to use a certain browser and the latest flash/java updates have to be installed and so on.
I like using Zippyshare, it’s easy and they have a nifty upload tool.

Hello,
Does somebody know if Filefactory is blocked from Europe?
All links are invalid. Thank you!
I don’t know…let’s wait and see what others have to say about it.

I just downloaded Cipriani’s Speed Driver. It took 20 seconds. I don’t see your problem.
And when you click Free Download you get this:
So much for "free" downloads. Either you install something unwanted or you have to register in one way or another… 🙂
It’s best to put the link in a download manager and not visit the hosting page directly.

Thanks for the info, correction made in the lists.

Fast, easy, and always stays up. It’s not one of those sites that go "Oh, nobody’s used this for 60 days so I’ll delete myself". I like MEGA but find it to be very glitchy, even using different browsers and plugins it sometimes gets stuck on 99%, depending on the size of the download.
That’s going to be around for a while.

File.to is down.
Thanks for the info and…
Textbin is a data host specializing in text only. This particular data host goes down from time to time but is already back up. I prefer freetexthost.com or litetext.com over textbin.

So is Ifile.it.
God I’m bored. I was just typing random URLs from the list.
*sigh
I suggest putting on some music on your headphones until you go to sleep. 🙂

Watch those keywords in filenames, folks (the more cryptic, the better). Also, better to make all shared links by PM only.

When a "wildfire" took most of my Mega links, they were only from the first post of my started threads. I still had active links if they were posted elsewhere on the shrine – my point being that the file names didnt tip off someone at Mega or they would have deactivated ALL my files at the source. And I thought the search-and-destroy program was set upon us by certain person?
I share MEGA links on various eBBS’s, not just FFS. But now that you mention it, I looked at the removed files and they were all FFS shares.
Gosh … first my VSD threads got deleted and now this…. all in less than a week.
Gosh … first my VSD threads got deleted and now this…. all in less than a week.
Ugh, so you were really really targeted.
I forgot to mention that I included a couple MEGA links from other people in my first post/started threads, and those were deactivated in their MEGA accounts.
The thing that bugs me is MEGA assumes we’re guilty until proven innocent, they allow automated deactivation, and we have to send them our personal contact info and proof of ownership for every file.
Almost all were reported violations on same day: Feb. 20, 2017.
About 48GB lost, I think. (The whole account, not just "violation/deactivated links).
The links were from a huge mixed bag of studios (none were VSD).
I think someone who lurks here doesn’t like us. May be a Stuxnet agent 😉
MEGA is uncooperative. But their policies only hurt them in my case. I only used their Free account, and never earned $$ from their affiliate program.
My warning again: make all links private. If your uploads are important to you, do NOT trust ANY one single Host.

Thanks for this excellent list and keeping it updated.
So this means that now Varese releases are permitted?
Like in the case of Disney-Fox?

To spell out what Jerry is saying, Varese Sarabande is now owned by a company called Concord Music.
The copyrights wouldnt devolve into public domain, and I doubt the new parent company shelled out the money so we could share the music for free. The only loophole Jerry might be seeing is shouldn’t the new parent company issue their own "cease and desist" request to the shrine? I’d think Varese’s original request would still be valid.
But with both of these posts there’s still something I’m not sure to understand so if anyone can help this will greatly appreciate ;o)
If I have a session from a score that Varese Sarabande have published, did I have the right to share the session? Or did I have to remove all the cues available on the Varese album or I can’t share it anyway?
Thank you for your time in advance!
The rules say that if Varese still owns the rights to that soundtrack, you cannot share anything from it, no matter what it is or where it’s from. That would include sessions.
That said, I don’t know if the MODs realize that Varese does NOT necessarily own the rights to every form of distribution, such as digital downloads or being included on a video disc as a music-only (or music & effects) track. Twilight Time has released dvd/blurays with them for this reason.
