I would very much love to hear this as all of the audio of Prisoner of Azkaban is littered with non-removable voice echoes. I’m curious to know: have you invented a program that can filter out those voice echoes? Because at this point in technology, that move is impossible.

Yes, I’m fed up, sorry. 😀 I just hate the idea that Patrick Doyle’s beautiful music might never be available without SFX. And I’m afraid I am a juvenile. Can anyone please explain me why they only release half the soundtrack when a movie is released? I mean, wouldn’t it be more logical to release the complete recordings? It would mean more money for the people who release it, wouldn’t it? Why do CDs of complete recordings even exist if the idiots don’t want to release it? And concerning HP, there’s so much illogical things that bother me, for example why did they release a limited edition for part one and not for part two? They release ultimate editions, extended cuts, widescreen dvds etc. of the movies, so why not just complete recordings?

It’s all about how the music industry works. Soundtracks are marketed to the casual listeners, and thus will only include the highlights from the full score. The industry will very rarely market music to hardcore fans like us, because the casual listeners outweigh us by a large majority. More music would mean the prices would be higher, and the casual listener likely wouldn’t want to pay $60 for something that he might not listen to very often. The industry would die.

CDs of "complete recordings" may not exist for everything. bishtyboshty was right; the LotR complete recordings were possibly a once in a life time deal. Just because that happened does not guarantee it could ever happen again. He’s also right in saying that the complete scores we do have are only available because someone stole them out of the vault.

I’m not familiar with the piece you describe, but it may have been a solo violin piece recorded separately, and overlain on the orchestral track.

For rehersals, okay, but why perform music differently on cd? I usually think that the cd performances are very bad compared to the movie performances. Or they also tend to add instruments that don’t even come in the movie. For example: the diadem contains this very aanoying clarinet on the cd, not in the movie. And battlefield doesn’t even contains that annoying kettledrums in the movie either. (I know, I have analysed the score a bit too detailed.)

You must not realize that a lot of stuff has been digitized in this day and age. They can record all the instruments in separate channels and mix them however they please. There are differences between soundtrack versions and film versions of tracks, but I don’t know why they choose which versions to pick to put on the soundtracks. Given the recording sessions to just about any score, you would be able to see that a lot of tracks have alternate versions, extra inserts, and even music that never got used in the movie.

Its called multiple takes, they usually play and record the piece a bunch of times, and edit the best parts together, so for example it might look like this: 0:00 to 0:30 is Take 1, 0:30 to 0:50 is Take 14, 0:50 to 1:40 is Take 120, and 1:40 to 2:30 is Take 45.

The orchestra performance may just be the start of the process. Each instrument can be miked, and the volume levels increased or decreased in the final mix. The cost of this can be huge, and will never be possible for a CD release.

All the music, that is, in film version, not with instruments added on the cd that aren’t there when you watch the DVD, I mean, no alternate endings, just literally what they ued in the movie. You prefer the film versions to the album versions because you can’t have the film versions. A desire to want something you can’t have always just makes you want it more than the stuff you can have. The greediest of the greedy people will get something that they’ve sought after for years and then immediately start bitching about what’s wrong with it or what’s missing from it or move on to demanding something else.

And sometimes, a composer wants a sound that can’t be produced by your everyday orchestra so once he has all the instruments he wanted to use in a piece recorded, he’ll go onto a computer to create those additional sounds that he wants to have. Much like most everything else these days, computers are used a lot in the music industry.

The Simpsons Movie is 20th Century Fox, and The Rock is Disney. To my knowledge, I’m pretty sure the legit sessions for The Rock have never actually surfaced, only rips and fan edits.

But The Simpsons and The Rock have absolutely nothing to do with Warner Bros.

Generally, as part of the composer deal, he will be given the opportunity to issue a selection of his or her music from the film. Some composers prefer to re-record their music specifically for album release (John Williams is one of those).

Regardless, the music that they recorded at the sessions is often different to that which is heard on the film release. A composer naturally has their own view on how their music should sound. The music editor decides on the film version, but the composer decides how an album should sound.

Like Dimensioner, I think we are going round in circles here. Just accept that this is how the real world is.

I’m trying, but as a hardcore HP and music fan, I want those recording sessions so bad. 😀 And it’s very hard to accept t if you keep coming across recording sessions for movies that don’t interest you, and it’s even harder if you know that WB HAS all the music but just refuses to do something with it.

And as a hardcore RCP and Hans Zimmer fan, I want the recording sessions to all three Pirates movies, Inception, Sherlock Holmes, The Da Vinci Code, and countless other scores inside and outside of RCP. But I know that I may never get those scores. And I have to learn to live with that fact–you will too.

I’ll try, as long as you promise to share the Angels and Demons recording sessions with me if you ever find them. 😀

Not to beat a dead horse, but: first, it would be highly unlikely that anyone here would ever just "find" what you seek, and second, if they did, they would be obligated to not tell a soul. The elitists like to trade rare scores among each other, and if a score gets out, that’s just one less they can use to get the stuff they want. If I happened upon someone who had what you or I seek I would firstly have to have something of equal value to trade or else some large sum of money, and secondly I wouldn’t be able to share with just any old person. Perhaps I am oversimplifying this whole concept, but this how I see the matter.

On a related note, why wasn’t this thread closed ages ago? All it is is TheGreatShoutOuts re-posting a falsely expanded BS edit that came off of that fake-ass blog which (is now thankfully gone).

Well, I’d be only too glad to pay someone to have the Angels and Demons recording sessions, or the Harry Potter recording sessions… And I agree that this topic should have been closed a long time ago, but seeing as manowweik1995 posted something on it – who by the way has made the best Harry Potter expandd scores, in my opinion – I started replying.

No offense bollemanneke, but I doubt you would be able to afford such things assuming that they were actually available. Also, you are a newcomer; and those who might have such things would need to be convinced that you could be trusted.

Back in my relative youth (1990’s), I would pay out �30 or �40 pounds a title, just for incomplete boots of extra music on CD’s.

I perfectly understand you. I just think it’s such a shame that some of the greatest movie music isn’t available. And just out of curiosity, how does one prove that one can be trusted? They can’t keep an eye on someone’s internet connection all day long after having given a score to them. I mean, i would do a great deal for the Angels and Demons and HP recordings, but I imagine it is virtually impossible to approach the people who actually posess the scores…

I agree that it’s not fair that the WB are not going to release complete scores. If they’re exploting the franchise with hundreds of editions (they should release the original 3 hours cut of Order Of The Phoenix) on DVD, Bluray, VHS, why they can’t do the same thing with the scores?

Oh, about Statues, the string runs played during the first minute of the cue are in the movie but in the CD it’s very low mixed. Though in the movie, the strings runs continue when the shield is surrounding the castle, but in it’s not on the CD. Also, the chorus and the trademark synth pulse that Desplat uses on his movies are very low mixed.

Well, what if some people, like me, who would really want to have the complete scores, also write to WB? I hope I’m allowed to share e-mail adresses here, but the answer I received came from hpinfo at warnerbros dot com . Maybe they change their mind if they receive more e-mails? Because they didn’t say they were NOT going to release them, they just said for the moment. SMybe we can speed things up by writing to them.

Sending emails won’t do much especially if you’re onl willing to ask the people of this thread to participate. But, petitions likely won’t get you what you want either. I’ve seen petitions for Inception and Transformers 2–you know how those are, right?–and I’m not seeing anything happen as a result of them.

Haven’t we had enough interviews, featurettes and whatever they all call it? Why not just release the music? I can’t see that anybody asked you whether it was going to be your last edit. They are all asking you if you could kindly upload your full edit into one file so they don’t have to rip them from YouTube (literally the worst possible way to be getting music) or have to download them one at a time.

Youtube isn’t always bad, I downloaded some really good quality music from there, but why would anyone want to upload their scores without even making a playlist? Just upload them on a torrent site, mediafire or whatever.

Manowweik1995 has a good expanded score. I’ve been asking him to upload his scores here rather than on youtube for weeks, but he doesn’t do it, don’t know why.

The only problem with manowweik1995 is he’s oblivious to any sort of OST, so he’s got Lily’s Theme with SFX.

There isn’t. Harry Potter doesn’t have eight composers writing music for it like most anything that is coming from Remote Control Productions. And if it did, I’m sure someone would have stumbled across such composers’ websites by now. All the recent websites for composers like Lorne Balfe, Geoff Zanelli, and Clay Duncan were discovered like the day they went live. There may, in fact, be additional composers for some of the movies, but they probably aren’t big enough to have a fancy website like Lorne Balfe, or even get credited anywhere. I haven’t done any research to back up these statements; this is all just reasoning.

And, it isn’t that difficult to find what on the OST was used in the movie and where. All you have to do is listen to the OST and then listen to the movie. Better yet, you could listen to the movie on a laptop where you can pause and rewind as much as you like. Better still, you can just extract the audio off said movie and analyze it side-by-side with the OST in an audio editing program like Audacity. Keep a notepad and pencil next to your computer to take notes, or just use a word processor to type our your notes.

That’s kind of a harsh assumption to make, isn’t it? Some people don’t know the meaning of fake (like the creator of the edit in question). Some people don’t care whether it’s fake or not, and so what if it reused stuff from the older movies? If that’s what the movie did, then some people might prefer having it all already arranged for them. However, if that isn’t the case–like I saw that blog do in other scores, where if an edit is being generated for a sequel, it just uses random clips from previous movies to falsely expand the edit–then I could better understand why everyone would have deleted it.

Besides, aren’t there some members on here who download stuff regardless of whether it’s something that interests them or not for archival purposes in the very case that someone wants a re-up ages after the links have gone dead?

There’s lot of unused stuff. Nicholas Hooper said that he makes even seven hours of music for every film. Desplat said that he made more music for Deathly Hallows Part 2 than Part 1, and Part 2 is shorter than Part 1. Also, the demos of Part 1 has lots of unused/alternate music.

God knows how much stuff was written by the four composers of the saga, and still it’s not heard by anybody except the people who worked on the scores.

I know, I think it’s sad as well. Maybe we should all start spamming Warner Bros or making petitions? I’d be glad to be part of such things. 😀

Actually some additional music DOES exist, actually on the warner brothers official site. With each movie you know they change the site to promote whatever movie they’re on, and with it the music on the site playing in the background. Occasionally (like the official website for Hanna) something that’s not on the OST ends up in the background. For example with the release of "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" the website was changed when the first trailer and posters came out, and it actually had the film version of "Ginny" (The OST version is slightly edited, eliminating like 4 seconds for some stupid reason (and the aurrounds on the dvd have footsteps throughout the bit im referring to) unfortunately i had no way to rip it at that time and therefore once the site was updated…it was lost, someone might still have from when the teaser site first came out, but i DID rip the second additional track that ended up on the official site also from Half-Blood Prince, this one wasn’t even presented on the OST at all, "Persuing Malfoy" as I call it. You can tell by the title where in the movie it takes place but yeah. They turn up occasionally, you never know the old sites might’ve had additional music and we never noticed.

I know this is completely off-topic, but does anyone happen to use AC3Tools Pro to extract ac3 channels? If you do, would you please be so kind as to post the serial number / unlocking code here? I’m asking this because I bought the software, lost the key, then found out MediaTwins wasn’t online anymore, tried to download a cracked version but it doesn’t work anymore. I know there are other programmes to extract AC3 channels, but I need to use AC3tools Pro because it’s the only program that converts to mp3 with such good surround effects.

Rumour has it that the two 3D Blu-Rays for Deathly Hallows have 7.1 surround sound. Does anyone have that track here? Is there a chance the two extra channels would be music without any sfx?

If anything, two extra channels would make it more complicated. I feel like I just argued that point not so long ago, so I’m not going through the trouble to do it again. Then again, take a listen to Metrotokyo’s TRON: Legacy edit, which was made with 7.1 channels, and decide.

Well, uh, manowweik1995 will probably be along shorty with that as well…His DVD rips always seem excessive to me. Like can anyone explain to me how you can end up with like four alternates for the same track?

Question: I thought a new thread policy presented sometime early last year or even the year before dictated that when someone uploaded a new score, they had to create a new thread for it to make it easier to search for or something. How come manowweik1995 doesn’t have to do that? No, and for good reason – there is no complete score.

But there are the demos….You should look for the thread about the demos and see if there are still any live links; if not, just ask for a re-upload. I’ve got the demos myself, but have never listened to very much of them. I don’t know how complete they are, but I do know they are really awful quality.

This thread, here, is for a fake edit for Part II of the Deathly Hallows. Beyond this fake edit and if mannoweik1995 has done an excessive DVD rip of it yet, there is nothing else available apart from the OST, of course.

How do you know that those tracks are missing? I’m not doubting what you say but is this one of those cases where the track list appeared before the demos appeared? It’s kind of like how the complete Pirates 4 demos consisted of 106 tracks, but we only got 41 tracks to begin with, followed by potentially 18 more tracks before the full thing was just uploaded. That sort of situation is discussed here: Thread 113904. Or, do demos for those tracks simply not exist?

Why do people keep posting in this topic? The whole thing was a fake. The original uploader was a guy who wanted attention so he faked this and thought we’d all be stupid enough to think it was real.

I would very much love to hear this as all of the audio of Prisoner of Azkaban is littered with non-removable voice echoes. I’m curious to know: have you invented a program that can filter out those voice echoes? Because at this point in technology, that move is impossible.

A friend of mine has found a way of completely removing the vocal echo from surround sound tracks by using a parametric equaliser (among other plug-ins I think) and very good ears! I’ve watched him do it a few times and it’s incredible to behold!

Is this tool available for public use, or can it be demonstrated for more people? It isn’t just Harry Potter stuff that I’d like to try that out on. I, too, knew of someone who had a friend working on a similar program, but I’m not sure what happened with that one.

It must be the same guy. I hope the executable file becomes available sometime soon. I have the program they’re referring to as a plug-in for Audacity, it’s probably not as sophisticated as a stand-alone program, but it makes good for familiarizing yourself with the process, I was trying it out on a couple things, and haven’t quite mastered it yet, but it does what everyone is saying, you have to make sure your looking at the audio as a frequency spectrum instead of a waveform, that way you can identify where the bit is you want to remove (you actually SEE the sfx around the music) and once you’ve determined around what frequency it’s at you can then go into the program, slide it to that frequency, and then you can adjust range so you can make the area of removal around that frequency bigger or smaller, and then you tell it if you want to remove it entirely or just lower the volume, etc. And all that is just the Audacity plug-in, I too would be interested in a stand-alone program dedicated to this.

Huh. That name is familiar. I think I already have that or some version of it for Audacity. For cleaning up the SFX you can ‘see’, though, I like to use Adobe Audition. The version of Audacity I have cannot display the spectral view very well.

Also, I am in a Circuits course and the unit we’re on right now covers band-pass, band-reject, high-pass and low-pass filters relating to electronics (I guess those things for audio are slightly different).

Also, it’s not a stand-a-lone programme, but a process he’s developed using the parametric equaliser in Cubase and several plug-ins, and does take a great deal of time to do (up to half an hour per 5 seconds of track in some cases).

I think we’re one and the same if it was via pianofiles LOL! I’ve just had him working on a mult-channel super audio CD of the ‘Phantom’ soundtrack (highlights version only unfortunately) and he’s going to be playing me the results next week, which I’m greatly looking forward to!

I did not find him at pianofiles. I actually don’t know who the guy is. I just heard about him from somebody else on this forum. And now I know for sure it’s the same person, because I also remember hearing the statistic: "takes a ridiculous amount of time to process just five seconds of audio."

Theorically its an impossible thing, IMO you cant split the frequency of the BGM and the vocal/SFX to a 100% accuracy level. But ei, if you say its possible i will trust you but as far as i know in the process of spliting the mixed channels, frequencies, etc. it would be a completely chaos to split (again, im talking bout the 100% levels of accuracy) the tracks. I dont know how many tracks was used in the film, but more channels, more difficult will be. Among the years there a lot of people who are trying to completely remove (F. Ex) the Dragon Ball Z SFX of the unreleased tracks (and other animes too) but in the end, there were always something that make the tracks to not to sound clear (Just as my poor english!).

The only thing i can think that maybe is what are you referring its that its VERY possible to split the SFX/vocal and BGM without noticing or slightly noticing the "Clicks", unwanted SFX, etc. in the process. I suppose people who arent used, or are not masters at this, wont notice nothing and say "Wow, its true! 100% SFX free!!!" and the people who are dedicated to this everyday (as composers, "heavy (not music)" listeners, etc.) will say, its not 100% free. You’re missing the point. I’m talking about removing the vocal echo trace that’s often mixed into the front and rear surround sound channels NOT the centre channel full vocal and any and all SFXs! Also, my friend is a professional sound engineer who first worked on the ‘A View to a Kill’ soundtrack at Wembley CTS studios and not some amateur!

It was, but Warner Bros. official download page has been taken down, same as with Part 1. Oddly, the page for the Half-Blood Prince is still working.

Does anyone know how manowweik does his mixing? He’s got a video on YouTube of "Statues" with the string runs mixed in. The album doesn’t have it, not even the sessions have it. Am I missing something?

He probably rips it from the sound mix. Listen closely around 1:15 and you can hear some SFX (thunder sounds).

This was fake. It was the OST with music from the other films mixed in.

Shouldn’t one delete the thread then? It just confuses people 🙂
