Just one thing to point out – something that’s a worrying trend with recording sessions, ‘Dead Crew Members’ is a DVD-rip, but bizarrely has more sfx than my DVD does during the ‘bug attack’ sequence – in other words, someone’s taken the real cue and put sfx over it.

Well that IS the music as heard in the film. The mild bug effects heard in the cue Dead Crew Members are created by the composer and the music team, not SFX team. It’s genuine, deffinitely not DVD rip

I would assume those are SCORE SFX. Like Fidel using metal clanks in the T2 score for example.

Hmm I’m not sure anymore, I’ll give it a full and close listen tomorrow and I’ll see the movie again, but the SFX heard in the cue do not match those in the movie so I don’t see the reason to believe this is dvdrip.

And about the recording and general sound and mix; it is possibly the film mix or something, similar thing happened with The Dark Knight Recording Sessions I believe, where the volume and orchestra were naturally toned down in relation to the OST mix.

Also there’s wealth of alternate tracks (with slight differences), as it always happens with RS material (see Avatar for example)

Ahh yes, around the 2.45 mark. Yeah, I can see why it might be considered SFX alright, though I don’t think it sounds like the insects in the film either, it’s just creepy.

Sweet Jesus, I wish I could start working with that guy–an editing genius. I don’t have any methods of honest-to-God literally removing SFX. All of my strategies revolve around if there’s SFX in one channel, either don’t use it at all or use the other one to produce a mono effect. Damn, we need to find this guy, lol!

There’s no way this is a DVD rip. If it was possible to have this quality from a DVD rip, it would’ve existed years ago. This IS the music itself, no SFX, so don’t worry.

And a super special thank you to 7. I’ve been waiting ever since I first saw the movie to have the "Theater" track. The OST to Kong is a real gyp to omit it.

I will point out that Batman Begins has "fx" in it. The slight chimes in the beginning. The fx involving Crane’s mask. I have not listened to Kong, I just have not had time in the last week or so. But if you are hearing fx, then perhaps it is intentional. A lot of scores use textural sounds and fx, especially horror films. The bug sequence would certainly qualify.

About DEAD CREW MEMBERS, this is no DVD rip. Those insect sounds are intended. They’re synthesizers nothing more and nothing less. Kinda unecessary if you ask me, but maybe the SFX in that scene weren’t enough for JAckson and they wanted to boost the effect. Who knows. Anyway this is how they mixed it for the movie.

The set I made is a direct descendant of the 3 cd leak but includes things not on this such as album alternates, film mixes, etc… I also re-edited tracks and renamed them to their correct titles based on the conductors scores.

I never pressed the edit I made (haven’t in years lol) and I don’t sell stuff. And those are freakin nice covers for the cd’s which I haven’t ever made.

Not special. Just liked and trusted. You are not a fan, I know that. We **all** know that. But the fact is, invite only blogs have been around for a long time, and I am sure you know that. It is what it is. But unlike some, I did not go around saying "oh, I have this, but won’t give it to you". I kept my mouth shut about it.

I doubt any missing track is of great importance. I suspect all relevant material is here. And like Avatar before, enterprising souls will sort it out, and sift it down to a more definitive film version. I also caution against buying anything off of ebay. To me it is common sense, but this auction has only popped up since I and others got the score, barely a week ago. The timing of all this is suspicious to me. I do not want to see anyone get taken. Any fool can run off a cd-r, throw up a track list. And good custom covers were made a week ago. So…just be careful.

You can’t know that. ID4 got released in proper form officially. Avatar was eventually shared @ mostly 320. Whether it exists true lossless, dunno. But consider, I have recording sessions for both Battle Beyond the Stars, and Conan the Destroyer. Both at 320. But the sound sucks, likely because the original recording of them was not authorized. So, the sessions are 320 of a crappy boot source, dig. I understand your impatience, and I am not claiming to know anything about the auction, I am just saying be careful. As for unreleased stuff, there can’t be too awful much left. Probably more alternate takes, or film mixes from the OST. Just…be careful.

And DO NOT buy it just to post here.

If you are not allowed to share, please don’t. I’ll try this one. Since it’s leaked and it’s not a true promo, I don’t think the price will be very high. At least, not as high as "love actually".

Well, I did not see any lossless version yet. I’ve buy a so call Concorde CDr copy, and download from many different source.
All of them are lossy.

OK, it’s impossible this is a dvd rip or a bd rip. But what about those centered instruments very weak like the solo voice, the flutes, the cymbals ? If you listen to the music with headphones, it’s clear that centered instruments are weak, mainly that superb solo voice at 2:33 in the cue "third attack" So what is the explanation for that fact ? If someone has managed to rip with that quality, except the center way, he’s genius ! But the next step is to record the center at the same volume. If you have listened to that solo voice on cd 3, rtack 33, what do you think about ?

I think either enjoy, or not. It is NOT a rip. I think that has been pretty well accepted. Now, you must understand, just because this is a recording of the sessions, does not mean you will get pristine or complete tracks. It is not a film mixed finished complete score. Just as Dark Knight and was not a recording session. You **must** understand what raw recording sessions are and adjust your expectations. They are not always going to be pretty, cd quality sets.

I mean, this version has 104 tracks, and the recording sessions post on Hans Zimmer has 104 tracks. Forget the speech. A speech is not a musical cue.
I think the poster in that private blog intended to mis-title the track number, so that he or she could share everything, but keep people in mind that not to leak it.

How weird… The sheet music set that i have doesn’t contain 8m8. It does have 8ms8 though, which is a Max Steiner track.

I was looking at the tracklist published on the first post an there’s a few errors that confused me a little bit, and it’s that, according to that tracklist, it seems there are 2 tracks missing: number 76 & 77 between "75. 7M8A You’re Writing a Comedy" and "78. 7M10V3 Jack Fieflects". Both would fit as the 8th track of CD 3 missing in the files. And then again, the numbers are repited for "77. 7M10V4 Jack Fieflects" and "78. 8M1 Beauty Stayed His Hand". So either there are 2 missing tracks and the tracklist should be:

I am sorry, but it is not mY archive. I did not keep the track back, my source did. I do not have it either, nor do I know which it is. Do not stress it. I rather doubt it is music not represented in some form already.

I have no way to "catch" anyone, and the storm has cleared. But, in answer to many pm’s, I do not have this "missing" track.

Tracks 5M2 Stampede / 8M3 T Rex & Kong Fight / 8M5 Jawbreaker are my favourite ones.
This is James Newton Howard at his best action film scoring – he delivers the same trademarks already
employed in his scores for THE FUGITIVE and OUTBREAK (winning an Oscar Nomination for the former one).
A may call his score for KING KONG his Magnum Opus as it brings all his composer trademarks / style together.
And maybe the last true score in his very own style before he started to joint-venture / team up with Hans Zimmer
which resulted in influenced by more Media Venture methods.

I remember Peter Jackson saying on the DVD commentary that it was a recording by William Stromberg with the Moscow Symphony Orchestra specifically recorded for the film.

As far as i know, William Stromberg had no involvement with the Peter Jackson remake.
The recording with Stromberg conducting the Moscow Symphony was made for the purpose of release all the original Steiner music in a album. It was neither recorded to be adapted for any version of the original movie, nor for the remake.

Assuming the fact that Peter Jackson mentioned the Stromberg recording, i guess he just took the Steiner fanfare pieces recorded by Stromberg, and included them in his movie.

Just recently I was complaining that the American release was missing some of my favorite pieces to a friend and then I go browsing and here it is! Thank you. And I as a member of a concert band I would LOVE to have the written score.No matter how long. Of course it’s up to whomever has it. Hal Leonard released "highlights" but I can’t force myself to shelve out the 80 bucks for it. So if anyone who has it or knows where I can get it let me know. But thanks for this.

May I suggest to upload the links in this same thread? I don’t see the point in creating new threads for just a reupload. In terms of order and cohesion is much better to have only one thread that 5 different threads with just the same upload. It gets more difficult to track every one of them when you’re looking for something.
