I’ve been hearing everywhere that FFVII works just fine on PS2, so when I got the actual game today I was excited. I put it in my PS2, and I get endlessly repeating intro credits. It never gets to the menu, just keeps repeating from the Squaresoft logo to the end of the credits. It does the same on my fatty and my slim. What’s going on?

Have you tried pressing the circle button on the control pad? If I remember rightly, the game just cycles the credits until you press a button on the control pad.

Otherwise, I do remember also that certain PSX games malfunction on the PS2 if you’ve turned on ‘smooth polygons’ or increase the loading speed. If these PS2 functions are turned on, switch them off and try running the game again.

No buttons worked, but I got it to run now so never mind.

PS: I never knew PS2 had those options. o.o

As far as I remember, FFVII doesn’t have dual shock support, so make sure the analog mode is off. Otherwise the controller won’t work at all.
As long as the dual shock mode isn’t on, Circle should skip the intro credits.

EDIT: Oh, it works now? Any idea of what was the issue?

Probably a disc error, not sure. It just randomly worked.
