OK, Takehiro-san… Now that I’ve listened to the 2-disc recording sessions of The Dark Knight, here’s my verdict. Each and every track stays true to the original full-length motion picture. Not only the dynamic duo of Hans Zimmer & James Newton Howard had done an EPIC job composing the film, but I want to tip my hat off to you for making it happen. On my 1 to 10 scale, I give it a FIFTY!!!!!!!

Until the temperature stays above 50 degrees Fahrenheit, keep up the most outstanding work!!!!!!!!

I’ll second that with FLAC. While MP3 VBR is good, I still prefer lossless. I know that most people can’t hear the difference but I do notice and it would be nice to hear this in the best quality possible. If that’s not possible, MP3 is fine.

bcmiami, I extracted some of the unreleased tracks, but lossy 160k, and not all of them. My comp is still incomplete. I think the user in question was Samurai. Does anybody know him? He should have the real deal.

Is it 100% complete? Should I hold on to "concert suites" from the official release (Harvey Two-Face, Why So Serious?, A Dark Knight)? Are those legitimate suites or just cut-and-paste medleys with their material already covered in these recording sessions?

Its 100% complete. The suites on the OST contain some unused/alternate versions (more or less instrumentation) but theres also a bit of overlap (The Ferries part for one).

From my opinionated perspective, this complete recording sessions are THE REAL DEAL!!!!!! 100% of the film scores are in two discs.

Zimmer should’ve released this instead of that overprocessed, compressed, clipped mess of two albums. This is just so much better, and it’s an easier-on-the-ears listen.

Is there some reason that CT isn’t being referred to by name? Almost feels like referring ‘he who must not be named’ 🙂

It just seems that the way the unreleased tracks were leaked, that it should have been out by now. Imeem of all places (when Imeem still existed), by a user whose name sounds a lot like Takehiro, but I might be mistaken. He also went by the name of Samurai and had a huge scores playlist and i came upon CT OST with additional tracks. The names were even more vague than Zimmer chose for the commercial tracks.

The link works fine by me. Sometimes, it may take while for the download volume to slow down. I had that same experience that you had… and in about a few hours, it works.

I dont think this is complete, the film has many more cues than that. For example, no boxing montage is included by the look of it, or the cool Hunter Killer track.

That’s not your browser, that’s the site detecting your IP adress – either someone else is using your connection and downloading from megaupload (and downloading a LOT as ive downloaded several files from megaupload one after another immediately, gigabytes worth before i got that message), or your ISP is splitting your IP between you and most likely several other people.
You’ll probably get the same probelm with loads of other sites, oron, rapidshare, filesonic, most likely will tell you if you try to download from them that you either have exceeded the maximum for the day or will tell you that you already currently are downloading from them.

You could try using a proxy site, or try reseting your modem so your ISP refreshes your ISP (if you don’t have a permenant IP), depends on who your ISP is and how you are connected through them, for a cable connection (always on) try switching off (at the mains switch) your modem for 10 mins, then restart it, that may do the trick.

Comparing both tracklists, my guess is, he stole it from another board, where that item should have been exclusive and then leaked it here. A FLAC version is unlikely, only this VBR-version is available for now.

Let me start by saying I was VERY skeptical that this was real, but I just got done listening to it and WOW….if it isn’t real, my ears are fooled. I don’t know where you got a hold of something like this, and I almost don’t want to know, but I thank you for sharing something so amazingly awesome.

I can’t count the different versions of Zimmer’s Batman that I have – but this is a better class of expanded release. I also love that for once the front cover has not the Joker in it! 😉

That’s just it – he didn’t need to do anything to it because that’s how the original recording sounds. Unfortunately when they were assembling the albums they decided to compress all the range in this music and clip the hell out of it.

NEVER going to happen, and personally, for me, it’s too late, i was one of the people who not only bought the original batman befins and dark knight scores, then pre-ordered the 2cd version of TDK only to find it included the first cd, and then a half assed cash in second cd which really added about as much enjoyment to listening to the score as having a route canal.
If they did release it to buy now, i wouldnt buy it as ive had it with them releasing a ‘compilation’ cd only for an extended or full version to be released. I have all 3 of John Powell’s Bourne movie scores bought, but they never get used as whenever im listening to them, i listen to the extended or 2cd versions of them as they are more complete. No matter that in order to get these complete versions i had to illegally download them.

Assholes, all of them, record studio executives are now a step up the ladder ABOVE lawyers, at least lawyers are open about it when they are gonna screw you over for everything you’ve got and give you back f**k all in return. I suppose the best word would be… Scum.

The composers should have ownership rights on music they have created that is NOT included on a CD release, and the studio should have a limited time to option wether or not they will include said tracks on an official cd release, that way when everyone’s bought it who is going to buy it, they can release the remaining tracks for free. That’s how they should do it, they would sell the cd’s containing the tracks they have chosen, and if fans want the rest, the fans should get them.

Sorry to rant, but im tired, and this is a subject that REALLY pisses me off, very, VERY easily.

I use my ears! Music is my passion. Also, using headphones while watching the film really helps me to analyze the score better. Then I use my very expensive recording/editing/mixing equipment… simply put. It’s a process, but also a labor of love 🙂

Agreed, i’ve heard plenty of ‘recording session’ releases, but only a handful of them i would consider living up to this title, the others are all more or less just a complete movie score as they have the entire score edited from the sessions but nothing else. One of the best genuine recording sessions i have heard was Jerry Goldsmith’s score to Executive Decision, it has re-takes, alternate takes, and even a retake of the last 30 seconds of a 5 minute track, where they had a perfect take but the ending screwed up, so they re-did the last 30 seconds, and it must have been edited together for the proper track. Strange but very enlightening.

I had this conversation with a friend recently, he was amazed when he came over to my place and i had the score to die hard playing, and he couldnt place it but recognised it. I even went through as the music was playing saying the lines in the movie to convince him, and eventually he got it.

Personally i have a better memory for sounds than i do for images, so whenever i see something if it makes an impression i can remember the sound of it in great detail (down to inflections in a person’s voice – something that having alternate takes in a trailer and the final movie sometimes is annoying – for an example of this look at alien resurrection, Ripley’s line ‘I died’ is said differently in the trailer than in the film, it puts a different spin on how she views her death, sadly i preferred the trailer version).

It also is annoying when they have an alternate piece of music in a movie than is on the released score. When i go to a cinema and watch a movie, i’m always aware of the music in the scene, whereas some people are oblivious to it, in hindsite they don’t even realise it’s there if it’s underscoring a scene, it plays to them subconsciously and has an emotional effect that they didnt realise.

I listened closely to this set and realized that a batch normalise might have been done, as some intimate tracks sound very harsh and therefor clash with the action cues in their fullness. All it took was some evaluation and renormalising to 50% or even 30% for a more even flow of ambience-suspense-action.

I’m sure a lot happens between leaving the recording studio and to carrier format (eg: cd). There is the mixdown from multiple channels and a high frequency to general redbook etc for one. It adds to the fun to do one’s own ‘final mix’ of the set. That said, I still think this is one of the best catches ever to hit the streets.

I had the entire TDK score figured out cue for cue, long before this "Recording Session" release. Rather I should say I had the 2 Disc OST figured out… which cues went where from the suites Zimmer created and such.

I don’t have much to say other than this is vastly superior in every way to those commercial albums, both in range, editing and overall quality.

I haven’t heard anything in the way of normalization going on, so if there is some it’s so subtle compared to the mess of the commercial albums.

Also, while THIS score may not see another release simply because there have been two already, don’t count it out completely and definitely don’t count out Begins. I say that because LLL is committed to releasing ALL the Batman music they can, and there is only one album they cannot release in an expanded form: "Batman and Robin" by Elliot Goldenthal. The reason for that is because that film never had a score album release and they are only allowed to release expanded versions of Batman albums released before, so both Begins and this score do qualify.

But Begins is not owned by Warner Bros. Wont that cause issues?

IMO, the LP rip (even converted to 16bit) of the Dark Knight album posted on this forum a few while ago is far superior to anything I’ve heard for this score. It hasn’t the CD version mastering at all.

And I’m fine with their selection, more musicaly oriented.

I didn’t want too much to listen to anything today, so this silent music was the ideal to let me concentrate on my work.

I almost didn’t notice CD1, until the last track wich wakes you up… but after a bunch of tracks on CD2 I became really entertained and all that I heard for a long while until the end really blown the original album selection away. Wow ! THAT was a listening experience !!!

… So, is it just me or am I right thinking the CD2 and mostly the 2nd part of it makes let’s say 80% of the score ?

If you want me to repeat a "famous" spanish guy’s forever formula for complete scores covers, that’s a *fail* :). Not sure though I totally understood what you see exactly cause the full credits are very long and would make the inlay art I made useless.

I’d probably be best described as the exact opposite of a Zimmer fan, but for whatever reason (subject matter probably playing a big factor here) I LOVE these Batman scores he and James Newton Howard have done. The well-known Zimmer "action movie" sound which has made him so famous, is something I’ve never enjoyed at all, except in these two Batman scores.

As a Horner nut I’ve seen more than my fair share of hatred against my favorite composer’s music, and although that’s not what I’m doing here, I’m not hating on Zimmer’s music at all, I do indeed believe in To Each Their Own. 🙂 We’re all fans here and that’s what matters most – bonding over that not separating over that. I love the Zimmer Bat scores, and I am forever indebted to you for the chance to hear these in their superior forms.

The number of posts to qualify is more like 6, but as he still only has 2 posts he’s obviously not that bothered…

Some people claim the number is 5, but 6 is the lowest figure I’ve actually seen myself where the facility is enabled.
It may be 5, but I’ve not actually seen evidence of that; part of the problem is the time-delay after the count qualification is reached. The delay occurs whilst waiting for a software routine to run on the forum database.

Agree with all. What about "Final Studio mix – Complete film score"? Sounds good to me. It seems as precise as what we know about it… Not too, neither too much… Something tells me a definitive film mix would have sounded with some clarity enhancement, wich doesn’t seem to be the case here.

"Storming Pruitt Building" had some obvious edits in the film that were not present on this cue heard here, specifically the Joker ‘sting’ which was repeated in the film so it played twice, but not here – here it’s just as it was on the actual album, playing only once.

Also "I’m Not a Hero" has an actual ending that doesn’t just cut to the loud pounding percussion heard in "A Dark Knight".

I’m also thinking of a cue from "Avatar", where there was a film-edit version recorded in addition to an album version recorded. It was the cue "Climbing up Ikinimaya". The music was edited prior to recording to shorten it and that could easily have been the case here with TDK.

There are basically some subtle hints like that which make it clear it was more a case of being recorded that way versus any post-editing done to the music.

Ok. That’s why I posted several tries: to hear any one speak his mind out. The least detail can be a headache to decide sometimes. But the vertical line is to help you know where to fold the cover as it’s all black here (and I always give a light cutter strike on it to fold it straight as I use strong paper)… I faded it now but it’s still there.

You know what, I’m glad to hear that: I knew the credits where easily foundable online (Zimmer fans site if I remember) but I love the LP arts and was delighted to use them instead ! Haha.

It depends on individual anality of course, but I just noticed that, according to TDK dvd chapters, the name of the building being stormed by Batman and the SWAT is spelled Prewitt, not Pruitt (as in Pruitt Igoe). Just thought I’d mention it.

The one on Paradox is lossy and full of source cues – ripped from more lossy sources! But the lossless one IS on there too.

Someone in slsk yestaday told me that he had batman begins recording sessions, in lossless. But if I want it, I’ll have to pay for it……

DON"T pay for it. You have no way at all to verify it is real. And Tak here said he was working on it. Recording sessions in lossless is an amazing trick. If he means a complete score, i can see it. But recording sessions are, by there nature, not the same. The term gets bandied about often these day, and I wonder if folks know what to expect from true recording sessions anymore???

you do know, these are not recording sessions, yes? The 5 cd avatar, those were recording sessions. These are complete scores that have been leaked, but that is different. You guys may not like the recording sessions, since they would be raw, unmixed score, sometimes not even complete tracks, with alt takes, inserts etc. That is not what this Dark Knight is, and likely not Begins.

Recording Sessions are great, and if there is to be a complete score release instead, I’ll take it.

Guys – sometimes a film score doesnt necessarily have recording sessions. Either way, you could call the complete score a recording sessions too. Sometimes, also, "recording sessions" can refer to an incomplete score. The Blade recording sessions, for example, are really long and full of alternates but still incomplete.

As are the Sessions for Troy. Nowhere near complete. The Battle Beyond The Stars Sessions, and the Conan The Destroyer sessions, while interesting, and encoded in 320, are from a poor source, and sound muddy at best….

Don’t forget the Black Cauldron, sound muffled and mono.

Recording Sessions: Every piece of music recorded for the film, like the 5 CD Avatar you mentioned. Because that included outtake, unreleased and extended tracks.
Complete Score: Everything heard in the film, no alternates or unreleased tracks.

They often include multiple takes of the same tracks, unedited cues, and short bits of music, called inserts. Due to the nature of these recordings, they are often the raw music. Not mixed or balanced or anything.

Complete scores can be recording sessions. But usually are leaked versions of the final score. They can include unedited tracks and alt takes, but most often are mixed and such. The complete score, but not necessarily released….

Depends. Are there fx? If so, it’s..nothing. A dvd rip. No fx…could be a complete score. Its hard to label these definitively. Expanded material can come from clean rips, unused cues showing up in games, all kinds of things. But, if it has fx, if it is a rip, then that is all it is….

Nah. I….blush….have never listened to either transformers score… I have never been tempted. Didn’t really care for the films to much.

Same here. The scores for the Transformers series aren’t bad…but I’ve never felt compelled to own/archive them. It’s cool that that stuff is out there, though.

I give up on some of that, you know? And, every time you dl a giant archive, that turns out fake, sigh. So, I kinda hang back on a lot of that stuff these days. Like all the various Transformers 2, Pirates, and tron Legacy stuff. Just…call me when it’s all sorted..:D

Hah, that’s exactly the complete size of my hard drive! 🙂

I had a 40GB hard drive for years, so I just back up everything to DVD-R. That way I can delete whatever I want and never regret it.

I was using DVD-Rs until I went back months later, and they were corrupted. I burned at low speeds and kept them stored well, but it didnt help. So I went out and got myself a USB hard drive. Never looked back!

Ive got a TaraByte external, i still use DVD’s, but only if they’re Verbatim. If not, then I check the discs 6 months later and re-archive them.
Or try to remember at least lol.

I was a Sony DVD-R user until I found Verbatim. They’re all I use. Nowadays I backup to be on the safe side since my laptop has a 500GB drive in it. My one big want is to be able to one day use BD-R for backup, but I’ll probably get a TB-size hard drive long before that.

my few gigabytes of hard disk space only function as a temporary storage for music … in almost every case it ends up on a MD … it’s the most reliable optical medium I know. And sometimes I use Hi-MDs for lossless recordings …

*drools* BD-R backups…Dual Layer BD-Rs…you can probably fit an entire discography of just about any one artist in lossless….

I do a LOT of video editing and my wanting a Blu-ray burner has more to do with taking those files and reducing the number of discs.
Also, if you’re like me and convert your Television series DVDs to video files, storing an entire season on one or two BD-Rs versus 6 dual-layer DVDs or 12 single-layer DVDs, well, forget it the benefit is obvious. 🙂

I have 4 HardDisc, total 4TB.

Well, one reason i don’t keep flac in storage. And why i don’t collect items just to have. If I don’t like it, or don’t end up listening to it, it goes. That is part of a problem with my older links. Once they get deleted, I often don’t have the item anymore to re-up…..

So happy listening to this! It had pretty much everything in perfect quality (at least to my ears). I wound up keeping the Why So Serious?, Harvey Two-Face, and A Dark Knight suites from the ost for the unreleased music, and A Watchful Guardian from the special edition because I wasn’t crazy about the recording sessions separating it into a few different tracks. So thankful I caught it here first!

It was locked, because there was nothing left to say. The op does not want to post openly, and i am ignoring any requests posted in the thread. have said so many times. And yet….I accept all pm requests though. But since all that is being posted are various requests, locking the thread is the best way. We are still somewhat uncertain how closely followed this set is, given the legal threats received by the op within like 20 min of it being posted. So, for now, quieter may be better, and take a wait and see approach, if ya dig.

The Batman Begins 3CD complete score is exceptionnaly good, far more than I would have ever expected ! TDK doesn’t have such a weight in regard.

I got this in FLAC from Takehiro. Burned them to CD to listen in the car. My hard drive crashed, then a week ago my car crashed (with the CD’s inside!)…unfortunately my Ford Focus doesn’t have a Bat-Pod eject sequence so I now no longer have a copy. Would really appreciate this in FLAC again as it’s awesome!

Yeah, that concerns me too. Although in Zimmer I trust. He has never disappointed me in a score yet, except maybe for On Stranger Tides. And I doubt that Christopher Nolan will let a mediocre score be attached to the epic finale in one of the greatest trilogies to ever be on film. Still looking forward to this; July 2012 can’t get here soon enough.

But when it comes to the 2nd half of the 2nd CD not only the music becomes more entertaining, but also the "quality" (let’s put it that way) too and there’s no such need to have the bass down on your equipment, though it still varies from a track to the following.

Aaaah. I would be tempted to give it a shot (fix) one of these days, but that would require first to gather all the infos on what is what and how to use what. Perhaps in a special thread. That gets me wondering if there may be others leaked sources in the previous Takehiro’s TDK "complete score. I’m sure JHFan is well advanced regarding those questions too and I’d be tempted to ask him for an audio file of his TDK reconstruction. But I’d understood if he wouldn’t help, such efforts need some recognition at a point (marcorea, you’re actually the only one who have given an idea of any improvement through feedback for the BB set I posted over more than 800 downloads in a week for now ! Some may still wonder how far it can be worth the deal…).

Yeah, your version is an huge improvement. I can hear everything going on in each track. nothing is booming in your ear. and the way you edited tracks into one single track is perfect. No annoying pauses that loses pace listening to it.

LOL yeah i know actually now that i noticed the interrogation score on this album is shorter than the one we got on the recordings! it was the same track from the studio released 2 disc score….thats why its 3% lol but oh well im still happy with it 😀

Exactly what I said. No need to compare note for note tho. The mixing is just too complex with overlays added all the way. And I’m certainly among you the one that knows the less that score.

But yep, I watched the movie four weeks ago and mostly noticed the exact same lacks, the same volume jumps, and the same mastering most of all.

Btw, the original leak of BB was indeed a 3-discs. But the 3rd disc I posted is not the not so interesting alternate mixes from the leak. These are my own remixes, notably with the ost. I have the feeling nobody cares about that one anyway (and I may understand).

Old school or not, any digital calculations and exportations implie losses. You can have "more" or "less", depending on some basic knowledge about it. 😉 But I guess as a musician you certaily know that.

Unfortunately, I’ve found at FSM any discussion of the items openly on display here, will send one to the Bastille. Weeks ago, some person appeared on that site stating they had informed the powers (record industry) of sites dealing in ‘boots.’ Oh, my god… I said the forbidden word.

Zeratul13, thanks for the Pixar Cast and Crew CD info. Located a site last year which has a few Disney films with material on 2 cds. Most of my time is downloading. Never uploaded, so will have to figure that one out to pass material along to anyone wanting items. Busy working on pc at the moment and checking email ever so often. If the powers that be refuse to release my music in a complete form, people will, as you say: ‘steals from you?’ On the other hand I am not attempting to be a ‘pirate.’ I just want the music and will go to means (the net) to acquire that music. Time and effort should be spent not on calling people pirates or aiding bootleggers, but on approaching those in possession of the music, informing them there is a market. Now, I’ve wasted time, which could have been spent on my writings which needs to be done by the end of July or locating more downloads…

Assuming you have actually downloaded the RAR file…

You need appropriate software to unpack the file before it can be played.

There are many different software packages that can be downloaded from the Internet, depending on what kind of computer you are using. You should be able to find something suitable using a Google search.

It’s general knowledge, EVERYONE should know to say thanks when directly asking. It may just be me, but I especially notice this becuase I work in retail. When someone doesn’t thank me for asking me to do something for them, it gets to me

to those people: I get it. It sucks if you feel unappreciated, but as was said before – if you go out looking for kudos as "payment" for uploads, you’re going to be disappointed. For the better part of the last 3 years I’ve been a moderator on a forum with close to 100,000 members. So I’m used to being viciously attacked for trying to help out, never mind simply never thanked. The point is that you need to get over the desire for the ego boost and be happy that what you’re doing is making other people happy whether they express it publicly, privately, or not at all.

Guys, I’m having major problems with the download, it’s just freezing constantly every 5 minutes, and if I pause the download, the whole thing dies. Is it a problem with me or has someone else experienced it before?

Basically, it’s just being tempramental…

Rapidshare now restricts download speeds for free users. This can cause pausing, which can result in downloads failing.

Jdownloader seems to handle this okay.

I’ve tried to download this 3 times without JDownloader and it’s failed. OK, if this doesn’t work, I will ask someone to make an alternate onto Mediafire. Getting it again this time normally since JDownloader’s being detected as malicious software on my comp and it won’t download/open/install.

Ahh frustrating sometimes it seems like a rapidshare link is no different than a dead link. Not being able to resume downloads while rapidshare stops them whenever they feel like causing a restart means most people won’t be able to get it.

I think I like complete, but not FLAC. Storage-wise. So if I don’t find mp3 elsewhere I guess I’ll convert it myself.

It is FLAC, but a transcode, so MP3 quality with FLAC’s size.

I suspect you are having trouble seeing. The link in the first post IS LONG DEAD.

The link you should be clicking on is in post 587 (2 posts above yours).

The site you were directed to WAS a real site.. or you wouldn’t have been able to get there.

Also, people don’t upload links, they post them. They upload files. Links become inactive, that is part of life.

Yes, what are you missing ?. If you are using the link on page 1, post 1… that is 3 years old and long dead. If you are not then it helps if you say which link you are using, as this thread is 25 pages long.

I followed those instructions and it’s asking me to download instantly with a social networking site (One Click Download). Usually sites like this just download the file without asking for you to do so via social network which by the way I don’t have anymore.

What I don’t explain myself it’s why there are so many differents complete scores out there.

I dicovered this one today that it’s the real complete score, but I had already a version without a track in every disc, so with 56 track instead 58, why does anybody want to remove two tracks and share it?

I was able to download the .rars successfully but I can’t open them… it says the file (I’m assuming it means the contents) is not fully supported. Is it a bad download or something I’m doing wrong trying to open it?

I think you need to select all the folders together & extract, rather than one at a time.
