Piano arrangements of popular Disney songs in the style of Chopin. It’s an excellent album, you’ll enjoy it if you also liked Nakazono’s Chopin de Ghibli pieces. Credit goes to sunleth (http://community.livejournal.com/7music/48602.html) for the original rip.
If anyone is looking for the Ghibli album, you can find it posted here: Thread 80591
Thank you, Firestorm & Sunleth, whoever you may be, for your efforts.
And, as for the rest of it… just glorious, simply magnificent. Wonderful, playful arrangements (some of them seem to be genuinely channeling Chopin’s technique, whereas others are clearly based upon some of Chopin’s actual compositions – notably, the Minute Waltz receiving a breathtaking change of clothes and transmogrifying into Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!,) superlative performance from the stunning Ms Nakazono, and a massively fun selection.
Thank you, Japan, for having this much class when the rest of the world has more-or-less abandoned it.
Or, indeed, each to his own… 😉
As for the similarities, the Minute Waltz is the only one I have outright identified, mainly because I’m rather rusty with my Chopin… but I know there are more that are modelled on specific pieces but my dim and distant memory is not telling me what they are… Perhaps I should dig out my Chopin LPs… 🙂
Just discovered Nakazono-san by chance, and her creation is beautiful; who would’ve thought that Chopin goes well with Ghibli, and Disney! (aha rhyme~)
