I don’t think these ones have been released in any form, including bootlegs. Two tracks from My Heroes Have Always Been Cowboys, the theme from The Pursuit of D.B. Cooper, and the theme from Volunteers were bootlegged, but I believe that’s it.

From the official My Heroes Have Always Been cowboys OST: 2 tracks: Going Home and In Training

Anything else is a dvd rip, or worse, a vhs rip.

i can say that the "expanded" willow clocks in only 4 min. longer than the OST. I suspect mostly it is broken up cues, or something along those lines. I have seen a 2 cd "complete Willow talked about, but it is apparently a dvd rip with fx.

Here’s a challenge: I cannot place this music from the Finding Neverland teaser trailer (beginning at 00:25). It’s definitely James Horner and SOUNDS like A Beautiful Mind, but it’s NOT from A Beautiful Mind — at least, the commercially released CD — as far as I can tell.

The problem with the Troy sessions is that not only are they raw performance rehearsals of the same couple of cues (Hector’s Death and Through the Fires, Achilles…and Immortality being the two most oft-repeated) but they suffer from a LOT of CD skipping-like glitches. At the same time you do hear a lot of Horner’s talk with the orchestra during rehearsals and his talks with the solo vocalist Tanja Tzarovska.

I downloaded The Perfect Storm as a supplement for my CD which is scratched (the Mellencamp song skips) but the rar would not extract, password or no password, it’s just saying it cannot open as an archive. I even re-downloaded it to make sure and it’s the same.

Track 12: medley: swallowed alive/the wonder in books. Like I said, the first two are VA songs, and I may have just not worried about it. i knew there was **something** about this album I needed to fix, just did not remember what. My media player has this really infuriating habit of splitting albums for some reason. Often a track gets shunted into "unknown album" and I have to hunt it down, only to have it refuse to move. Grrr

Well I said the thing about Rarities was because I was trying to find the year and such and see what exactly it was and I was having trouble through Google.

About The Spiderwick Chronicles, I have the original soundtrack, then the 2 CD one you uploaded and I don’t see any of the original songs in your 2 CD edition. Are they renamed or? Because I’d think your 2 CD edition would have the original plus more.

The Rarities album is a fan-made bootleg, not an official album, so you ay have trouble nailing that down. But, some of the tracks on there are not available anywhere else. It’s sort of a take it or leave it deal, mainly for a die hard completist. I am mildly ashamed to say that i have not listened to the Chronicles just yet. I believe, though, that it is score only. Track names are likely renamed. JHFan would be better able to tell you that. I am a fan, in that i enjoy the music, but have not done any real research. He is a fan in that he has done way TOO much research….joking. No but seriously, he is a font of info….

The Spiderwick Chronicles is the complete score.

The track titles are different because the cues are different.

The cues are Horner’s original, as-written, unedited cues with his own track titles.

The other reason for the difference in the titles is that the regular soundtrack album presents most of the music in suite form, meaning several of those shorter cues edited together (sometimes not in order, but instead for musical flow) to make longer ones.

The bonus tracks, you’ll notice, have the same titles as a couple of tracks on the regular soundtrack album. That’s because they are the same edited cues.

I do indeed to a lot of research because I love Horner’s music THAT much.

Not sure there is a need since I have it in 320. I don’t hear a different from FLAC to 320. But I hear it if it’s under 320. I’m thinking on ripping FLAC to 448.

That cue is actually the "Casper The Friendly Ghost" theme, and it’s a shame Horner’s arrangements of it never made the album release.

I couldn’t really make any more that would’ve been as clean as this and be in stereo, unlike the DVD-rip of the mono rear channels that’s been floating around as an expanded score for a number of years so this was it and thought it’d make a good second track, which it is chronologically anyway.

Yup. 😀 The album feels like it’s missing something without it, and like you said, all that’s out there otherwise are rear channel rips.

BTW Regarding the Rareities archive, in it is a Perfect Storm track called Longliners. What is rare about it as I though most of that music was already in one of the existing CD tracks.

My understanding is just a slight edit of music already on the ofiicial release. Many of the tracks on the various rareties albums are redundant now, as many have had official releases since that compilation was first mads. (it is a fan made thing, from a few years ago).

I can make a new James Horner thread, and repost links. But they were being actively targeted before, and it’s a lot of fuss for them to get deleted in a day or so. ANYONE who wants a Horner album, pm me. I have anything on official release, and a few things not. And, if I don’t, I know some who do. (though I do not have all in lossless, so 320 is probably the best I can offer, with a few exceptions.)

expansion and "remastering"

The extended "Master Alarm" was mainly taken from the official album which segued into dialoge. So I applied a slight fade-out at the end. The first seven seconds of this new edit were taken from the promo as the official album was too loud.

Removed some slight digital noise from "Docking" and "Four More Amps". Performance noises were left untouched, of course.

No "For Greater Glory," the film that came out a few months back based on the Cristiada war. There was no official release for James Horner’s music.

It’s tightly under wraps at the moment. It may be a little while before it gets leaked.

Actually i saw somewhere that varese had released it, in August, however i have also seen an possible october release, so it seems it’s not out yet, but on the verge of being released.

I think that scorepranos mentioned at the spiderman complete score thread about having the Cristiada scoring sessions. Also, the movie has a lot of music so the Varese edition isn’t complete.

"Cristiada" was indeed the film’s original title. Then it was changed to "For Greater Glory" and eventually "For Greater Glory: The True Story of Cristiada".

If you look for "Cristiada" on facebook, the page you’ll find is Spanish since they retained the original title for the Mexican release but originally it was all English and features several photo albums by the film’s director of the Horner scoring sessions.

It was going to be a major release, then couldn’t find a major studio distributor (Fox did it in Mexico at least) and the whole marketing was centered around this whole idea of it being a Catholic Church-supported religious film.

That 17 track mp3 album you have is indeed my custom version of it.

I didn’t upload lossless (though since all the unreleased cues are from the DVD, they weren’t truly lossless) because I didn’t (and still don’t right now) have the WAV files on my computer. All of my WAV music is burned to Blu-ray discs.
