Thanks for this (assuming it is the full score, as the file is still downloading as of right now).
Been wanting this score for ages, so I finally summoned the will to hunt it down. After finding this upload, I went and checked out the official album. WOW! Studios really know how to fuck-up great scores, don't they! So, thank you for uploading this score without the dialogue. I've always loved the end credits music, so I'm glad that I'll finally have a high-quality version of it (the one I currently have was recording from the DVD using my laptop microphone. And it sounds just as bad as you might expect).

Most of this-almost all- is directly from the Academy promo.

One of my favorite Horner scores, and one of my favorite scores of all time! Main Title, All Systems Go - The Launch, Master Alarm, Darkside of the Moon, Re-Entry and Splashdown and End Titles are all truly amazing cues!
The ending of the splashdown cue is one of the greatest I have ever heard I think (And I always get goosebumps when everything kicks in after all the suspense lol), and when the camera zooms in on the captain in the end is just blissful. Mesmerizingly scored.

I was in Germany when the movie came out. For some reason the CD was available where I was weeks before I saw it. I remember listening and thinking bah, this is just another Horner rehash, low piano strum and bells and all. I was talking to a friend back in the States over the phone saying that's it, I've had it with Horner. Then I saw the movie. I called him and said I take everything back. It all works so freakin' well in the film. We all know his tendencies, but the guy can score a movie ;)

Since my edit is rather old and noobish, and on the occasion of the emergence of Apollo 13's recording sessions (
http://forums.ffshrine.org/f92/james-horner-~-apollo-13-complete-recording-134525/), I got me a fresh rip of the promo and re-worked it from scratch. This time I also included the original version of Master Alarm and kept the extended track as a bonus.
Check the opening post (

Those covers OP linked to (not in the first post, I mean that link in post 10 that takes you to those 2 low-res covers) really look amateurishly made (grey surface of the base cover, and black bacground for apollo 13 text, poor copy paste work).
Here's a different front cover for expanded score (not my work so credits go to it's creator) you can edit the type of album above title to suite yourselves
Another version:
Front cover for promo score (not the b&w version)

If you've still got this I'm very interested. My personal CD of the Apollo 13 Promo score has deteriorated to the point that many of the tracks are skipping and popping. Need to find a good quality digital version again.

Hey.
The main content of this release was taken from the promotional score album. Two pieces had some slight digital noise which was removed.
Compared to the promo,... and apart from the remastering... did you change anything else than adding this:
13 03:50 Master Alarm/Bad News (album version)
Mine seems to have only 7:01... did you change something here?
[QUOTE=sinus;1613923]12  07:05  End Credits
Cheers.

I don't know your version. Is it the official album?
I don't have the original album so I cannot compare. Maybe you can do. :)
But I didn't make changes apart from noise removal - the word "remastering" is a little bit exaggerated. ^^

I don't know your version. Is it the official album?
With "promo" I meant this one:
https://musicbrainz.org/release/4a49a5c9-200d-47f1-a518-69eae9e176d5
I just wondered whether the one you present here is identical to that + the track you've added (which I guessed my come from the "normal" album version?).
Cheers!
jemima321
08-26-2016, 11:33 PM
I checked track 13 and from a first glance on the spectrogram it seems lossless, but it doesn't match the "Master Alarm" track from the "normal" OST, i.e. track 13 from
https://musicbrainz.org/release/0ffdfd66-0003-4a99-bcc0-b7fa44ed88bf.
On the OST this is all gapless and thus fades with the previous/next tracks.
It also doesn't seem to be the same than any of the Master Alarm tracks in you recording sessions (
Thread 134525)...
Not sure whether this is actually a clean leak from somewhere or just an edited version from track 13 from the OST with the start and end faded in/out.
Cheers

jemina,
I think your deductions are quite right. It's been a while since I touched this project. But I try to remember it for you. :)
Track 13 here emulates and prolongues the album version by combining the album/promo version of Master Alarm with the album fade to Bad News. It then changes to the Bad News material from the sessions, thus eliminating the chatter of the album.
While adding track 13 as a bonus it might of course be that I added silence to track 12 (End Credits) for a better listening experience.
(I don't have the original promo anymore, so I cannot compare track 12.)
So, yes the promo is identical to my edit (minus track 13) BUT also features several pops and clicks. ;)
The sessions on the other hand feature a different version of Master Alarm (film version?) and also as an alternate, a slightly different longer album version of Master Alarm which may even be another take or mix.
