I am pondering…..

So some time ago I asked a question here (Thread 76484) on if it was possible to have a separate bulletin area in the personal profile that we could put in whatever we wanted and (and now that I think about it) have no character cap. No answer was given and I can’t seem to find anything on the net about vbulletin having a feature like it. So I’m guessing my wish will fall by the wayside.

Currently I’m using my visitor messages area to keep links to my threads and uploads, and it’s been getting difficult to keep anything in any kind of order due to the character cap. So here’s what I’ve been pondering (and I’ve pondered this months ago too but that was before the board segregation)…. I could make a thread to put all my links in and make a thin banner to put in my sig for it…. But the problem is that I have a bit of everything in my links (movie tracks, game stuff, anime stuff). If I made a master thread to my links I have no idea where I would put it. 🙁 This is what I am pondering… where could I make a master thread for all my links? 🙁 I’m not really looking for anyone to post in the thread I make, I just find it incredibly handy for myself to have an index of sorts that other people can see too, but I wants some more room to work with…. If a thread is locked, can the op edit the first post? That could be helpful, but I don’t think it works that way does it?

I think I’m rambling……….. Anyone care to ponder with me?

I’m not familiar enough with the vBulletin features, but I do think this could make for a very logical implementation. I support your ponderation 🙂

You should still be able to edit the first post of a locked thread.

I’d wait for Jessie to weight in on where you should make it, though.

I guess depending on where it’s put it may not need to be locked,………….. but I can imagine it turning into a ‘derpderp upload dis ting you don’t have for me kthxbai’ kind of situation….

I’m guessing that the majority of links are for game and anime/j-pop music? So this is what could be done.

Post it in either the anime or vgm section, i’ll sticky the thread (because it’s gonna be an index thread) i’ll lock it (so nobody can ask you to upload stuff) and move it to the the other section and leave a permanent redirect from that section, so it’ll be in two sections at once. The fact that it’s locked would mean you’d have to either ask me to open the thread again for updates or ask me to update it for you. I don’t mind doing either, as i’m pretty much on here all the time now. But it’s up to you what you’d like to do.

it’s not even strictly necessary to lock it imo, won’t hurt anything if people reply since you’re mostly just using the first post

*ponder ponder* I like the redirect idea…….. but I don’t see any purpose to sticky the thing since it will only really be for my convenience. Maybe… post it in the Anime Music board first then move it to the VGM board since I have more vg stuff I think…. I think I’ll decide on leaving it unlocked… Ya…. Does that seem ok?
