I was just wondering if it's a feasible idea to add another tab in a user's profile that allows that person (and only that person) to use it as a bulletin area for others to see. We could use the area to say something for ourselves, announcements, post links, pictures.... stuff. It would probably useful for popular posters to be able to tell people that they'll be leaving or something so people won't keep asking them to rip things for them after they're gone....

To me it would help because I want to keep my more important links visible for people. Right now I'm doing that in my visitor area and fighting the urge to make a thread for my links of stuff. But doing it in the visitor area gets messy and there's only so much I can fit in a box.

I just thought it would be a nice idea to have an area like that. Maybe somewhere around a 10,000 character cap...

edit - grrr..... I misspelled suggestion and edit thingy isn't fixing it :( grrr at my long nails....

Since there's some changes happening around here, I thought I'd toss this idea out again.

...can't you actually do that in visitor messages? What would be the difference between that 'new area' and visitor messages? :) Just curious, your idea sounds interesting.

^ Ya, it can be done in the visitor message area and that's what I'm using it for now, but the character cap on those messages is like 800-1000. Now it sounds like a lot but it counts the tags for colors and hyperlinks too. So really, I can't fit very many links into one message box :(

I was thinking maybe we could have a large message box to use in the "About Me" section in our public area or something. That area is severely underused, I think. All it does is show a couple blurbs and that's it. I think it would be great if we could have a normal quick reply message box there. Ideally, it wouldn't have a character cap, that way we could make just one big post for whatever we want and have the ability to edit it whenever we want. Of course, since there is a message section already other posters shouldn't be able to post on our bulletin message, they should only be able to read it.

I don't know if it's a feature that VBulletin can do, but I think it would be a wonderful thing add. :)
