To Porko: should the links die at any point, can we contact u in hopes of a re-up or better yet, it is possible to send a link through PM? and what is DVD-Audio? Are they DVD RIPS with some SFX and.or dialogue??
Lossless rips of the audio track(s) contained on the DVDs, I suppose. About the LOTR: Complete Recordings… Along with the "standard" CDs you get also DVDs that have tracks stored in 5.1 surround format.
U’ve better hurry because i donno if i’ll can reup htem.

Yeap! They are official DVD-Audio 5.1 rips from bonus DVD from Complete Recordings. So NO SFX. They are like on CD but with a HIGHER quality.
how to burn a DVD-A? does it require a special DVD format?
These DVD-Audios are rips in FLAC so u can listen them on foobar2000 or what you always use for lossless. But if u want i can upload images of DVD-Audio to burn them on DVD.

I second that, images of DVD audio.
Better quality also
Better quality also
OK. Ill think about to upload images. But they are HUGE.
@Porko Rosso:can you create a torrent file?
Nope
The Lord of the Rings: The Trilogy by Mask on Napster (http://music.napster.com/mask-music/album/the-lord-of-the-rings%3A-the-trilogy/13250881#s_module=search_album&origin=search)
i hope you get 6 votes
I understand that FLAC is a high-quality compression with no loss of quality.
Technically speaking, however, just how much different is it to have the images as apposed to the FLACs?
If they’re DVD-9’s, that’s a lot to download. And with the current download server (Fileserve), that’ll be a lot of captchas to monitor, even on JDownloader.
If the quality is in fact more superior to the FLACs (that is if the FLACs =/= DVD), I’ll put my vote in for the images.
but I need a more technical review rather than convenience for typical playback (as my puters are setup to the sound system and the FLACs playback flawlessly).
The Lord Of The Rings: The Fellowship Of The Ring

And i dont think that it will be easy to download without premium
I am happy with the FLACs 🙂
I’m not even sure any of my dvd players or the bluray player im getting for xmas can handle DVD-A. none of the manuals specify, so I’m going to be safe and say no.
My dvd player can play DTS-CD’s though.
So I might even decompress the FLACs and convert them to DTS-CD’s for the dvd player.
Just download Faxtab Audio Converter
For what? To make an mp3 ? lol
erm excuse me guys… i’m still new here.. i need to know how do i play this FLAC files? what player do i have to use and where to download? thanks you sooo much in advance … cheers !

Yes
———- Post added at 09:29 PM ———- Previous post was at 09:29 PM ———-
but youre right, FLAC does sound better as it is lossless.
1. maybe mp3 links are dead – I have everything in FLAC so I have not clicked the mp3 links so I don’t know if they’re dead or not
2. Maybe they want the Trilogy Set in mp3.
for those who are asking about mp3, download what is here in mp3 & in the case of the Trilogy set, download the FLAC version & convert it to mp3 using foobar or DVD Videosoft. Both are excellent converters & can convert to other formats as well – WAV is lossless so you won’t lose any quality.
It is the future (you can already see that in Blu-ray Discs), and in 10 years lossy formats will probably be used much less than now.
However I can understand that for someone mp3 would be a better choice, because of the reduced file size.
But once you have transcoded it, there is no way to return back to the original quality :).
but sometimes FLAC dosen’t work on Windows Media Player
He’s got both lossless and lossy uploads.
All this talk about mp3 makes me think…
Maybe they want a different encode. 320kbps Constant bitrate is useless nowadays, it takes too much space, even from a lossy point-of-view. VBR is the way to go when encoding in MP3.
http://www.amazon.com/Lord-Rings-Box-Set/dp/samples/B0002C4GTW/ref=dp_tracks_all_1#disc_1
no offense but i never thought people were still using wmp. VLC plays everything – FLAC, mp3. and everything else. plays every video codec too – avi, mkv, etc. and as far as i know, takes up less space than wmp, which doesn’t play everything. so for me, VLC is the way 2 go – smaller size meani g less space, plays all.
This probably is the best audio player for Windows:
foobar2000 (http://www.foobar2000.org/)
I’ve been using it for many years, and you can do everything with it:
foobar2000: Components Repository (http://www.foobar2000.org/components)
Amazon.com: The Lord of the Rings (Box Set): Howard Shore, Hollywood Studio Orchestra & Singers: Music (http://www.amazon.com/Lord-Rings-Box-Set/dp/samples/B0002C4GTW/ref=dp_tracks_all_1#disc_1)
You’ve better to download complete soundtracks. That CD set really poor – it contains music from three parts and nothing special
@Jediknight12: Porko’s right. I had that cd but when I found out how sad it was that stuff was missing, I sold it back on Amazon. Thanks to Porko, I know have the complete set in lossless quality. I suggest you do the same. Trust me. You will NOT regret it & will know that is is TOTALLY WORTH IT!!!
Quality isn’t great but maybe you’ll like to add few "curiosities" to this thread:
A record of the concert The Lord of the Rings Symphony (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Music_of_The_Lord_of_the_Rings_film_trilogy#Sympho ny) by Howard Shore. It’s a summary of all the trilogy soundtracks performed with a complete orchestra + chorus. Link includes the transcription of the "lyric" of symphony in quenya and english translation.

I second this please. I also had Part 1 end unexpectedly. I haven’t tried the other files yet, but I’ve only had the CD rips up to now and want to upgrade to the DVD-A quality. I would definitely appreciate a re-upload of any deleted or corrupted files.
The original uploader is busy elsewhere… you may be waiting some time…
I too would like the DVD-A links re-uploaded.
I’ve just seen that The Two Towers and Return Of The King all have deleted files too…So I guess unless someone else who’s downloaded them previously wants to re-upload the DVD-A files for all 3 films, we’re out of luck. =/
I prey for ReUpload!

Anyway to someone re-upload PLEASE?
Thanks in advance ^_^
fcuk it takes a lot of time to upload….
Hopefully someone can later on, meanwhile I’ll upload the FOTR suite as I call it, with an alternate version of "The Road Goes Ever On"
BIG thx !!!
You’re kidding! 🙁
I dont know how to thank you ^^:parrot:
BIG thx !!!
Haha! The Kakapo from last chance to see! That’s the best emoticon I’ve ever seen! XD
Well the message says "You have reached the download limit: 10000 Mb"
But I don’t think I’ve ever downloaded with them…
Here’s the suite that I mentioned in my previous comment which I think nobody read 😀
The file’s in WMA but has good quality. If someone rips them, it’ll have better quality.

Any thoughts?
Btw, I ran into the download limit as well on a free account, but I just waited 24 hours and my limit cleared and I was able to download the last few parts. This is an amazing contribution, thanks A LOT! 🙂

Quick question here, I’ve been working on cleaning up my music backups and for the first pass I just ran all the files through HashMyFiles and deleted the duplicated. But later I ran into exact audio duplicates (i.e., the tags were different but the audio md5 hash of the files were the same according to foobar2000) which HashMyFiles didn’t catch because of different tags. Is there a program out there that will hash only the audio portion of flac/ape/mp3 files for comparison? Thanks!

I will try and upload the mp3. 320kbps version I downloaded. It might take a while though…

From what I can tell the other 2 links are still working fine.
Enjoy!
First of all, which audio format do the DVDs of the complete recordins have, ac3/dts? Is Could someone by any chance post a link to the AC3/DTS files (flac is too big fin my opinion, and I’m more than happy aith ac3.???
The original rips were encrypted and in a special codec, the files in this forum are convert to FLAC in a lossless process. If you don’t want to download the big FLAC files with 24 bit here then download the MP3s.

There are many links in this thread, so I don’t know which one you are trying.
I have just tried one of them, and it does display a Captcha.
Maybe your browser is supressing it ?.
Have you tried using Jdownloader to download it ?.
Also, Porko has not been here for months so don’t hold your breath if you are expecting a re-upload elsewhere.
all the links for the 24bit 48KHz 5.1 DVD-A (FLAC) versions are gone..!
too bad….
I know the universal rule "go and grab it while you can !" but sometimes I forget to rush … 🙁

thanks anyway
And for redundancy all links additionally uploaded to DepositFiles! Feel free to mix them for a faster download!

check holunder2’spost ! it’s working perfectly (at least here at my home)
Ok, when I have some difficulties with 7zip files (after, of course I tried to use 7 zip – the stable version-), I use ALL the time this program : hjsplit 3.0 (google is your friend).
it’s free, easy to use and very efficient.
try to join all these parts into one big file .
Then Try to unzip this big file with the correct password.
i’m sure it will work !
of course if one of your part is corrupted it won’t work… too bad we don’t have the same system as inside WinRAR program : sometimes you can’t be sure which part is corrupted with 7zip….
UPDATE – Redownloading the smaller file allowed joining of the parts without any errors. So that was it, it seems. Rocking while listening to the hd music. Its amazing, thanks to the original poster.
I didn’t spect that a considerable amount of music related to the works of Tolkien existed!!!
Pd. I believe that you should update this as soon as "The Hobbit" OST appears on sale!!! 🙂
Please, be more specific.
Which file is "corrupted" at your end : … return of the king ? the two towers ?
The three files are working perfectly after unzing, here in my house.
Again, with 7Zip files, sometimes, you can’t sure -exactly – which part is corrupted.
Did you try to "control" with 7zip your archives ??
Do you use the last stable version of 7 zip ?
do you have WinRAR ?
WinRAR is really a powerful zip program : it can handle RAR files, of course, and 7zip as well.
ps: thx for the quick reply (:
right click, 7zip, control archive.
Sometimes you can have a good information about the faulty zip file.. sometimes you can’t be sure … that’s the trouble with 7zip vs RAR. But WinRAR is a shareware, so…
Don’t be too confident with the size of the file : sometimes the physical size is correct but it’s not working ..
The best thing with download files is a SFVfile : it checks the CRC32 (Cyclic Redundancy Check) of all the files.
PS: the SFVfile you mention, I searched it up, should it go with the fotr zip files or is that something i can download from the internet?
To be clear, all the pirate releases use this kind of files : here is the explanation :
when you zip a VERY large file (say.. an ISO file for example) into a great number of zip parts, you can check and track corrupted zip files very easily, with the help of your SFV file.
That way you can re download only the "corrupted" zip file.
You need to install a sotware which is able to read / create sfv files.
When you have installed your sfv program, then :
You select your Zip or RAR files and then create your **.sfv file.
With this file you can control your zip files.
Most of the time, people who are sharing large files use WinRAR AND an SFV software.
Why WinRAR ? Because when you zip your file, you have a very interesting option called "recovery record".
Your Zip files will be "fatter", but you can "re construct" a faulty RAR archive .. ! (well most of the time .. but it saves my *** many time..)
I’m using a SFV software all the time, when I need to transfer files from my computer, to portable HDD, memory usb, etc.
You can find a LOT of programs reading and creating SFV files (sharwres and freewares), but my favourite is QuickSFV (Official QuickSFV Home Page (http://www.quicksfv.org)).
it’s FREE and very fast.
Most of the time these control files are SFV or MD5.
Of course, QuickSFV can read / create these 2 types of control files.
NB : Careful on Windows 7, you can’t create more than one sfv file at time (or you will crash explorer.exe ….)

If links ‘R’ :DeaD, I’ll Up the Albums somewhere.. Idea for good sharin’ site?
Great !
thanks again to holunder2 for these uploads !!
Anyway, not sure about the original links, but I want to express my sincerest graditude to holunder2 and all those providing assistance for this awesome resource. Just finished with the FOTR, extracted it, and listened to it. Amazing music… and in superb quality too…
With regards to the above post, it seems that the freakshare links disappear sporadically. Not sure what that’s about, but i’m glad for when they work. depositfile links always work, with the usual waiting gap, so that’s good.
EDIT: I actually think that the freakshare links display as the file not being there when you exceed the daily download limit. So they are still there…
EDIT: I actually think that the freakshare links display as the file not being there when you exceed the daily download limit. So they are still there…
They aren’t working for me, and I haven’t used fs in over a week.
Yeah, i’ve realised this since my last post edit. It makes sense, but oddly I was able to get the ROTK part 10 download from freakshare earlier. I think that and maybe one or two of the earliest parts for ROTK were still active. I skipped ahead to part 10 in case it disappeared, and now i’m on part 7 with depositfiles. Still, as long as the depositfiles links are working, I will be very happy. 🙂
Incidentally, I came across the LOTR symphony FLACs in another thread in this forum – no idea if they are in this forum. Anyway, I had not intended to get them, but the promise of the best parts from all three films in 6 tracks was very tantalising… I played the first movement, and heard an awesome piece of music that I didn’t even recognise from the films, but which fit extremely well. I highly recommend the symphony to anyone who doesn’t already have it!
EDIT: Found the rarities archive on page 7 also. Another great upload holunder2, cheers!!! I’ve just realised that the opening to the symphony I was talking about is the opening to the alternative prologue score! Also listened to some other rarities such as elanor (alternate). Awesome music, but I think that I prefer the instrumental use of ‘Into to the West’ when Sam picks up Frodo. I shiver everytime, no jokes…

Can anyone tell me how I can play the hi-res, multi-channel FLAC files on my home theater system? For now I can play them only on my laptop.
My player is an Oppo BDP83 which can play SACD and DVD-A discs.
Do these files need to be authored as one of these disc types? Or is there another way?

Enjoy everyone!
Preferably mediafire. But anything’s fine with me. Thanks 🙂
Even if you did download the FLAC versions, it wouldn’t mean you’d have to take the time to re-up. Had it not been for an accident, I’d still have them and wouldn’t have asked for links. Accident often happen with me when cleaning PC to have space to HD isn’t full. Old habits.
@holunder2: DVD-A is what’s keeping me from downloading your links as it is leading me to believe that the music was ripped from the DVD’s. Deposit files will obviously be very slow. But I don’t care about that. Are your posts The Complete Recordings (I know it says that) cd’s or are the recordings comprised of DVD rips as the DVD-A leads me to think?

I have FOTR and ROTK in FLAC, but my connection is way too slow to be able to re-up them. (Actually, in the case of ROTK, it would just be up, since I own it; same for TTT, but I don’t have access to it non-compressed right now).
The Complete Recordings came with the the scores spread across several disks, but also came with a DVD. The DVD-A you’re seeing is a rip of the DVD that came with the Complete Recordings in 5.1 Surround, and might I say it is wonderful.

So the DVD that came with the scores is the entire Complete Recordings in 5.1 Surround?
Indeed.
Could you upload ROTK – CD 4 – Track 4 – The Fellowship Reunited? It’s the only track I’m missing.

Unable to download? Says denied by uploader?
Sorry but I don’t have the 1 Disc versions anymore.
"Farewell to Lorien" as featured on the Two Towers Special Edition was actually two pieces from the FOTR complete recordings cut together. The first 3.5 minutes are "The Fighting Uruk-Hai" starting around the 2:30 mark, followed by the first minute or so of "Gilraen’s Memorial."

You seem a bit put out that no-one is leaping to offer to upload 13 Gb of files ?.
Have you considered this thread…
And cool thanks for the link 🙂

There are dozens of links here. Can you be a tad specific ?.
Thread 135770
As I write this, all DepositFiles links are still alive. My upload has a possible benefit in being splitted into several files – you don’t need over thousands of hours to download it as the one file in the other thread. And I put a little effort into the metadata which are more correct than @Porko_Rosso’s initial upload and are fine tuned in many ways.
I presume you mean "where" NOT "there", else your sentence does not make sense.
You can find mp3 links on this page… http://forums.ffshrine.org/f92/%5Bmost-complete%5D-lord-rings-soundtracks-collection-dvd-83700/10.html at post 232.
You will need to copy and paste the links for the first film into the browser instead of just clicking on them or they will not work.
FLAC or MP3 format would be great, if anyone still have one of them !
Thanks in advance guys ! 🙂

Porko isn’t the only member here who uploaded this. Whilst he was a major contributor, he rarely comes back. He leaves a string of mega threads that attract torrents of re-upload requests. Satisfying any of which simply leads to more requests. I much prefer stand-alone threads like this one…
Additionally, tri2061990 is still a contributing member and he re-uploads when he can. The link there is currently inactive, but I’m re-uploading it at the moment…
If there was a hoster like the old MegaUpload where links would stay active for years, then it wouldn’t be so bad. As it is links these days require continual re-uploading. The new Mega service isn’t too bad, but is limited to 50 Gb of space for free members. 50 Gb can be used up very quickly, especially with the kind of large files in this thread…

Hey bishtyboshty,
first of all, thank you for your answer !
Yes, I saw this stand-alone thread before posting here… And like you said, the link is inactive for the time now.
I do understand that filling my request in this particular mega thread could be a source of new requests, so I’ll make a proper new one in the tri2061990"s thread. 😉
Thank you kindly for the time that you’ve spent to answering me and re-uploading this link ! 🙂
Many thanks in advance my friend !
That indeed would be extra cool.
DVD-A 24-bit 48 kHz stereo content. 🙂
Presumably that has never been uploaded on the forum ?.
Would be more than cool if someone could upload the DVD-A 24-bit 48 kHz stereo content. 🙂
I assume that’s correct.
I’m guessing that if the "stereo content" was a natural byproduct it would have turned up years ago.
It seems unlikely that it will now.
I have the 5.1 448-bit AC3 DVD-Audio of those i created from the originals i had. I will upload them as soon as i can when i finish the Victory At Sea LP restoration.
would just be a nice quality upgrade from CD audio. Could also be possible that it’s not that easy to extract. I don’t have the DVD-A so I cannot really tell, but, it’s quite a lotta music, so maybe the advertised stereo sound @ 24-bit, 48 kHz is just a downmix-from-5.1 option on the disc itself, considering one DVD has to carry up to 4 hours of music in 3 different formats, one of them multi-channel and very high-res. Had that problem once, and it was very hard/impossible to extract the stereo audio.
Thread 141306
I guess I just had it in the same generic folder with the rest of my soundtracks (which is mostly stereo and 16bit) so it was mostly just displacement in memory for me.
I moved it to a new folder for surround sound music. (24b/48khz/5.1)
I checked my HD albums (16+bit/44.1+kHz) and there was nothing there.
I suppose a simple downmix can be achieved using the 24/48/5.1 mixes. (with eac3to, certainly)
oron link is dead

Anyone else having trouble with "unsupported compression method" errors on these? I can’t download the huge OP files but these I can manage, but after I combine them I can’t extract them. 🙁 Am I doing something wrong? No way I can (or will) pay $1000 to buy these off Amazon either, lol.
I just spent most of the day downloading the Fellowship files, and they opened with keka on my Mac with no errors. I did not need these files, but wanted to help.
My verdict is that you need to use alternative software to open them, as opposed to whatever you are currently using (which you did not specify).
If you combine and extract separately, then you are using quite old software.
:this: Update whatever you’re using.
Preferably, it’s 7-zip or WinRAR.
Using something uncommon may have more issues unresolved compared to the top 3 archivers: 7zip, WinRAR, WinZIP.
Latest stable version is 7-Zip 9.20 but it’s from 2010.
http://www.7-zip.org/download.html
You can try their latest Beta version 9.22 from 2011.
http://sourceforge.net/projects/sevenzip/files/7-Zip/9.22/
WinRAR has been updated to v5.00 so if you’re using an older version or even a Beta version, definitely upgrade.
http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm
!!! Also, what OS are you on? Are you on Windows?
I have no knowledge for Mac, sorry.
Sorry, I thought only 7zip could open .7Z files so I didn’t specify, haha. I’m on 9.20, but I might try that 9.22beta or this ‘keka’ thing. Using Win7. Thanks for the replies! 🙂
I always 7zip for 7z as it usually means the uploader is on a foreign devil OS.
One that allows illegal Windows characters in the filename/filepath and exceeds 255 characters for the complete filepath (where not all programs are Unicode-friendly).
Devil worshipers.
EDIT: And yes, it might allow ‘illegal’ characters. 😉

I can’t extract even when I 7-zip is installed. When I tried to extract them, it says "can not open file".
I’ve already downloaded these to deal with a similar complaint. The files are fine, its your software that is at fault.
Hmm…you’re right! But I don’t get it…the extraction doesn’t work when I download from the 7-zip official site but worked when I download 7-zip from cnet.com.
It is pretty weird I might say!

That is the one that I test downloaded. Maybe one of the components didn’t download properly. Try checking the file sizes. Those of parts 001 to 007 should all be the same. On my system they are 524.3 Mb each… with part 008 being 405.3 Mb.
Other than re-stating that the files work, there is nothing more that I can do.
A reliable computer, with reliable software on it together with a reliable Internet connection goes a long way.
I will try again for part 004 since you said that part 001 to 007 are all the same sizes.
But why is my size status different from yours?

I don’t know, but part 4 does seem suspect.
This reupload consists of 6 files with bigger size which you can unpack each on its own. Additional I have added MD5SUMs for the files. This should help you with broken downloads. FOTR and TTT are still the old links. Enjoy! =)
Priceless? No, you can get this 24-bit 5.1 recording collection for the affordable price of ~ 300 ???. ^^
Thank you in advance!

Thank you for uploading this. I always wanted the complete recordings of LOTR (Howard Shore’s magnum opus IMO) on my iPod, but stupid WB let the CDs go out of print. And these CDs go for RIDICULOUS prices on eBay. Believe me, I checked.
So honor on you, good sir! Honor on your cow!

See below. 🙂
That’s great! I’ve been waiting for a re-upload for so long! Unfortunately, I don’t know about additional music in the end credits of the extended version. Hopefully someone else will reply!
Assuming they’re from the same master they should sound no different to the 24/48 MLP on the DVD-Audio disc.
Go here for The Complete Recordings, the albums and more! (Thread 221421)
But only stereo … :/
Also take a look at the reuploaded Rarities Archive (Thread 83700).
