Hello everybody,

I apologize for my english,

this afternoon, in a video game shop (this shop also deals with imported japanese games and OSTs…)…

I learn, very surprised, that one OST of the upcoming game Golden Sun : Dark Dawn will be released in Japan in the same time as the game, just like it is, according to the merchant, the same for all the games when they are released in Japan.

Always according to him, they had been OSTs release of the two first games of the serie, but they are collectors at very very expensive prices…

I don’t find anything about this on the Internet…
Is anybody here knowing more than me on the subject ?

Thanks.

VGMdb (vgmdb.net) disagrees with him. He may be talking about fake CDs that are really gamerips disguised as official releases. Or he could just be misinformed. But VGMdb catalogs virtually all official soundtracks, and especially for a series as well known as Golden Sun and a composer as well known as Motoi Sakuraba. And I’ve seen fans complain about a lack of soundtrack releases, and if there had been one, I think they would have known, even if it was the most rare, limited edition ever.

Take this (http://vgmdb.net/album/5221) album for instance. Apparently only 400 CDs were pressed, and it’s not even the music to a particularly well known game, and it came out ten years before the site existed. But yet VGMdb has it, and with pictures.

There will be a short (10 tracks or so?) soundtrack collection with arrangements included in the game guide, see vgmdb again (http://vgmdb.net/album/21508).

Hello, thanks to telling me that.

In fact, I subscribed to the daily mail of upcoming albums on vgmdb, to be sure to not miss it.
So, a few days ago, checking the mails as every day, I see it and pre-order it on amazon.co.jp (with others things in the same time for saving up shipping fees).

But how do you know this is only a short collection ? Maybe you can read Japanese, but I can’t. Is this indicated in the product page on amazon.co.jp, or somewhere else ?

Thanks for your answer.

The description talks about (paraphrasing) "select masterpieces, original versions with super arrange versions included" or something like that. There is no Sakuraba composed Camelot game which got a soundtrack so far, and to me this sounds like this will again be an arrange album (maybe more like that Mario Sports CD included in Nintendo Dream which was part arranged, part extended in-game sound). FYI a complete Golden Sun soundtrack would need to span at least 2 CDs, which I’m sure they won’t do as a pack in.

Of course at the price of that bundle (the primary product being the game guide after all) it will be a steal regardless the outcome.
