I don’t know if that’s the case, but I’ve had some "free space" errors with some old games in my XP, and were solved by using the compatibility mode. I don’t know if is there some compatibility mode in Win7, but if there is, have a try 😉

Win7 has compatibility mode although for most games it doesn’t help me. However Warcraft III is running just fine on my Win7 laptop, so I think the problem is elsewhere.

As I said, maybe this is not the case, but his problem reminds me of, for example, Fallout (The first which was released in 1997), a game that required little space, but with my "huge" HDD (Really huge for the time of the game, but nowadays it’s kind of small), it seems that the installer or the game or whatever couldn’t handle all that free space. That’s why thought so.
