Well i hear the composer usualy does music for Anime, infact this is his first game OST, so that would kind of explain it
Yeah, who knew that Metroid Prime would end up being more aurally faithful to the originals?
Thanks for the rip.
Works, thanks for the upload.
*goes back to listening to Metroid Prime 2’s OST*
Best track in the game XD
Edit: I got it working after a million tries… thanks for the rip, but it’s a really bad site lol, I hope I can get the 2nd link working.
I can just imagine E.T. riding that bicycle up in the air with the moon on the background
I must say though, that I was expecting the game to have themes for the different areas in the game, like all the other Metroids and Metroid Primes do; you know? Where’s Other M’s Brinstar, Norfair, Maridia, etc? I guess the game doesn’t work like that or something. Huh. I didn’t think it was possible, but I’m even less interested in playing this game now. Bah, I guess I can’t call myself a Metroid fan anymore if I haven’t liked a single game in the franchise for over 6 years. I was hoping Other M (and man, what a dumb thing to call a game) would have at least had some good music in there somewhere.

I only somewhat agree with you… I do really like Ridley’s theme, and a couple of the stage themes. And the piano melody they used on the website is by far my favorite.
But I do agree that there are no solid themes… I also didn’t like how they basically threw away the original Space Pirate theme and redid it. Such a shame…
EDIT : Can anyone help me in coming up with real names for the tracks? I have a few so far. The names came from different sources: (in a spoiler box for those who don’t want to see the boss names)

Any ideas for the other tracks? Especially the last several, I have absolutely NO CLUE what they are… And after everything is properly named, I’d like to put them all in proper order.
What?
The Staff Roll is this soundtrack’s saving grace, but I like a few of the battle pieces too. Shame the rest is so ambient.

It’s also clear that there are still some cinematic tracks missing from the set. I’ll look forward to getting them if they become available.
Would you be able to help me put the tracks in proper order? I haven’t played through the entire game yet, so I can only do it up to a certain point.
I’m also waiting for a complete rip from http://metroid.retropixel.net/. They’re rips are just about the most complete rips I’ve ever seen.
YouTube – Metroid Other M OST – Stage 1 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pK2CykU3tE4)
YouTube – Metroid Fusion OST 31 Sector 3 (PYR) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hdQqPrEjmTM)
All of the music is out of order… I mean, the final boss music even has a ton of other battle tracks after it! The cinematic and stage music are also a little scattered. That’s why I’m talking about reordering them.
Follow the past few posts… we’re working on it.
30 – VS Desbrachian, part 2
Sorry mate, but the moonrune name does no justice for Nightmare. In the official FFshrine tagging, it better be called Nightmare. Or fits will be thrown.
I appreciate it very much. I really, really do. But I guess I’ll have to wait to contribute myself until I actually get the game (which hopefully won’t be too long–I had ordered it from Amazon and it’s taking quite a while for it to come).
Yeah… That’s just what I got from one person who uploaded it on Youtube. I’m working out what they really should be called, now that official names are starting to surface. I’m also working hard on trying to figure out what some of the older cinematic parts are (I’m closer to the end of the game, so that’s a while back to remember). Do you have any suggestions for what things should be titled? Any help is welcome.
EDIT: There is music for the Nightmare fight, so the tracks you’re referring to are something completely different, as far as I’m aware.

Well, when you get the game, you can help out with putting things in the proper order, and help naming some of the tracks used earlier in the game that still have no name.
I’m not really sure, but I think there’s a reason for that. I’ll put that in spoiler tags because it comes from the very end of the game:
It’s when Samus has gone back to the Bottle Ship to get Adam’s helmet. She’s standing there, remembering her time with Adam, when she is suddenly interrupted by the activation of the ship’s self-destruct. I haven’t actually gotten to that point myself, but I saw a video, and I think the music did cut out like that.
Probably because the sound effects and dialogue were already mixed into both, and so there would have been no way to extract the music only, just like most FMV files.

Yeah, that’s right…if you want it to work in the proper context, go into an audio editing program…
Cut out any silence at the end of that track, as well as at the beginning of the Escape track (the one with the traditional horrible blaring alarm), then play them back-to-back.
That’s more or less how it appears in the game, and it makes the cut a little more reasonable.
Not sure that necessitated spoiler tags, but better safe than sorry.

14. VS. Volfon — the lava whale/fish thing
15. VS. RB176 Ferrocrusher — the machine with The Deleter controlling it
16. VS. RB176 Ferrocrusher [conclusion]
17. VS. Brug Mass — the purple monster in the beginning
19. VS. Groganch — that tree monster ("tree dinosaur" as I used to call it)
36. Sector 3 (Pyrosphere) — I would really like a more specific tag for this… I don’t remember this being the only piece used in Sector 3! Even if you only add "North" or "South", I think it would be better.
49. Sector 2 (Cryosphere) — Same as 36, only I know this isn’t the only one… again, a more specific tag is desired.
94. Appearance of the Queen Metroid — I’m not sure about this one, I wasn’t really paying attention to the music at this point… just something about this reminds me of that scene
99. Death of MB — I’m not entirely sure about this one either, for the same reason as 94… but I think I remember the heartbeat then.
At this point, if I’m correct, we’re still missing the following tracks…
Event tracks 4 and 7, 8, and 9.
Battle tracks 1 and 12. I’m also still unsure about the title of track 11, "Stuck".
Stage tracks 1, 4, 5, 7, 8, 10, 11, 12, 14, 16, 18, 19, 21, 22, 24, 28, 30, and 31.
Cinematic tracks (because, they’re not really numbered, I’m using their track number as a whole) : 70, 74, 92, 95, 96, and 97.
One last thing… when and where was track 68 used?
…this occurs in the pointer sequence just before the Ridley battle where Anthony asks you "Where’s the exit at?" He talks about how you’re stuck, and how, apparently, it ain’t good.
Don’t feel bound to any of the names I put down…I don’t know any of the "official" titles.
As for the rest, some more educated guesses…
Track 24 (Battle 12) – Brug Mass (Part 1)…whereas the previously mentioned track would be Part 2. I know the intro to this song plays at the intro to the battle, but I’m not sure about the rest.
Track 35 (Stage 1) – Sector 1 Central. This only plays early on, but it seems to be the primary track for the central area.
Track 39 (Stage 5) – Sector 2 North. The cargo area.
Track 41 (Stage 7) – Biosphere Test Area (?) Doesn’t seem right since it’s a really short sequence in the game, but it’s there.
Track 42 (Stage 8) – I got rid of this since it seems to be exactly the same as the theme song. If someone can prove otherwise, please do.
Track 44 (Stage 10) – Sector 3 (Entry?) This plays when you first access Sector 3.
Track 46 (Stage 12) – Again, sounds like a repeat, so I removed it.
Track 50 (Stage 16) – See above.
Track 53 (Stage 19) – Main Sector. Plays for the first time after the briefing.
Track 57 (Stage 22) – Bioweapon Research Center. Not sure when this first plays.
Track 65 (Stage 30) – I named this Depressurization. I believe it plays in the little cinematic event just as you activate the Gravity Suit.
Track 66 (Stage 31) – Another copy of the piano theme? Again, open for debate.
Track 74 – Briefing. I think we do have this one already.
Track 96 – I have this marked as the stage music for the Exam Center in Sector 1.
And as for Track 68 and the others, I have no idea.
Edit: Oh, hang on…
I have Event 8 marked as Main Elevator (plays when you first access the chamber)
I may edit this post if I can come up with any more titles… I may even go play the game to figure them out!
EDIT: Random thoughts…
For the Main Elevator, I don’t think I understand which track you mean.
Now that you mention it, I do remember track 11 being played before Ridley. I was just confused at first, since it was in with the battle tracks.
After listening to Stage 30 again, it does sound to me like the Gravity Suit scene.
Now that I’m listening to track 99 again, which I called "Death of MB", I’m starting to think the first part before the heart beat may have been used somewhere else.
Please join me! I posted it hours ago, and I haven’t gotten any answers yet! I feel lonely…
I was having high expectations for it…
I’m loving this so much. Kuniaki Haishima rules 😀
