Agreed. I admire what they TRIED to do with Sonic Chronicles, but apparently they completely forgot that Sonic Rush and Sonic Rush Adventure had been released and that the Nintendo DS can handle more complex music than shitty MIDIs.

Although, if you want to get technical, Chronicles wasn’t made by Sonic Team, so…

LOL well in all honesty, I will say Richard Jacques did an excellent job with Sonic 3d Blast for saturn. That album sounded like he took the time to compose melodies, somewhat parodying a genre of music but still quite catchy.

The Saturn version of 3D Blast was terrific.

Sega should of left Sonic with Nintendo. They’re trying way to hard to get/impress PS3 and Xbox owners. They’re quality of music, game play, creativity went downhill. You think I dont know anything? Play Sonic Advance 1~3, Sonic Rush and Adventure. And even though SA 1&2 was for dreamcast it had some improvement here and there and was really good on the GC. SEGA is destroying the Sonic franchise (Sonic Himself). Everyone hates Shadow the Hedgehog but in my eyes it beats every other game they made thus far. (Lol wrong topic huh?)

I never liked the lyrics for that. My faves from the adventure series were always tails’ theme and eggman’s theme from adventure 2.

When I read the first post, and realized it was linking to music from a hack, my opinion of the entire thread immediately sank.

What’s even more interesting is how later posts apparently implied "Sonic Chronicles" isn’t qualified. Perhaps it wasn’t designed by Sonic Team, but Sonic Team itself has gone through numerous changes over the years. When Yuji Naka departed, he was the last of Sonic’s original creators to go. The franchise, overall, had already begun deteriorating beforehand.

Once, I had hoped the virtually complete restructuring of Sonic Team would result in a renaissance of sorts for Sonic. That has not happened, although I am hopeful for "Sonic the Hedgehog 4," despite how my hopes have been crushed before.

Getting back to the point, however, an officially licensed and endorsed game is a Sonic the Hedgehog game. It doesn’t matter how you feel, as your personal opinion changes nothing — that’s the simple truth. Honestly, I always find it entertaining when supposed fans of the franchise state that "such-and-such isn’t a real Sonic game." It is, officially. Your qualifications are meaningless.

If you wish to state it isn’t a certain style of Sonic game, that’s a different story.

I think that too.

The lyrics in the character themes have usually sucked royally. Sonic Heroes managed to pull of a few decent ones as I liked Team Chaotix and Team Dark. Lyrics aside the music in all of them are pretty good and a-typical of my good man Jun Senoue and his soundteam. I did like both Knuckles themes with lyrics except when they guy is singing "Born on and island in the heavens" in the SA2 version. It was fine in SA’s version, but it seemed out of place in SA2’s Other than that that I’d give it an A+ I Slapped togeather a version without him singing that part except when he’s dual with the rap. But it kind of sounded good there anyway. The instrumental has to be one of my top favorite songs of all time, though.

i disagree totally. listen to the sonic r songs without the vocals and youll see that it sounds like many games that came out in the 90’s. its definetly more upbeat that sonic 1 or 2 but the style is still similar. truly, the vocals were not needed but it showed that it a beginning middle and end. not an endless loop like most games.

Well, I enjoyed the Adventure series soundtracks extremely well. Sonic Heroes’ has been growing on me a lot as well. I wouldn’t really say any one type of style fits Sonic any better than the other, I quite like the mix that both Adventure games threw at us. I’ve even been thiking about giving the new Sonic game soundtracks another check after giving them a listen. Though as much as I like Jun, Shadow the Hedgehog’s soundtrack was a bit stale as a listen. I really only liked the vocal tracks and Westopolis. I think they’ve still been doing a decent job, though.
