EDIT
My last try to rip the music from the game kinda broke my back.
I tried to rip every single cue from the game possible, compared
it to the tracks on the OST and so on. I simply lost track.
I decided to "slightly expand" the official soundtrack on my second
attempt instead – of course all in lossless glory – no analog line-in-
recording.! I am especially focusing on the action cues, that didn’t
make it to the CD and breaking up the OST tracks and sort them
in chronological order.

Well, check it 😉 Nate’s Theme and Cliffhanger comes from the OST, so those tracks are lossy. For the rest, as far as I heard, the lossless quality gets lost with an analog recording, but I don’t know for sure. I kept the tracks in APE format to prevent the frequencies being cut off.
By the way, there definitely is a lossy track on the disc played on the PS3 menu while the game is selected, which has a cutoff line at 16000Hz.

ok thanks. i appreciate uncharted 2 wont ever get a proper lossless release. as for it not having the dynamic quality and frequencies being cut off, that is what i meant about preserving the recording. 🙂
just 1 question, why have you kept the lossy tracks from the ost and not recorded those tracks manually. surely it would be better quality than the official release?
The quality of my analog recording of "Nate’s Theme 2.0" is similar to the iTunes release. My rip features a constant noise, I don’t want to denoise the tracks since the sound gets very "metallic". So in fact, the iTunes release is slightly better in my opinion. If you are looking for a true lossless release, I guess we have to wait for the day, where PS3 rips can be easily done like a PC gamerip. Maybe tthe other guy (I think it was hughkeanu) will have a better version ready soon.
And why I used the iTunes cue from the Cliffhanger sequence is obvious, I guess. It cannot be extracted without the speech and sfx layer.
I desire, so much, the remix of the "Among Thieves" theme that plays… well I don’t remember how many times but I know it plays during the gunfight when you go through that "mask store" near the beginning of the first city chapter right after Borneo.
I won’t include the cutscene cues though, which can’t be isolated and are not on the OST. Those cues are marked grey.

notes:
Track 02 has an extended ending, which is used in the first chapter of the game. In that cutscene, a shorter version has been used. I decided to place that cue in the cutscene.
Track 07 misses a short cue, which occurred once during playing but on all re-plays I never heard that cue again. Since it has some major errors in it, I didn’t include it in here. I will keep that cue in mind and see, if I can update the track later on.
Hi you have possibility for flac?????
Thanks
Hm, that’s the Urban Warfare level, then. There are two cues there, which are played. On some occasions it’s the "Brutal Combo Mambo" theme (I think there are five different versions of this) and sometimes, the "Helicopter and Tank" cue. Haven’t heard the "Among Thieves Theme" there, though.
Hi you have possibility for flac?????
No, I’ll stick to APE. It’s lossless too and the files are smaller than on the highest compression level of FLAC.
Sorry guys for the long wait. But it’s almost impossible to record all the stuff. Especially the action cues are complicated.

Edmonson composed more than 120 minutes… If you are missing a specific cue, it’s a lot easier to upload this one than to do this chronologically.
I’m a little confused how to file/sort these, so i’ll wait until you’re done.

Sure. But there won’t be a complete score, only expanded.
When can you put up breaking and entering?
Doies anyone know where can i download teh cutscenes of Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune and Uncharted 2: Among Thieves in good quality? I’m a video editor and i’ve been trying to make a tribute to this game, i already have the OST all i need is the cutscenes.
Uncharted 2 walkthrough with cutscenes (http://www.youtube.com/user/OmegaNemesis28#p/u) (very good quality). I think someone posted UDF cutscene "packs" on youtube, too.

I don’t know, but if they are in 7.1 surround like the ingame stuff, it’s still hard to get the cues, there are sfx everywhere.

I also took the liberty of updating the custom-ordered tracklisting with the new songs, in this thread (http://forums.ffshrine.org/showpost.php?p=1363115&postcount=52). Enjoy!
Very nice contribution to us all.
And of course, my custom-ordered tracklisting in this thread (http://forums.ffshrine.org/showpost.php?p=1363115&postcount=52) was also updated.
Keep it up!
This project is about ripping as much of the music as possible from the game… we all know the stuff that’s on the OST, don’t worry.
Do you know, how many tracks I heard at this section of the game? ^^ You have to be more specific. And which level by the way – Locomotion or Tunnel Vision?
Some cues from chapter 12 and 13 added.
ok
Which soundtrack CD? All the sites I found with some infos on the CE or LE version of the game don’t feature a score CD.
im sure i saw a photo of it. a physical cd does exist.
Thread 70685
Thread 70685
In the link you posted, there is no photo of the physical disc. The uploader ripped the score from the Fortune Hunter edition, which also has no CD included.
from what NemesisHunter told me, this is where he ripped his upload from, but only in mp3 for his own reasons. the fortune hunter edition is extremely limited and wasnt issued for sale.
"Indeed, a physical copy was included with each Fortune Hunter edition of the game, along with a copy of the Brady Games strategy guide for Uncharted 2. "
"If I recall, when they said the fortune edition was limited, it was REALLY limited. Only 200 prints (approximately) have been distributed worldwide, all of them via contests, betas, press screenings and website giveaways."
he can’t he sold it on ebay. he’s either a kid and oblivious to cd quality sound or doesnt have a fast enough connection to upload it. he did say he would have if could so i believe he was genuine.
Some cues from chapter 12 and 13 added.
Not sure about the chapter, but it’s about at far ahead in the game. Where Nate fights off enemies and avoid getting hit by helicopter missiles.
Also, I’ve downloaded the menu music, but I prefer my music to be MP3 (you know, so that I can actually listen to it on my PSP), but I don’t have anything on my computer that can either play or convert it (not even Sony Vegas Pro 9).
I’ve attempted a proper track listing, which you can find in this thread (http://forums.ffshrine.org/showpost.php?p=1363115&postcount=52). Hope it helps!
no, stop asking.
I have a request if it’s possible : there’s this particular track that I love but that is not on the soundtrack, a remix of the Monastery. You often hear it after Schfer’s death when Nate and Elena split up and Nate goes on the roof . There’s some kind of tibetan horn just before.
You can hear it in this video : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AOpiY4hV5BA at 7’30.
If you or someone else could rip it for me, I would be so grateful…

That part is featured on one of the recordings I did in this thread (http://forums.ffshrine.org/showpost.php?p=1363115&postcount=52). It would be the one titled "The Monastery (Extended Version)". I spliced together my recorded rendition with the official soundtrack’s version.
The Monastery (Extended Version):
http://www.mediafire.com/?wyymj2d3nzj
The part you’re looking for starts at 1:55 into the song. Note that the woodwind melody part that immediately follows has a stronger reverb effect as heard in the game — moreso than the official soundtrack version, at least, who’s melodic part starts at 3:58.
Thank you for taking the time and effort to do this for yourself and others. I, as I’m sure many do, really appreciate it.
Also, I have a physical copy of the score. I noticed earlier in the thread that you couldn’t confirm it existed, if you’d still like it let me know and I can flac it or something. It’s the one from the Fortune Hunter Edition though, so it doesn’t have the 3 bonus tracks that are in the physical retail copy of the score.

Thanks, but I have the Soundtrack now in lossless – including the bonus tracks 😉
Sorry about all the questions, I just want to know whether or not I can replace the tracks from the previous version without missing out on any of the cues I may already have had.
Or the final chase cue at the end of The Dig, where Drake and Sullivan escape – every time I played that scene I heard a different music track. Busting Chops, from the Convoy level and another one from a later chapter. I decided to leave those cues out, since they appear later on.
Or the Sewer Chase from Breaking and Entering is not included also, it should appear later again.
I will definitely leave out some cues too, but that should be okay, because they are combinations of other cues and not recorded for those scenes. When Drake falls into the pit and combats the enemys with his bare hands (right before he follows the hose to get to The Dig level), a short introduction cue is played which sounds like a combination of some cues.
Don’t worry, I know what I’m doing 😛
It would be SUPER nice if American/European video games just received official like… 5-6 disc soundtracks like most Japanese games do.

Notes
This is a provisional and lossy release to bypass the long waiting time for the full set.
Some tracks may be altered in the future. Some tracks may also disappear again
(e.g. if they were written for Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune)
Oh I hope someone invents a software to extract the music files from the disc soon, before I have to do a rip like that for Drake’s Fortune. 😉
Speaking of Drake’s Fortune, HAS anyone done an extended score for that yet?
Thanks, really need the kind words. It’s getting more difficult with every cue, to find all versions, compare them with each other, partly remix them again and have a look for errors in the files.
I’d say I finished roughly 50%. I still have a huge task in the end with the level montage cues.
If you want to help me out a bit, feel free to do so. Could you please check, if the following cue has been also used in (and therefore written for) Drake’s Fortune? Borneo Brawl (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xYUBYWsT1BU&feature=PlayList&p=B878AC41C8725DF1&index=16)
I don’t remember any music from the first game, but the sound is the suspicious part, it doesn’t sound as it belongs to the rest of the score, somehow different. Sadly, I have too much to do to find it out myself. Maybe I’m wrong, maybe it’s just one of the cues Clint Bajakian wrote for the game, I don’t know.

Not that I know of, and I am terrified I might be the one having to do this in the end 😛

No you’re totally right, I noticed this with the first version of your expanded score. This track uses some cues from the Drake’s Fortune OST. Track 6: Plane-wrecked to be precise. The cue that plays from about 1:40 to 2:10 in Plane-wrecked (ituses a phrase from the Uncharted Theme of Drake’s Fortune), that cue from Plane-wrecked is used at least three times in your Borneo Brawl track; 1:15 to about 1:45, again from 4:10 to about 4:35, and again at 7:00 to about 7:28.
Although (and this may just be me) it sounds like a it could be a different recording of it, the brass sounds a tiny bit different and one of the vocal notes doesn’t seem to hold as long in the Drake’s Fortune version. Plus the cue is used with different elements in both versions. Also in Borneo Brawl, each consecutive use of the cue has different surrounding elements, the last seeming to be the most intense.
There’s also another cue from Drake’s Fortune used at least twice in that track from what I can tell, it feels like one of the stingers that plays when you complete a shootout in the first game.
I hope that helped, it’s late over here, so I wasn’t as in-depth as I could have been, but tomorrow I’ll give it a closer listen if you want me to.
That would be awesome. I try to upload more music from Among Thieves, so you have a comparison.
407 – Heart Of Ice [V1] (http://www.multiupload.com/7KQ3R6BLCL) (1:48 | FLAC)
I just need an endless supply of water and some kind of salty and/or cheesy snack food and I’ll be good for the weekend.
I’m going to try and get as much time in this weekend as I can. I don’t want to rush through this, I want to try and be as thorough as possible though.
Combine this with cigarettes and I know where I spend my next holidays 😉
I’m going to try and get as much time in this weekend as I can. I don’t want to rush through this, I want to try and be as thorough as possible though.
Great, I have the same attitude.
I’ve tried to be as thorough as possible, playing through each section 3 times, and approaching each firefight by letting them attack first, then I attack first, then I stealth attack first, then I just run in and see what happens. So I’m doing each firefight at least 4 times.
So far though, I’ve only noticed that one cue from Plane-wrecked that’s also in Uncharted 2.
I have to say though it’s pretty damn awesome playing through this game right now. I’ve got the volume about 1.5 times my normal playing volume, so all the sound is coming out crisp and it just booms so satisfyingly, I’ve never heard some of this music so clear, since I’m playing without voice or sound. I’m enjoying myself as I do this.
Basically what I found was that there are several types of recordings. The first and most obvious are Normal tracks, which don’t have anything unique about them whatsoever. Tracks like Showdown are Normal tracks.
The main type though is what I call Dynamic Tracks. These play only in certain areas of the game and have several different versions, with more or less instruments included to match what’s happening in the game. There is the Action version for fight, Tense version for stalemates, and Mellow for no fights at all, plus two in-between versions. There can be as many as five for a typical track, but it can be as low as two. For instance, the Plane-wrecked track has the normal, mellow track to start, but the first two pirate fights have the action mix.
The third type of track are the cues. These are usually played in moments where there is no music at all (for instance, when Nate and Sully are examining the ruins for the first time in Chapter 2). They’re all selected completely at random and typically only last a few seconds. These I didn’t bother with, unless they were played for a specific event, with the same cue each time (a good example is when Nate looks at his map in Unlocking the Past). There are also of course finishing cues for Normal and Dynamic Tracks, these I’ve included as part of the normal one to finish it off.
One cue type I didn’t go for is this type that plays when your partner is killed when you leave the battlefield. They would be tricky to record and wouldn’t fit in the normal scheme of things. Making things harder is the fact that some battles have a second, alternate track for when you do it the second time, whether it be loading an old save, dying, or what have you. THEN there’s the fact that the OST has different versions as well! (again, Showdown is different on the OST).
I’m about to head into recording Uncharted 2, so hopefully this info will make things a bit easier to do for us. I’ll be doing it in my normal style, however, which is in MP3 at 320kbps, because I like to listen to my music on the go, and I’m a bit of a space nut (which is also why my tracks don’t loop).
I’m not sure how FunnyML approaches these things, but for his sake I think it’s safe to assume I’m doing a good job of thoroughly sifting through the soundtrack looking for doubles, reused pieces or cues, and similar tracks.
Almost immediately I’ve found how Uncharted 2 can be harder on the cues; most of them are longer and more dramatic than the ones in the original game (A Rock and a Hard Place has several), so my rule has been changed to only exclude the shorter, less interesting ones that only last a few seconds or so.
There are a few doubles in Uncharted 1, but there are also a few near doubles as well (the fight in the water section of the Castle, and Heading Upriver are both very similar aside from the fact that the water castle one lacks an instrument or two).
Are you talking about Uncharted 1? If you mean the final fight with Navarro
on the ship, then sorry but this one has more layers (or stems as they call it).
I can’t speak for the music in Uncharted 1 but on Among Thieves nearly every track has more layers than one. Not just the action cues, even the random short cues you skipped on the first game.

My tracks don’t loop either 😉 Don’t know why you want to go through that pain while I’m doing the same, but go ahead and good luck. What’s your recording system by the way?

Did you find out, if the UDF Plane-Wrecked cues are identical or similar to the UAT Borneo Brawl ones?
I played through Showdown a few times, and that track doesn’t have any layers from my time with it. I do know that there are two tracks to that level, though. There’s the track for the first two sections (which has been heard earlier, thus why I didn’t mention it), and then the unique track shows up for the third and final ones.
I’m probably going through the pain because A) I’m not after cues, and B) I want my tracks in MP3. No offense to and FLACers out there, but I’m not a fan of it because it won’t play on my PSP unless I mod it, which I’m not willing to do. It also saves me on internet credit doing it myself because I don’t have to download anything (internet is so bad over here, we only get 20GB a month). Oh, and C) There’s the satisfaction of knowing that I recorded all of those tracks myself!
My recording method is probably more unorthodox compared to most. My TV has Audio Out ports at the back (the Composite/Component style plugs). I get a special cable that converts that to a headphone jack at the end, and stick that into the Audio In port on my PC. I record and edit the stuff in Sony Vegas, which has proven to be very versatile for as long as I’ve had it.
I paid special attention to that part just to be sure, I’ve compared sound waves, and judged by ear, I’ve had the audio from the game and borneo brawl coming out of two sets of headphones and compared them at the same time, the cue is identical.
So far the only places I’ve seen with multiple full songs for the fights were: the chase after Sullivan gets shot just before reuniting with Elena, the shootout at the clearing where the plane wreckage is, and the shootout just before you get to the fort where there’s the clearing with all the traps. Not a lot of shootouts before chapter 5 anyway, so I’m sure there’ll be more to come.
I posted an outtake of that first section somewhere on this forum some time ago and it had two layers.

I do post an MP3 version here, lossless will be exclusive to a special site for some time until I post it here.

And which connection do you use to connect your PS3 to the TV? HDMI or Composite?

Great work Shiryoku. Can’t wait for new updates. When I finished my rip in a couple of months, I’ll give you the files for comparison and delete the cues you find in the first game.
Well as I said, I record my own version because I like to, and it saves me having to download it from ya, although if there are extra track versions I’ll probably download those. I use HDMI to connect to my HDTV, but if I’m recording video, I’m forced to use Composite with my DVD Recorder.
Also, I’m in the Borneo level, and I’ve noticed that the music there IS in fact different; it lacks the flute instrument. My guess is that the reason for this is because each Uncharted uses music that pertains to the particular cultures involved in the backstory (say, Incan-esque, Spanish and English for Drake’s Fortune, and Nepalese/Tibetan for Among Thieves), and the flute didn’t really adhere to that.
I agree. I guess they used some of the short pieces playing in UAT when there is no action and mixed them into the track? All the action cues on UAT have those cues mixed into them, in most cases they are used as "bridges" between segments.
That’s what I was talking about. But I guess since the cue doesn’t play on it’s own, you guys aren’t counting it as the same right? I mean I wouldn’t either, but I think I missunderstood FunnyML’s original question about the cue.
Another part of Borneo Brawl that’s also in Drake’s Fortune are the four bamboo strikes from :32-:34, also reused with score from Among Thieves.
I’ll be busy over the next day or two, but I’ll keep on trucking through the first game every chance I get.
I think I heard this before but skipped it because of the name.
On Cat and Mouse, I think it may be an OST exclusive. I had a similar situation when I came across The Bunker. It’s based on the track that first appears when you first enter the U-Boat in Chapter 2, but that specific, more heavy mix I never came across in the game.
I may be able to figure out a general area where that track may be in game, or if it’s a combination of several tracks.
I’ve made it up the Shangra-La Hotel and, holy CRAP, he was right, there are a LOT of different versions!
I’ve made it up the Shangra-La Hotel and, holy CRAP, he was right, there are a LOT of different versions!
It is getting even worse later in the game.
In the beginning, the alternate tracks are at least identical in terms of length. Later, those alternates differ in length quite a bit.
I’ve been thinking about picking up the recordings where you left off, rather than chugging along on my own in your footsteps (so to speak), and giving you the files once I’m done. I’ll save them in FLAC, just for you, but getting them to you may be a problem because of internet costs. Physically mailing them to you is an option I have actually pulled off before.
I’ll switch back to Uncharted 1 and record the battles with multiple tracks, once Shiryoku finishes that list. How I’ll get it to you I have no idea, but personally I think mail is the best option since I don’t have any place to upload it on the net.
How big is the MP3 Soundtrack anyway?
I don’t know how big the MP3 version will be. Need to edit all the stuff first and finishing up the lossless version, then converting them down to MP3.
67 minutes are around 170 MB, so all the music should be around 420 MB at max.
I’ll keep that in mind.
Luckily my class load this week wasn’t too bad, so I shouldn’t have any other obligations while home. Not that playing through one of my favorite games is much of an obligation.
Also, good news. My uploading contact, Zantor, is now able to upload to his servers again. To that end, I’ll send him my finished Uncharted 1 Soundtrack once I record any extra tracks that Shiryoku identifies.
I said I recorded everything. I now purge the files, move them where they have been composed for, analyze all versions of a cue the game provides and so on.
and thank you for everyting you did till now.
To all the readers – don’t worry, I didn’t give up on this one. I just had no time for it. However, I planned on doing this rip, because there was no other way of getting the music from the game. Thanks to a special attentive user, there might be a new (and much simpler way) of getting all the files. I will check this and let you know, when I know more.
I CAN say though, that apart from the initial track that started this whole thing, no other music/cues from the game struck my as familiar, as if used in Uncharted 2. And I can say that I’ve been VERY thorough in trying to find tracks that are used in both games, as it’s taken me about 2 and a half months to do this play through.

I am working on the score in my free time (which is rare, and I have other projects to do). At the moment I am waiting for the Uncharted 3 Beta to arrive to check for new music. Anybody interested in it?
If anybody knows how to get the demo tracks from the previous games that I can include in the upcoming albums, I’m all ears.

Uploaded the raw tracks from U2 Demo here, maybe it’ll be useful to you:
And big thx for the U3 beta tracks!
And big thx for the U3 beta tracks!
Thank you, I will check them out and see, if they contain mockups like the U3 beta. What kind of demo is this, by the way? Singleplayer, Multiplayer? Has it been released way before the game launched?
I didn’t, but it was worth a try.

No news about my U2 rip, sorry. But on November 8th, I will post some random score tracks from Uncharted 3 on my blog to make the waiting time shorter for La-La-Lands 2CD edition, that ships two weeks after the game comes out. The tracks will include cutscene tracks, ingame cues and stuff that is shipped with the Strategy Guide of the game.
Check back my blog post (http://funnyml.blogspot.com/2011/10/projects-uncharted-3-drakes-deception.html) on November 8th or visit my Youtube playlist.
thank you !
(I’m Trennas by the way, but under a new account; I released the custom U2 soundtrack earlier this year 🙂
Hopefully you have an answer! Thanks in advance!

Now, something different. 11 Tracks from the score in lossless quality, included is stuff from CD1 and CD2 from the LLL edition plus new material, that seems to be available only on the audio disc that shipped with the strategy guide.

Hmm, that’s a real bummer. Is there another way to make the xvag files audible and convert them to a workable format?
I could extract 5 minutes of clean music (256k bitrate, by the way), that’s all. I guess they are interleaved like the Heavy Rain files once.
Well, it was a nice try anyway. I’m just glad they’re already releasing so much more music this time around than they did with Among Thieves 🙂
Can’t help you out there. As far as this whole thing goes, I can edit rip and edit music, but the technical stuff is way out of my league.
I do think that most of the music is on the 2cd soundtrack though, so getting it to work is not as essential as it was for Among Thieves 🙂
I tried that value with the finalmix versions used in the Main Screen and it didn’t work properly. Some files even seem to have up to 6 layers.

Upload, PLEASE!!!!
OrangeC is already working on it and will probably be faster than me.

Sorry to hear that. I will reupload the music eventually, but don’t know when.
Thanks! ^^

This is a provisional and lossy release to bypass the long waiting time for the full set.
Some tracks may be altered in the future. Some tracks may also disappear again
(e.g. if they were written for Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune)
May this also be re-uploaded please? Thanks
Chance of re-up?
Is there a chance to see this 5cds edition of the score being reuploaded?
It would be SOOOOO awesome!! 😀
Thanks a lot!
